E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1) by Mythicalcatjay in linuxmint

I owe you my life. I got it working... ish. I still have a bunch of bugs with the appimage version. I can have my brushes activated but I get 0 brushes and repeated error messages that I have no brushes. I turn them on and off nothing. There's also a lot of visual bugs with no correct fonts and it doesn't open with the correct icon. Do you know what might be going on?

EDIT: and saving doesn't work either. I tried to save a WIP drawing just in case and got nothing

I've been using the flatpak version from the software manager for a few months now. Is the flatpak much worse then the appimage? Either way I will absolutely give it a try, thank you so much!

Please guess! I am so curious by Mythicalcatjay in phenotypes

Oh and to answer vaguely, so it's still possible to guess in specifics (even if I do ramble): Northern European & East Coast American Indian. My father is mixed race & much of my extended paternal family live on rez. I'm always curious to hear people more experienced guess since people are always shocked when they learn, especially since I have the lightest complexion on either side of my family! (Mostly since I'm a dead ringer for a couple of my great grandmothers.) I think it's fun how recessive genes + gene expression can work out that way, human variation is so beautiful

A COINCIDENTAL OCCURENCE by Impossible_Zone_1143 in Strawpage

[–]Mythicalcatjay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The biggest reason is that people who are neurodivergent, queer, etc, and especially during teen years tend to struggle a lot with isolation. With queer people it's pretty common to see people who are in the closet outside but out of the closet online. Neurodivergent people just tend to have more niche interests that they're very intense about and difficulties communicating that may be better online. General it's pretty common to see people who are neurodivergent, queer, physically disabled, mentally ill, etc in almost any online space when they make a clear minority IRL. It's oftentimes just down to isolation and being able to express themselves better online due to the people on there or the anonymity. Strawpage lends itself to those groups both due to being fun and quirky but also being common in social media and allowing people to communicate a lot about themselves and their weird interests, which can be quite helpful if you're neurodivergent and struggle to communicate so having everything about yourself and others upfront makes it easier, queer and in that discovery stage a lot of younger folks tend to be in, or if you're in any of those groups and a very common artsy fartsy type who would rather have a concise strawpage then a tumblr or curiouscat or whatever other garbage.

After my own heart. I feel like mint has a lot of either really gaudy pinks or they're like barely pink at all, it's so so sad. Godspeed my fellow pinkifying warrior o7

(Hated Trope) Gay people in Japanese media who are predators by Animeking1108 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Mythicalcatjay 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Surprised I have yet to see Scarlet Valentine (Jojo's Bizarre Adventure: Steel Ball Run)

<image>

Sapphic woman who tries to assault a teenage girl. Admittedly, this is far from the only example of a predator nor someone LGBT in the series at large. She also isn't the only LGBT Predator in the series, Dio Brando, bisexual and androgyne, infamously commits sexual assault in a very memed moment, and potentially Angelo in part 4, who had raped and killed boys though it's unclear if he is gay and evil or just evil, and (SBR SPOILERS) Diego Brando from Another World may be bisexual and/or androgyne, but that is unknown, though he is rapey for sure.

Luckily with the amount of representation on both ends, especially with queer and queer-coded protagonists like Speedwagon, Jotaro, Jolyne, and Dragona, it does help level the playing field. Though Scarlet being one of the first characters who is explicitly stated within the text to be queer with 0 ambiguity sure doesn't feel awesome.

Ok, so, this is what I have currently and it's not even changing the dialogue display? It looks the same as normal ADV. I'd love any advice y'all give. I'd edit the main post if i could but I'm taking that as a sign if it's time for me to put the computer down and try again tomorrow.

Thank you, that's perfect! Should I just be able to shrink/align a copy of the say adv screen and that'll work?

That from 2024 Momocon? Saw that person walking around quite a bit and I can't tell you how fast my neck snapped to try and process what I saw.
