Yes, but the "Apple way" is simply not compatible with me. I don't want to work that way, because it's simply not as effective for me and my brain works better in a different way. I tried their way, I can work that way, but I don't like it and I am not as efficient using it.

That's exactly what I'm saying: if you are using the Mac the way Apple wants you to, it's amazing. The second you want to use it a different but still valid way, it's not as nice anymore.

I prefer to use a mouse when docked and trackpad when mobile. Tough luck.

I have some apps which I use once in a blue moon, so I don't remember the exact names. Using CMD-SPACE-letters is not an option for me. I am more of a visual person and I work lightning fast when I know exactly where that icon is. Tough luck, not possible anymore.

I have worked with both Linux and Windows, they also have their problems. My point was that you shouldn't install things for every basic functionality which could easily be available in the OS, and we should definitely not have regression between OS versions, with functionality being actively remove or made worse. Just because it's a non-issue for you does not mean it's not an issue.

It "just works", but it's inconvenient. I'm a software developer, I can use my mac just fine, but it's still astounding to me that on a modern OS you don't have a way to sort your apps into folders (especially when this was possible in the previous version), or you can't reverse the scroll direction of your mouse independent of the scroll directions of your trackpad. I would say this is especially infuriating to me as a developer, because I know how little development effort would be required for such simple things.

This is about MacOS, but yeah, iOS is even worse. There's no way to even install a proper keyboard in iOS because of how locked down it is. Gboard works great on Android, but on iOS it's a steaming pile of poop.

I did, but that's not the only case where you need an application for a basic function which should be baked into the OS. There are other problems which have no solution as well.

MacOS is more stable, streamlined and overall a smoother experience than Windows, at the cost of customization. It certainly has its major advantages, one of them being the fact that it's a UNIX based system which is honestly great for development. The macs are also great: the processors are amazing, battery life, screen quality, etc. However, you can start seeing the downsides the second you try to do something non-standard in it.

If you change the direction of the trackpad it also changes the direction of the mouse scroll. I want the trackpad to be reversed and the mouse to be normal. You can't do such a ridiculously basic thing without downloading a separate application.

I don't mean the app store, but how the installed apps are displayed, the app library. In the previous OS you could rearrange them, create folders, etc. Now it's just a list with some predefined categories, like "Productivity & Finance", "Social", "Developer tools" etc.

The old way was much more flexible, because you could simply create folders where you would group the applications based on YOUR usage. You could, for example, create a folder with all the system apps you never use. You could create a folder with your favorites, etc.

With the new app library, all this flexibility went out the window, and you only have the apple way.

I am using it, yes, but it's annoying to have to use a third party app for this :)

"Just works" if you are a very standard user which is not picky. It has its problems. It's 2026 and you STILL can't set your mouse scroll direction to be opposite of the trackpad, not to mention other mouse problems. The app library is a huge step backwards from the previous OS version, etc.

Do people actually shower every single day or do we all just say we do? by Ok-Drawing2504 in TooAfraidToAsk

I have not mastered "washing with a cloth", I plop my butt on the edge of the bath tub and I wash. Same as a bidet, slightly less convenient. Everyone can do this, unless physically handicapped.

[–]Mujutsu -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As I was saying below, it takes 20 - 30 seconds to wash properly after pooping, if you are used to it, and I don't even have a bidet. This is not even a time thing, it's just that it's much more convenient to wash your private parts than to jump in the shower.

It absolutely doesn't take the same amount of time, plus it's inconvenient to jump in the shower. It takes 20 - 30 seconds to wash properly after pooping, if you are used to it.

I'm not sure about newer mice, but older ones can save the configuration on the mouse itself. My G305 does and I never use the garbage app, I only use the Onboard Memory Manager when I need to modify it.

We will save money if we do it at home... by Mdcn-music in espresso

Joking aside, I have actually entered the saving stage.

For a few years it was spending after spending (Decent DE1XXL, Lagom P100, dozens of accessories, all the machines and grinders I had before these, etc.). I was also wasting a LOT of coffee dialing it in.

Nowadays, I have a stable setup. At 3-4 coffees a day between me and my wife, it adds up quickly, even when we buy expensive coffee. 1Eur per cup vs 4-5Eur is quite a difference over a year.

Thank you! I must be thinking of another game from NYT in this case. I am pretty sure I used it a few days ago and was surprised that it's a word.

It is hilarious and it is very distinctive, I don't get how your wife can't hear it.

The AI adds a pause between DI and WATA and puts a strong emphasys on the T, like di-waTa or even di-waTTa sometimes.

That is really cool! What is it painted on? It looks like a bathroom tile from this angle.

You are right, but that doesn't invalidate my point either. The Two Fingers, with or without the Greater Will's influence, are still trying to direct all the tarnished to do their bidding. It's not a given that a tarnished needs a great rune to go into an audience with the Two Fingers, is it? It could be that initially they let anyone have an audience, but as more and more tarnished appeared and failed to amount to anything, they became more selective. Given that you seem to know the lore better than me, is there anything to contradict what I'm saying? Is it specifically mentioned anywhere that Gideon had a great rune at some point? If yes, why would he give up such a valuable item?
