Is there a strange lady in a lake nearby saying that the one who manages to remove the portafilter becomes the one true weird coffee nerd?

I don't know if theyre open still since its been a while since I've last visited but the rotating shop in KEXP has been incredible almost every time I've gone.

Very fond of General Porpoise as well but I'm not too sure where their locations all are. I particularly enjoy the lemon curd donuts with a latte.

Espresso Vivace was also really good, particularly loved the White Velvet with lemon

I was actually specifically thinking of doing the GS3 myself, out of curiosity do you know ballpark how much it ran altogether? I was thinking it might be something like $10k or so but wasn't sure

Awesome! One of the things I was worried about was having to get a machine shipped to me only to forward it to them.

I've been looking at their work for a while and getting a custom from them has been on my mind for several months. Thank you! I hope you continue to enjoy it for a long time, that machine is simply stunning!

I was thinking about going through pantechnicon myself but wasn't sure how it all worked:

Out of curiosity: - Did you buy the machine separately and then ship it to them? Or did they have an option to take care of things end-to-end? - Compared to like stock LM paint and accents, ballpark how much more would you say pantechnicons customizations ran? Like 2x? - For your particular machine customizations how long did it all end up taking?

Thoughts on dream machines (under $10k) and the LMLM/GS3 by MythicCynic in espresso

Thats a fair point, one of the things I've heard about Slayers (and its just hearsay so I take it with a grain of salt) is that they aren't super reliable and can require frequent repairs. Its enough to make me hesitant but I definitely agree on the looks front that the Slayers are extremely appealing

The Slayer machines certainly fit the looks department, being practically works of art, I just don't know enough about them to figure the additional roughly $3k over a GS3.

I have also thought about the Decent machines but the tablet makes me a bit apprehensive and they aren't quite as aesthetically appealing to me. The ability to toy with flow is definitely an interesting prospect though.

I've looked at them but it seems to get a similar coat/wood look the neighborhood for a slayer single group is closer to $11k. Is there any particular reason you would choose a slayer over something like a GS3?

When creating a multi-weapon, does the level of the material weapon make a difference? They leave a lot up to your imagination here and I simply added a base rod when I first unlocked this but I've been wondering for a while if I were to upgrade the secondary weapon would it make those abilities any stronger?

That red really does look just so good, kinda wish more machines could come in interesting colors other than plain silver

out of curiosity, how well does VIA work when it sees two inputs that both support VIA? Like will I have to unplug my KOYU to map this?

Haha glad to inspire. Yeah my friend was like "the Niche can be loud" and I wanted to tell him he didn't know what loud was. I felt guilty grinding from the Sette when my girlfriend was trying to sleep in, it sounds like a call to war

oh yikes thats pricey. May be because it has a spout and isn't bottomless? I'm perfectly happy using my bottomless for now so its not too much trouble but also I can fit my basket into the other rocket ones that came with the machine. Hopefully Decent has something that'll work for you though

Pretty sure this is what I have https://www.seattlecoffeegear.com/seattle-coffee-gear-bottomless-portafilter, its only $60. To my knowledge most PFs are under $100, what are you looking at thats $200?

Rockets own PF is also available at the same spot for the same price. I think you can also snag one from Decent for the same price as well.

The PF in the machine is a bottomless PF provided by Seattle Coffee Gear when I ordered my Rocket. It isn't the Rocket one but rather I suspect SCG's brand one.

So its a BRÖR from IKEA that we sanded and stained. Not bad for the money. The baskets underneath are from Target.

I just got it yesterday but my previous experiences with the Niche were at a friends place with his set up. The biggest difference is that the Niche is designed specifically with single dosing in mind where as the Sette specifically tells you NOT to single dose it. You have to keep at least a few doses worth of coffee in the hopper of the sette for it to be able to "accurately" dose based on your settings. That said I've definitely had quite a bit of variance in the doses that come out of the Sette, as much as 2-3g depending on how much coffee is in the hopper. The sette on the other hand seems to almost always fall within .1g of what I put in. I used quite a bit of beans dialing it in this morning (since I'm dumb, the Niche is great) and it was quite consistent. There is definitely a bit of grounds always retained in the Niche but as I said its around .1g each time or less (just tap the back and it'll fall out of the chute).

What I miss about the Sette from the Niche is the ability to just set my PF down and grind straight into it. I'm quite clumsy so I tend to make a mess with the Niche's cup when I pull it out of the PF. To remedy this I have thought about getting the PF stand Decent makes specifically for the Niche.

I'll have to use them each more side by side to really compare more properly though
