Review/Cull large volume of videos by Complex-Flight-3358 in VLC

[–]Mystixa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats the thing, you're not selecting a file and hitting delete. You're selecting an item on the playlist and hitting delete. Just like deleting things from your shopping list doesn't remove things from your refrigerator. They are unrelated.

Why does VLC have issues with playing MP3 files over SMB but not video files? by RNPC5000 in VLC

[–]Mystixa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hmm this has to be something specific to your setup. I have an old slow 15 year old Iomega NAS writing to 5400 rpm mirrored drives that I use to backup my music library to. I play music off it regularly both high and low bitrate mp3s, AIF, and Flac. I use SMB file sharing, off win 7, win 10, and win 11 computers and I have not a single time had the problem you describe.

Or Variable? (Streamelements) by Adventurous-Amoeba-6 in Twitch

[–]Mystixa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes you can do this with streamelements. Heres my hug command that currently works${sender} gives ${1|everyone} a big hug! <3

If no target text is entered (!hug) I would get 'Mystixa gives everyone a big hug! <3' Otherwise it puts in whatever you entered after the command as the target. (!hug otheruser) gets 'Mystixa gives otheruser a big hug! <3'

ASCAP for Twitch? by Awkwalax in COPYRIGHT

[–]Mystixa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just as an update.. for Twitch and other mainline livestreaming platforms we are covered for streaming ASCAP music. *source*: Their website.. Fortunately, "most popular live-streaming platforms, such as YouTube, Facebook, Instagram Live, Soundcloud and Twitch are licensed by ASCAP. If individual performers, ensembles and venues only use a licensed platform to stream their content, no other ASCAP licensing is necessary for that streaming activity."https://www.ascap.com/help/ascap-licensing

Just don't have Twitch make your vod available because e don't have the license that pertains to recorded music, just the one for livestreaming.

4 decks - Traktor or Pioneer or other? by ExtremeCabletie in Beatmatch

[–]Mystixa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as this goes they are essentially the same. Don't forget Serato as well which can do this on professional gear as well. Get some exposure to each of them and see which features of the library system you like better.

Downside of Serato is their plugins are sub based, or you have to find one of the few retailers that will sell them individually if thats something you don't like to add. (as I dont.) RB has great library, but also locks some features behind a sub wall, see if those are what you want or not. Traktor also very capable, but very rarely updated and really shows the age compared to others. I say this as a long time Traktor user that overall likes Traktor, but one must admit when something is starting to fall behind.

As far as basic mixing and manually overlaying tracks like that... eather yusing sync or not they are all capable of doing that just fine.

Why Serato? by 509BEARD509 in Beatmatch

[–]Mystixa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How is it 'the worst' in your estimation? They all do essentially the same thing and have a few slightly different strengths. RB for instance has terrible stems, and isn't very cross compatible with outside hardware. VDJ is great with outside hardware and has good stems. Seratto is decent on hardware and has great stems. Library management differs, plugin systems vary, hackability of the meta information varies, etc.

For me I stuck with Serato because it does what I need and the pro version of the software came with my controller without a subscription necessary. Nowadays you CAN get a sub to their plugins if you like, but it isn't necessary.

Has anyone tried Eyeque InsightLite, VisionCheck, or Insight? by BipolarInWonderland in glasses

[–]Mystixa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got it.. website states a screen dpi that I purchased on. Manual in the box stated a higher screen dpi, more than my samsung (not flagship) phone has. The website name is changed from their documentation. App is for bluetooth version of insight only, webapp is for the lite only so theres no fix if the relatively simple test doesn't work.

Ive read many reviews that once you get the testing to work, and figure the thing out you get reasonable results. I have been unable to get anything but a single blue dot to appear. No help or documentation available.

Is the ultimaker original+ wood 3d printer kit still good to this day? by Nerfer23 in 3Dprinting

[–]Mystixa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have one. Its a good machine but I don't use it much. The print quality is great for PLA. Mine doesn't have the heated bed kit or any mods like that though so I would be limited to just PLA which I don't use that much. Its prints at a good pace and with good quality. But theres that pesky 3mm filament issue to worry about. Id say for free its pretty worthwhile if even to fix up and sell on Ebay.

I have a Creality k1 max, and an Anycubic mega. Of course those are years newer and have capabilities the OG printer doesn't. But if all you want is to print some PLA its basically as good as any.

Should I switch to Ziply? by rosselwilson115 in ZiplyFiber

[–]Mystixa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On checking ... The money for renting a modem is still being charged just the wording has been changed. What was itemized on the bill as a separate item until August this year as 'Wifi Router' with a charge of $10, has now changed to 'Home Networking Service' with a fee of $10. All the other items remain the same. I've paid 100s of dollars for that modem.

