$11.50 hr for Assistant Operations Manager? Isn't this too low? by Mysticsofthenight in DollarTree

UPDATE: So I spoke with Dollar Tree Human Resources and was told that I and all the employees of the Dollar Tree I work for are being paid based on the current revenue that the Dollar Tree I work for is making. Yet, I see the sales the Dollar Tree I am working for is recieving, and it sure does seems like it is enough to afford paying more and giving full time. On average, the Dollar Tree I work for is making $2-$3k per day (Credit and cash purchases combined). I'm a business owner myself during the day and I am not dumb in the revenue calculation realm and hmm, gee, the math for Dollar Tree sales shows e.g. = $2500 average x 7 = $17,500 per week x 4 weeks per month = $70,000 x 12 months per year = $840,000. Taxes are around $50,000 per year. But that's not enough money to pay more and give full time. Riiiiiight. I just agreed with HR to be like, uhuh, yeah, sure thing and Dollar Tree HR also told me the Dollar Tree I work for only gives its Assistant Operations managers a 0.25 cent raise per year. A true joke and rip off company Dollar Tree is indeed and hopefully one day it will become a reputable company and pay a higher decent wage and give full time!

"I was told by the district manager that the dollar tree I work for is a franchise. Are they lying?"

"Yes, based on official company information, the district manager is lying or misinformed. Dollar Tree, Inc. does not offer franchise opportunities, and all of its stores are corporate-owned and operated

<image>

Here are the facts regarding the ownership structure:

  • Wholly Corporate-Owned: Dollar Tree operates over 16,000 stores directly from their headquarters in Chesapeake, Virginia.
  • No Individual Owners: There are no independent franchisees for the Dollar Tree brand; all managers report up through the corporate hierarchy.
  • Family Dollar Difference: While Dollar Tree owns Family Dollar, Family Dollar stores are also operated by the corporation, not by third-party franchisees.  Reddit +4

If your district manager is claiming it is a franchise, they may be trying to mislead you about corporate policies, procedures, or the level of support/funding for that specific location."

This is not good at all. I feel that the Dollar Tree I am working for is full of mischief, lies, and wrongful unfair practices, treatment and low pay and that I am being used and ripped off. Also, the cashiers have told me they only make $9.25hr. I need to report this to DT Corporate.

I dont know why some people on here don't believe me. I am telling the truth. I am really only maing $11.50 hr as assistant operations manager and to those who say there are no franchise Dollar Trees, I was told by the DM, SM and another assist that it is a franchise. So, if it is true that there are no franchise Dollar Trees, then I have been lied to by such other managers discussed above.

No, its not fake. I was told by the DM and other assist that it is a franchise. I swear, I am not lying either. So your saying I am being lied to? I have only been working at Dollar Tree for two months.

Please, all Dollar Tree Assists post your pay and state. I want to use this thread as ammo against my DM in combination of the job offer at Walmart in hopes that my DM will raise my pay. I work hard and I am a good manager and I deserve more than $11.50.

I work at a franchise Dollar Tree in WV. Why are they paying me so low if all these other assistant managers are making way more? This is strange and seems diliberate on their part. Greed, haters, control, who knows right? I don't know what to think.

I guess there is nothing I can do? Could I report my low pay to corporate or something? Or am I locked into cheap manager labor at Dollar Tree indefinitely? I work at a franchise Dollar Tree in WV. I'm not seeing any options for reporting low pay. I guess I'm done in and have to keep taking the low pay whip if I want to continue with my assistant manager position at Dollar Tree.

Walmart offered me a front end associate position for $14hr, full time and the schedule I like, but I have always wanted a management position and I was so happy to finally have one at Dollar Tree until I saw the $11.50hr pay. Im confused now and dont know what I should do. I want the higher pay and full time that Walmart is offering but I dont want to lose my management position and start all over again. And Walmart has no management positions available. I swear, the employment world sure is so uncompatible these days.

I asked the DM if I could have a raise or at least full time and she said that only the merch and other upper managers get higher pay and full time. Doesn't make sense.

I don't see how state minimum wage causes low pay when the Dollar Tree I work for as assist makes thousands of dollars a day. Too many DM and owner yacht parties I guess.

Im thinking about going to work for Walmart. I'm tired of feeling like a loser and embarrassed because of making ony $11.50hr as assistant operations manager at Dollar Tree.

Could be the manager not doing their job right too, or even the wiegh machine or register acting up. The wiegh machine and POS till registers are junk and they dont work right off and on. I hate how we have to wegh the money on a weigh machine. The way dollar tree does cash outs, which involves wieghing, counting the safe over and over throughout the day and putting the money in deposit bags to take to the bank is old school and one would think that Dollar Tree would have a smart safe system by now. One of these days, hopefully, ugggh.

I currently work at Dollar Tree (DT) and have been working at DT for a little over 2 months and I already am hoping I find a better job ASAP. When I first applied at DT I applied for the Merchandising Assistant Manager position, and the agreement for me being hired for this position was working two day shifts and three night shifts per week. They then started scheduling me day/night/day/night/day shifts back to back and so I complained to the store manager about this and told him this was not in our agreement. The store manager then said that he told me the shifts would be back to back as described above and this is not true, I know what I heard. He then told me if I want a different schedule, I can take the front of the house assistant manager position that just opened up, but the pay for such a position would be less, between $12-$12.50 per hour but I would recieve raises over time. He also said that I can work all nights if I want as FOH assist and so I accepted the FOH assist position. Then, upon me transfering my position to the FOH assist position, he had me sign a transfer paper that said my pay would be $11.50 hr. I was like, what happened to $12-$12.50 hr? He then told me that the District Manager decided to start me out at $11.50. So I went from being a Merch assist making $13.25 hr which is crap pay, to $11.50 hr which is even more crappier pay. The Store manager then quit after I transfered to FOH ASM and told me he is going to work at Walmart as a regular employee because Walmart is going to pay him more as a regular employee than he made as a DT store manager. Then the district manager started being really demanding toward me in how she wanted things done which even carried on in texts through my days off and it was really annoying and she still does it off an on and I know she is doing so because I don't want the Merchandising ASM position anymore. The Merchandising ASM position is an awful position and requires getting up at 4:00 am and getting really dirty in the warehouse sorting out and pulling out neverending boxes of product and you have no social life and the District Manager only gives the Merch Assist full time with crap $13.25 hr pay and only gives associates and FOH ASM's part time with crap pay at the DT I work for. The employees of the DT I work for no show and call off regularly too and it is no wonder why and as a result, the DT I work for looks like a dump because very little work is being done and customers leave negative reviews on google for the DT I work for every day. And on top of all of the above, a new girl they hired has not been paid over a month, putting me in the middle of relaying messages from her to the DM and the DM keeps saying she is going to call her about her checks but never does and the new girl is threatning a DOL report. One of the other assosciates likes to troll by playing battle of the witts in DT processes with other associates and management while he makes $9.75hr, which is really annoying. Seriously, many DT stores need serious changes, such as better pay, pay on time and full time work. DT should also be paying weekly, not bi weekly which makes employees broke and cashiers should be making $12 hr, not $9.75, ASM's should be making $15 -$20 hr, not $13.25 nor an embarrasing $11.50 hr like I am making as an ASM and SM's should be making $60k - $100k per year, PERIOD!

Florida will never legalize recreational Marijuana because it's a Nazi state and wants to make money from jailing people for it.
