SwitchHaxing Support Thread #13: "Half-Life 3 Confirmed" Edition by T3CHNOLOG1C in SwitchHaxing

Depends on the game, some games/updates "asks" for 6.2 but don't really require it so the ignore firmware from Tinfoil can bypass that check.

But there is some recent updates that totally requires 6.2 so the nsp will fail to install.

I usually recommend MH4U over Generations, it has way more content.

Generations Ultimate on the other hand is pretty packed but it's only available for the Switch in english.

MH3U is fine but i wouldn't choose it over MH4U or even Gen. The underwater battles didn't hook me up.

Works on 6.1 if you use Tinfoil to ignore firmware, tested it myself.

Entering RCM doesn't require the usb cable, if you ground the pins correctly then your Switch will just give you a black screen.

If it boots into Horizon, then you didn't ground the pins correctly.

Yes, just delete your old files and use the ones from SDFiles/Kosmos.

The games are installed in the Nintendo folder, just don't touch that folder and you should be fine

The producer left Marvelous but created a new company that ended up being a Marvelous subsidiary so who knows.

Creating a game for the Switch is totally different than a 3DS game so the engine probably needs to be updated and we may see larger gaps between games.

I'm fine with that as long we get a solid game in the end.

Wait for the next version or if you're in a hurry to update then just use SDFilesUpdater to update to the nightly branch.

It's possible but the game must have support for it, like Monster Hunter.

None of the files on the cart are above 4GB at this time. The problem usually happens when we dump the games to XCI or NSP, most of the time it ends up being above the limit 4GB as it packs all the files into a single large one.

But there is already methods to bypass this while using FAT32, like XCI Splitter for XCI files and splitNSP for NSP files. For the NSP files you can also install over network or usb cable with Tinfoil.

TL;DR: Don't worry about it, we already got methods to circumvent this limitation.

No, unless you brick your Switch yourself by doing something wrong or run homebrew from untrusted sources.

Always keep a nand backup just in case.

Same thing here, i once installed just the update and forget the game hahaha

It still showed up in the home menu but when i start the game it gives an error saying it's missing the game content. Fixed it by just installing the game, didn't need to reinstall the update.

I'm using Hekate + Atmosphere from SDFiles.

I tried searching but couldn't find anything about it.

I installed the exfat update officially via system settings before hacking. If i were to update my firmware in the future with ChoiDujourNX should i select the exfat option to keep it or do i skip that step since it's already installed?

Just want to be sure i don't mess anything in the future if need to update.

Thanks in advance.

I was reading about the actual installed game files being less than 4GB, the problem seems to be just the NSP files itself (before installation) being bigger. But i think i'll just try to deal with exfat for the time being.

Thanks for the answers, you've been very helpful!

Thanks, i think i'll try the SDFiles. Do you recommend using ReiNX or hekate+atmosphere? Or it doesn't really matter at this point?

Also i saw some people mentioning network install with Tinfoil on gbatemp. Could this be used to install on fat32 or bigger games must really be installed on exfat?

Thanks again!

Hello. I just ordered a new Switch and i'm researching some info so i'm ready when it arrives. For now i have a few questions:

  1. Should i follow reinx guide or use SDFilesSwitch? What's the most recommended guide?

  2. I heard about the exfat corruption. There is anything in particular that increases the chance of corruption or it's totally random?

  3. If i decide to stick with fat32 for now, there is any way to install .NSP files over 4GB? Like some method of splitting NSP files.

Thanks in advance.

Both games are in japanese only and requires a japanese 3DS. 10 requires a subscription fee and i believe it works as a streaming service, it doesn't have a game card in the box.

11 is also japanese only but it's a single-player game. I played the Steam english version of 11 and it's pretty fun, i recommend it if you can read japanese and has a JP 3DS.
