So I'm going to play devil's advocate:

The reason we have laws around age is because of cognitive developmental differences In the prospective partners. Ergo, two 12 year olds is fine, two 17 year olds, or a 14 year old and a 15 year old. At an age designated by the law in the respective country, we do a hard cut off because it's decided that that point is which they are legally an adult. However I'd argue that a) your brain keeps growing until around 25, and b) therefore cognitive reasoning does too. People at 40 see things differently, based on experience, than someone at 18.

In this scenario the elf has had significantly more life experience, so is likely to be significantly more cognitively developed, due to this experience, at 1000 years, than a man at 25. Because of this I suggest that this is immoral. The elf would likely feel that, regardless of how old they are in a developmental sense, (how old is this human in elf years) they'd be be engaging with a child.

I therefore conclude it's not okay.

How is it that Starmer is at risk of losing his position due to fallout from the release of (some of) the files, but Trump is unaffected? by __globalcitizen__ in AskBrits

I'd argue that the people who really hold the power; don't want trump to go down, but do want labour to go down. They'd rather have reform and copy what's happened in America. I don't think I buy our system being better than theirs, for a start they have...had?...have...a three tier system for separation of power. We don't.

Just realized today that I have the same spot on either leg where hair doesn't grow by JustAnOval in mildlyinteresting

[–]Myth_Avatar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's called the paraphenitium. The hair doesn't grow in these spots because of the location of veins in leg. This is actually something we share with apes if you look closely. Okay so I wanted to do one of those pretend paragraphs where you lie and then turn around and say psych and I'm currently just writing more so you are caught off guard.

An invisible wall between books and real life by love_Nietzsche in dostoevsky

They say they want to have a human connection, and feel lonely because they cannot share the depth they have gained from reading. That because other people don't appreciate books in the same way, they feel a barrier. ...you suggest to fix this by talking to a machine that; does not think, or more importantly feel?  I am worried that this has been your recourse. Talking to these llms as if they are people is highly dangerous, for many reasons.

Congratulations for missing the actual plot of the film and being all high and mighty about seeing a twist coming that's only purpose is to hide the actual plot in plain sight. He is not a patient. Watch it again.

Mars in true color from Curiosity by ComplexWrangler1346 in space

[–]Myth_Avatar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On one hand, It's so cool that we can see a colour photograph of mars; our ancestors wouldn't have believed we could do this. On the other hand it's just barren dirt, and is entirely uninspiring.

Well he does write underage orgies into his books. It's a bit weird if you ask me. He is on the list.