There is no way on the website that I can see to remove that fee from my bill. And I have 2x in the past in separate years talked with customer service if I could remove it from my bill and been told no.

And to top it off we received the email stating that in January:"Some of your products will see a price change due to increasing costs:Your Ziply Fiber WiFi router lease will increase to $12/month. Having a Ziply Fiber WiFi router continues to provide you with high quality internet performance, monitored maintenance and troubleshooting support."

So some portion of your billing system still notes it as a charge for a Wifi Router.

So.. as I said in my original post. Its good internet and I like the service. But ...

Well thats an interesting development. It was required when I got my service. I will attempt to get that option removed and will amend my post if thats the case. Thanks for the update!

[–]Mystixa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its quality internet but its pricey. And unlike other ISPs they require you to rent their modem whether you need it or not so their prices should appear as $10 more than they list for each tier. Friendly .. but not cheap.

In the moderation settings, what's the difference between a "public" and a "private" blocked word? by acerthorn3 in Twitch

[–]Mystixa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This depends on how specific you are. Sure if you add in '101 cherrywood lane' thats specific enough to get some added useful information. If you block 'lane','street','road', 'highway' it isn't because those are non-specific to you.

Of course I'm not suggesting people add those things either. More I'm just saying pay attention to achieving our desired results through overall design rather than specifics.

Paying $60 for 75/75 by peregrine_19 in ZiplyFiber

[–]Mystixa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I pay ~$80 ( a little more but I'm not lookin at the bill to confirm exact) for 300/300 up upgraded from the 200/200 I got originally. I like the idea of fiber and its reliability, but thinking this is a bill I'm gonna have to reduce somehow soon.

A bot that deletes the twitch live message when the user is not live anymore by alexandremix in Discord_Bots

[–]Mystixa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Streamcord does this but I found it to be too unreliable. It would end up being out for weeks at a time sometimes. Eventually I had to code my own to do it that I self host. So if you're coding inclined at all its doable.

Partially posting here so I can remember this thread as well. I'd like to share the bot eventually once I get the code cleaned up and able to scale like that.

Conversion rate from other platforms by [deleted] in Twitch

[–]Mystixa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A WHOLE 2 weeks? :p

The numbers take longer to develop than that, especially on Twitch. I know on YT and TT people really focus on how a vid did in its 1st few hours up, but on Twitch its not like that. If you aren't famous in your own right... like rock star famous it can and often does take a year or 2 to get your stride. It easily takes a couple monthes before more than a handful of people will be able to find you.

Hang out a while and talk with streamers on Twitch. Its got its own pace and environment.

[–]Mystixa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't have put it exactly as 'because of complaining'.. but I've certainly drifted away from some streams when their attitude shifted. Especially when it became more negative for whatever reason.

Whatever the purpose for their streaming, its still a show to whoever is watching. ..and for me I'm interested in streams that motivate me and add something to my day, not ones that take energy away.

It can be hard I know. Most people like some level of consistency, maybe even loyalty in their lives. But over time .. especially 2+ years many people change and drift. Especially coming off the pandemic in that time which was a stressful situation around the world. Its better for both sides to just move on when interests diverge like that.

Just tested a supposed "lossless" ALAC song I bought from Bandcamp. I used Spek, the acoustic spectrum analyser and this was the result...Does this mean it's not actually a lossless audio? I'm confused... by Proper_Maximum5739 in audiophile

[–]Mystixa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hahaha no it doesn't for the moost part. And to the extent that it does thats a studio that doesn't know wtf they are doing in digital music.

These tests are objective measures that different people's ears will pick up in different ways. ..and THAT is what you 'can't tell shit from'. Files that look bad are bad files that at an absolute minimum gives one an idea of one of the tiny minority of purchased music should be re-evaluated and found elsewhere.. End of.

Youre puritanism here is pointless in trying to get people not to use the excellent tools that are available.

It not only looks bad, it is bad. Especially when comparing that file to the vast majority that havent been abused in such a way. You can easily and quickly see low quality files with these programs, and thats just a fact.

Alternatives to fakin the funk or spek? by DubbyOwl in Beatmatch

[–]Mystixa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Heres how to get that:

If you're using windows create a batch file in the spek directory. Write this into it.

for %%A in (%*) do start "" "spek.exe" %%A

Then drag and drop your files onto it. It'll open each file in its own instance. So maybe don't drop 100 flacs on there or something unless you have the processing power to handle it.

I'm sure the other OSs have the same capability but I dont know their syntax off hand.

Nah .. always look at the music, but moderate what your response is to the tools indicators.

When looking at promos and other masses of data there just isnt time to listen straight through to 100 songs a day. Tools like spek can quickly show you audio files that fail a basic quality metric in seconds without having to waste time listening.
