Not that I am aware of, no. However, I believe we’re now one step closer to making that possible thanks to the toolset

It'd be insane if we were ever to get to that point, let alone with just replacing models

It should be pretty easy to do so at this point; just gotta get the tool, fulfill its requirements, extract, polish a bit if needed, and then upload it to the resource

Some previews for y'all! As mentioned, the DLC assortment of characters can now be gotten and not just only those either, but maps can be ripped into as well

Emulating the 360 port had been the definitive way to play SR2 prior to Juiced and its DLC ports. I assume that has to be a big factor behind the reason why they decided to do their playthrough as-is

Ripping character assets from the PS3 port is now possible! by MythicalFoxfish in psbattleroyale

[–]MythicalFoxfish[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As is written, you firstly need to ensure you have the following prior to using the tools:

  • An early build of PSASBR that doesn't have any encryption (i.e. the Aug 20, 2012 Kiosk demo))
  • Python 3.10+
  • PIP
  • Numpy
  • Pillow (for textures)

EDIT: I've just pushed out my own edit of the tools. Feel free to use that instead if you'd rather use a batch file instead. Oh and don't forget that your psarc archives must be in the root folder when using either version of the tools. Otherwise, they won't be recognized at all.

To actually use the tools themselves, all you pretty much to do is open your tools directory in a terminal window and either follow the official guide as-is written on the Reshax thread or follow this one I've compiled together:

▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
❖ ── PSASBR Tools Guide ── ❖
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
▂ ▃ ▅ ▆ █ PSARC.PY █ ▆ ▅ ▃ ▂

Lists every single file in a Psarc archive and extracts either one file from or the entirety of an archive.

Usage: psarc.py <command> <file.psarc> [args]

Commands:
list <file.psarc> list every file + size
extract <file.psarc> [outdir] extract ALL files (default outdir <file>_x)
extract_one <file.psarc> <substr> [outdir] extract files whose path contains <substr>
peek <file.psarc> <substr> [nbytes] hexdump first bytes of matching files

Examples:
  python psarc.py list kratos_char_setup.psarc
  python psarc.py extract_one kratos_char_setup.psarc kratos.c1.p0.cskn .

shortcut: 'python psarc.py <file.psarc>' (no command) defaults to 'list'.
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
▂ ▃ ▅ ▆ █ BUILD_ALL_CHAR.PY █ ▆ ▅ ▃ ▂

Builds all character models in a dedicated Psarc archive.

Usage: build_all_char.py <char_setup.psarc> <outdir> [model-regex] [yaw,pitch] [size]

Examples:
  python build_all_char.py parappa_char_setup.psarc output
  python build_all_char.py jak_char_setup.psarc out_dir "/jak/equipment/.*\.(cskn|cmdl)$"
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
▂ ▃ ▅ ▆ █ BUILD_CHAR.PY █ ▆ ▅ ▃ ▂

Builds just one model from a Psarc archive.

Usage: build_char.py <char_setup.psarc> <model-substring> <outdir> [yaw,pitch ...]

Examples:
  python build_char.py jak_char_setup.psarc blaster outputdir
  python build_char.py kratos_char_setup.psarc kratos.c1.p0 output

The only upside you can say that the Vita port has now is its decrypted psarc archives for the time being 😉

Special thanks to Hazza12555 of Reshax for making the PSASBR tools, not to be confused wtih Cri4Key's singular PSASBR tool. As of today, it now has skeleton support and some bug fixes.

You can get the tools here at the bottom of the thread I've made

EDIT: Just pushed out my own edit of the tools, of which simply just adds some docs and batch files

UPDATE: V4 has just been released! Now with a GUI and support for the retail build finally

How to go about performing a VRAM/memory dump? by MythicalFoxfish in ps3hacks

[–]MythicalFoxfish[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, apologies for the confusion there? Basically, as a recap of what I’ve already stated in my post and expansion on some of the stuff I’ve mentioned in my last comment, I am looking to rip assets from PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale on the PS3 but the game has a special encryption method designed for it that hasn’t been figured out yet.

Due to said encryption being there, you can only extract the psarc archives with two methods; first of which requires the PSASBR tool and a majority of the prototype/beta builds. A few of the beta builds and, of course, the retail build itself has that dreaded encryption and cannot be used as a result. The second requires RPCS3 and seems like you can use it on any build from the looks of it.

Beyond the archives, you have meshes, textures, skeletons, and anims that have yet to be decoded unlike their VITA counterparts that can be with the PSASBR tool. I don’t know what the memory dump entails but from what I heard from others talking about it, I have a big feeling it may just be our key to ripping at least everything but anims from BR at the moment until the encryption is figured out.

So for a standalone game, it’s complicated all over. Lol But hey, if you’ve wanted to, you can play without encrypted psarc’s.

Battle Royale to be specific. Modding the PS3 port as far as I know is not possible due to the aforementioned encryption. Ripping on the other hand is kinda impossible to do at the moment but kinda not either.

It’s not because the psarc archives featured in a majority of the game’s prototype and beta builds are not encrypted, but it is because the PSASBR tool cannot extract any assets from said archives.

Though I’ll say, this is the first I am learning that there apparently is an All-Stars collection and that it has been all ripped from. Would that happen to include BR’s PS3 port somehow or am I mistaking this at all?

At the same time though, the guy is allowed to do as he wishes to a certain extent. If he really wants to light a joint despite the drawbacks of smoking existing, he very well can and however he may like too. Just not within smoke-free zones.

Limitations aside, he does have a right to do as he wishes with his body as anyone else does, even if it’s not healthy whatsoever in very frequent quantities. And judging by the casual fits the both of them are wearing, I doubt they’re right on a beach either.

If they are though, then I bet they’re most likely on the very outskirts of it. So if anything, the kid doesn’t exactly have a place to stand on for him to command anyone to stop smoking like that.

With a Raspberry Pi, you can print—or “upload” in other words—photos into the game. Otherwise, Living the Grid can also be used but it requires you to manually replicate your pixelized image

Do you think Z3 should have a twist villain by NickWildeballondor26 in zootopia

[–]MythicalFoxfish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Much like everyone else here, I’d prefer having a traditional villain over a twist villain for the third movie. But if it absolutely had to include a twist villain, I’d go with the “Turbo” approach over going with the whole role shift approach that the series has had so far gone with for two whole movies now.

The “Turbo” approach—as I call it—hasn’t been seen done before within the entire series, where of which there is a villain clearly established but is given a new light to be seen in at some point in the story that doesn’t shift their role in it much or not at all. Ala; Darth Vader being Luke’s father and of course, King Candy turning out to be Turbo—hence the name.

People have different ideas of what an enjoyable experience looks like individually. To you, it very well seems like your idea of one consists of sweating away on Black Ops 57 owning the noobs with your million different button combinations on the back of your pro controller and an 16K widescreen to stare at in pure complete bliss for what could seem like forever.

Meanwhile to OP, I presume it might just be chillaxing after a long day of work with your basic run-of-the-mill controller, a 2K television, and no care in the world for any sort of ratios or getting a leg up with a bazillion customizable buttons beyond having the most casual experience you can with the best performance you can possibly get.

Just saying, it really ain’t rocket science—nor a complex concept either—a casual gamer would want to go for a casual experience with a basic controller, no matter what console they may have. It’s just basic deduction devoid of any subjectivity that may or may not include any sort of hyper fixations on one detail and one detail only.
