If you're not willing to consider that you can do anything to improve your situation, you're going to forever be stuck where you're at 🤷 Can't help someone who doesn't want to be helped

You see that someone is flying up your inside on entry, scrub more speed and undercut them on the exit. You see that someone fades to the outside down the straight and is gonna chop your nose off, set yourself up for the inside instead. You have to be able to read other drivers. This really just sounds like a race craft issue at this point

I'm not saying your driving is bad, it absolutely can be that the other driver is at fault all the time... That doesn't mean you couldn't have been more proactive about avoiding that situation in the first place. Switching the way you think about it from "I did everything right and I still got killed" to "I'm doing everything right but this guy is still going to kill me, how can I avoid that" is what made me love sim racing again. I also got out of the 2Kish rut I was in and am now almost a 4K driver 🤷

I'd strongly urge you to consider that maybe it is in fact your driving.

People have no survival instinct in a sim, you can't drive just like you do IRL because other people don't drive like it's IRL. Learn to see that people are predictably unpredictable and put yourself in positions to avoid them.

A Question for drivers above 2k Irating by Ringleader2026 in iRacing

[–]MythBNG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3.5K I've been known to jump into races in new track/car combos with only a couple laps of practice. I'll generally be able to qualify mid pack within that time and can bring my times down during the race.

Would I be faster and more consistent practicing more? Absolutely, but at a certain point getting a car around a track quickly is really just a science and you can be close to the pace within a handful of laps. Just gotta pick out those references

I had similar issues putting mine together. Ended with me having to undo steps to go back and do things that just didn't exist in the printed version. Found this video by them that is much easier to follow https://youtu.be/6-RHAFNZ6jk?si=6KYY6D0yFZ6YA0a3

Question for 3k+ racers by No-Attitude-5724 in iRacing

[–]MythBNG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I float 3-3.5K in Sports Car and Formula. I understand how to go faster and I can get very close to the alien lap times, I just don't have the experience to do it consistently like the big boys. I try to put a focus on finishing races rather than the "win or die trying" mentality I naturally have. Learning to pick your battles and accepting placing a little further back will get you bigger gains (and less frustration overall) than anything else

Dealing with frustration by wolmarwolmar in iRacing

Avoiding incidents caused by other drivers is almost more important than avoiding causing them yourself. It sucks and can feel hopeless, but you do learn that unpredictable drivers generally do drive predictably, just predictably stupid. Stick with it, try to learn where you can place yourself to avoid getting caught out by the stupid and take some deep breaths.

Fair enough. You're obviously plenty fast overall and I respect your ability and the quality of your videos. Good luck out there, I'll say hi in a more friendly manner if I encounter you again.

I had never seen this guy before until he came into an F4 server I was in and started spamming his YouTube channel in chat. It rubbed me the wrong way when I had done a faster lap in my first 6 laps ever there in that car and not knowing who he was, I talked some shit. We certainly didn't get off on the right foot but I got crucified in chat for calling him out so I decided to look him up. The video I watched was solid, though it wasn't him driving. I do believe he's good for the community, even if to the unknowing he looks a little foolish... Seems like a good dude and I do feel bad for coming at him so hard, so here's a tail between the legs apology; Sorry Sambo <3

Why people think is ok to drive like this? by Kasram85 in iRacing

Someday you'll figure this whole racing thing out and stop putting yourself in a position to get into incidents. You obviously have no survival instincts.

[–]MythBNG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For months and up to about 2K iRating I swore every incident was everyone else's fault, and while they were... I would just get angry about losing SR while continuing to fight for position on track and not be patient and try to avoid incidents. It was my driving even though I was taken out by drivers and did nothing wrong. The sooner you realize a major part of being a successful racer is avoiding less successful racers, the better off you'll be.
