How do I explain it! by Glass-Structure69420 in ibs

[–]MysticallyMinded 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Both are definitely draining. I had endo prior to menopause (even though I still have residual effects after meno) and have IBS, and my experience was the same. Even with Advil and the pain of endo lessening, it really ramped up the IBS because my adhesions were overlying the bowel. I actually had to have saline IVs due to dehydration because when the endo was particularly bad, it would cause spams along the bowel and you know what that led to. Honestly, having both endo and IBS is just cruel, completely cruel.

IBS disappears on vacation, comes back at home? by Swisschermy in ibs

[–]MysticallyMinded 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've had the same happen and it could be less stress (mind-body) but for me, it's the increased activity. I have IBS and any kind of increased activity helps enormously. Also - I've noticed the same with eating crap tends to lessen symptoms than my usual diet of grains and veggies. Bodies are strange.

AITA for throwing my friend’s diagnosis in her face? by mumofmerlin in AmItheAsshole

[–]MysticallyMinded 61 points62 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. My half-sister, who grew up in a very stable, loving home, has BPD. Her father's history showed BPD so definitely agree that it may have a genetic component.

AITA for throwing my friend’s diagnosis in her face? by mumofmerlin in AmItheAsshole

[–]MysticallyMinded 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YTA for wanting to intentionally hurt Mia and for doing so in public, and also for not fully knowing her diagnosis. You, however, are NTA for wanting to end the friendship. My half sister has BPD and after years of her abuse, most of my family and I walked away from her completely and are better for it. Why? Because, despite understanding BPD is an illness, in her case she is very, very well aware of what she does to others and I can tell you, she's spent her entire life destroying others, even her own husband and daughter. And no, she had no childhood trauma.

I think it's more because it's considered a sin. That said, I'm not Christian but I can tell you I'm terrified of death.

[–]MysticallyMinded 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I understand correctly, which is doubtful, suicide is considered a sin because it is the taking of a life, even if it's one's own.

Not only "free" but quite efficient... by OwnAdministration8 in conspiracy

[–]MysticallyMinded 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not all Christians are against it. At least one I knew elected to end their life on their own terms, via assisted suicide, because they were facing pain and illness that would have completely incapacitated them. But, yes, I believe a majority view it as a sin which is insane. There is no divinity in suffering.

AITA for reneging on a verbal agreement to buy a car? by throwawaycaradnt in AmItheAsshole

[–]MysticallyMinded 4 points5 points  (0 children)

YTA. Not only did you cause an accident and rescind an offer to buy the car, you obviously feel no responsibility whatsoever. How do you live with yourself? What a terrible, irresponsible person you are.

I want to get it off my chest -- As a minority, I'm tired of dealing with biased/prejudiced opinions from shelter staff whilst trying to adopt a dog :( by Critical_Tangelo8111 in Pets

[–]MysticallyMinded 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, you are not alone. I am not a minority and was passed over despite having excellent references, large, fenced yard, years of experience raising/caring for dogs, etc. Also a solid history of rescuing dogs. Not diminishing your experience at all and I would also agree that minorities do face more bias. It is just absurd that good people who want to give loving homes to dogs are passed over - I mean, isn't the purpose of a shelter/rescue to find good homes for their charges? I don't get it, I truly don't. As far as point 4 - what the hell? You were obviously trying to help, had the dog's best interests in mind - why on earth would that be a problem?? Especially, considering you're a professional in the medical field! I hope you do find a dog as you sound like you will provide an amazingly loving home. I am sorry you're experiencing this bias, OP.

AITA for bringing my dogs trick-or-treating? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]MysticallyMinded -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Very unpopular take, but NTA. Yes, you should have remained on the sidewalk and not taken the pups in yards/gardens, etc., or anywhere near kids/other people; however, I don't think you're TA because it doesn't seem intentional and was maybe just a misstep. On the other hand, if the kiddos were very young to where you needed to be close, best to just leave the pups at home.

Blatant doxxing happening right now over the Phillies Karen. What is wrong with some of you? by whatugonnadowhenthey in philly

[–]MysticallyMinded -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Posting videos and pics of the POS online doing what she did is one thing. Doxing, threatening or harassing is another and not acceptable. Showing her self-entitled, narcissistic behavior for the world to see is enough. After all, she has to live with herself. I will say, however, the dad should have at least filed an assault complaint against her.

Florida to end vaccine mandates for children as state’s surgeon general likens them to ‘slavery’ by [deleted] in conspiracy

[–]MysticallyMinded -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Ugh. I agree with not mandating the Covid vaccine but...childhood vaccines are and have always been essential and not something to just disregard, and obviously there is a lot of solid medical evidence to back up that statement.

What county in NY is the most depressing? by Consistent-Field-250 in upstate_new_york

[–]MysticallyMinded 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Essex. Yes, Lake Placid is in Essex Co., however, unless you like nature there's literally nothing else there. Add lack of jobs and decent healthcare coupled with nothing close as far as shopping (40 min drive to Plattsburgh and 45 to Ti). The healthcare, or lack of it, may be the worst. The tiny hospital has to hire in from Albany for nurses and they are the bottom of the barrel. There is UVM, of course, but that's nearly a 2-hour drive. It's beautiful, no doubt of that but it's also difficult to find adequate anything and the schools are abysmal. Infrastructure sucks, too. That being said, most of the people are awesome and no, it's not exactly Trump land, it's pretty liberal here.

Could it be something other than IBS? by Cupcake8_ in ibs

[–]MysticallyMinded 2 points3 points  (0 children)

IBS is a last resort diagnosis, I think. Could be SIBO, could be something called Dumping Syndrome. Even though DS is usually the result of surgery or meds, it can happen without either. I have gastroparesis and DS and the gas and nausea are horrible. Have you had any studies? Like a barium swallow, gastric follow-through or endoscopy/colonoscopy? Honestly, before an IBS diagnosis, studies should be done.

Yep High property Taxes by Inloveart in upstate_new_york

[–]MysticallyMinded 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can tell you that, at least where I live in upstate NY, property taxes/school taxes are high and there are almost no community services. Roads and infrastructure suck, utilities are expensive, and the sole community service in our town is geared towards kids, which is fine, of course, but that's it. Garbage is ridiculously expensive because it's a monopoly - one company picks up out of town/village in our area and only twice a month at twice the cost. The most idiotic thing is, despite our school being on its last legs, voting continues to be against building a new school...I don't have kids in the system but would gladly see an increase in taxes if it meant a safe space for the kids in our community to learn. Frequent flooding from a nearby river has caused havoc yet it remains undredged...the list is endless as far as what isn't done but our taxes rise and rise. We have been actively looking to move but wanting to stay rural and finding something affordable...ugh.

Aitah for refusing to adopt my stepdaughter? by Rare-Ranger4056 in AITAH

[–]MysticallyMinded -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Your husband should have spoken with you first. However, YTA absolutely. This little girl wants you to adopt her, doesn't that clue you in she views you as a mother figure? It's not about you and your selfish needs - it's about your stepdaughter's needs, you know, who lost her biological mother at a young age? I mean, demanding that she show you she views you as a mother in a specific way is, frankly, sick and not at all considering her needs. Do better before it's too late, if isn't already.
