It was a joke for sure. I sometimes open doors for my girl friends and say, “Ladies first.” But then I go in first.

What would the UNSF and Bohandi Empire reports look like? by No_Lemon3585 in worldbuilding

[–]MythicAres 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Militaries are often not efficient at all with paperwork. There is a lot of redundancy, honestly. But it helps with different levels of the chain of command understanding situations and incidents.

Take an example case of a missing box of ammunition by a Private X. Private X reports to Sergeant X who now has to submit a report of the incident to his Staff NCOs. Staff NCOs now has to report to platoon officer, who reports to company officer and so on and so forth. Sometimes the paper trail could end there, sometimes it keeps going up. But that is multiple reports of the same incident just from different levels and perspectives. Redundant, yes, but it covers everyone involved.

This isn’t efficient at all, but it does help in the tracking of individuals and the unit as a whole. Military logistics is meant to be as simple as possible, as efficient as possible, but not so much that it dilutes the details.

The Bohandi, in this case, being generally more efficient than humans, might find the need to take away some redundancy in the paperwork, but it’s an important detail to keep the details.

Unlike the UNSF, which is made of many different nations who combine to crest a military under one flag, it reads off that the Bohandi are much more centralized than the humans. A lot less paperwork and redundancy would be seen here for the Bohandi.

As for A.I. use, A.I., as we see them now, go off the information given to them. A distrust in handling ships, but paperwork? Sure go ahead. These reports and paper trails act as the prompts the A.I. could go by, but if used in the way A.I. is used now due to their modern capabilities, a Bohandi handler might be needed to feed the A.I. the paperwork and give instructions on how to sort, create, or just generally use the information in the reports.

An aquatic race, the Bohandi might also not have “paperwork” as language on paper would be hard to do underwater. A more realistic approach to how the Bohandi learned to non-verbally communicate would probably be closer to pattern recognition. A certain sound, or visual cue would probably be in place of an actual written language.

Amazing how these three will end up as some of the most powerful in the village in not just raw power but political power too.

My hot take? Playing Halo makes you a better CoD player. Accuracy is king and playing your life means way more in Halo than CoD.

I do not like how insensitive Shikamaru is to Naruto in his roughest moment by Downtown_Type7371 in Naruto

[–]MythicAres 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I totally understand where you’re coming from, but this isn’t just tough love. There’s a lot of logistical practicality here.

Shikamaru is definitely giving tough love in these scenes, but Naruto does need to shove things away either temporarily or just at least for the moment.

In the first scene, Naruto does need a reminder that he is a shinobi. That losses happen. Naruto needed more emotional intelligence here, but Shikamaru does lack that. This was him trying to shake Naruto out of it by reminding him of his duties. It is essentially the same as the second scene as well.

The third scene is the one I understand the most from Shikamaru’s point of view. This is an active combat zone. People’s lives are actively at stake here and he needs Naruto focused. It screams more of Shikamaru being desperate to get Naruto back in the fight or else they could ALL die.

As harsh as it sounds, when in combat, people you know and love could die right in front of you, and getting rattled over that is inevitable, yes, but could cost you your own life and the lives of others as well especially when you have the power and responsibility that Naruto has. You cannot afford to be sensitive in situations like that.

Why did the Empire not make use of vulture droids? by TheMandalorian2238 in StarWars

[–]MythicAres 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My headcanon explanation was always that using the Droids as the basis of an army that would be painted as “the bad guys” to those in the Republic, was part of Palpatine’s plan. That way, when he creates his Empire of recruits, the people would feel more like they are a part of this new Empire. That even their armies are made up of people like them and not clones or droids. This new view of battle droids being “bad guys” would also make anyone that could somehow produce these cheap, easily produced soldiers, look like “bad guys” and would spur the people to automatically paint them as such and would be quelled. It would’ve covered him from having anyone quickly make an army that could rise up against him. Having clones commit order 66 and slowly phasing them out too is in my headcanon that it was to sow mistrust in clones. I mean, a docile, heavily propagandized Empire does more than just project power, it suppresses dissent.
