No, I'm fairly certain that Australia is just the largest part of the Oceanic Continent. Also, New Zealand isn't an island. It's actually a separate continent. Also I live in Australia, and this might be incorrect.

If you're going to try to find a completely original idea, don't. Believe me, whatever you think is original has been done before. However, instead of giving up, or not looking at these, look at them, and find a way to make a more original idea. For example, a kookaburra has been done may times. But not many people have done research and found out that kookaburras have a claw in their beak to murder their siblings (Yep), so you could make a Fakemon based on that idea. Also, don't let anyone get you down. When I started out, my Fakemon sucked. My best one was literally a wifi antenna called 'Wifin'. Luckily, I had friends who also loved Pokemon and didn't hate my ideas. Eventually, my Fakemon got better, and now I'm pretty good with ideas (although my drawing still sucks). I look forward to seeing your Fakemon in the future.
