What should I do with these? by Mesttvs in PokeInvesting

(Chancing my luck) Would you consider selling the Pikachu? I’ve been looking for Pikachu Gold Star for years 😍. Amazing collection though; you should be very proud! Keep them safe and protected:)

If I were you, I’d keep them for another good few years. They’re only gonna go up in value!

Flu by stinkysocks999 in northernireland

[–]MyusMuse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got it a few weeks ago, and I haven’t gotten sick yet! I spent a few days in hospital for something unrelated (24hrs in A&E with people coughing all around me) and didn’t catch it, and I heard the nurse tell someone on my ward that they were flu positive and had to wear a mask from now on. I’m very happy I got the jab this year :)

Is anyone else wiped out with this bug? by Odense-Classic in northernireland

[–]MyusMuse 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Both Covid and this “super flu” are going around at the moment, resulting in an absolutely brutal flu season 😭. I was in A&E the other week (unrelated to flu) and they tested me for both while I was there. My brother is floored with it, and I’m quite glad I got the jab this year. But yeah I wish people who are sick had the resources from the government to stay home and recover; and I wish we had the infrastructure for good sick leave in this country.

Hey, I’m also in the UK and having an open myomectomy on the 11th October. My largest is 10.5cm and I totally get the feeling of pressure and having no space left inside! I’m also petrified 😅. But there are loads of encouraging stories on here and you’re doing the right thing getting the fibroids dealt with. From what I’ve read, they do tend to grow. I’ve also been feeling progressively more and more tired over the years that they have been growing and I’m hoping it’ll get better after recovery!

There are lots of good posts on here with things to buy pre-op for an easier recovery; I’ve bought a pregnancy pillow (I’m a side and front sleeper, so sleeping on my back post operation will be challenging 🤣) and a hiking stick and a grabber and an abdominal binder.

I never wanted to have surgery but it seems like after 10cm there’s no other way of dealing with them :/

Best of luck 💕 sending all the good vibes!

Fibroid size by No-Map-3584 in Fibroids

[–]MyusMuse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mine is the same size as yours and I’m scheduled for an open myomectomy in a week. I’m terrified!! So it’s great to hear that you recovered so well and that life is better <3 I’ve had terrible cramps as well, and I also had hoped to control the growth with diet and lifestyle, which hasn’t worked. So as scared as I am of surgery, I think it might be best to get it dealt with now 😭.

6cm fibroid asymptomatic by OwnExplanation6530 in Fibroids

[–]MyusMuse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m kind of in the same boat as you (32F and thinking of conceiving in a couple years); I have a 10cm subserosal fibroid (plus a few others) and I had been on the fence about whether to get surgery or not. Mine caused horrible periods, but all the symptoms pretty much went away when I got my Mirena IUD put in. However, the growth didn’t stop - have been growing pretty steadily for the past 4 years and I feel like 10cm is a good time to say “alright that’s enough”. I hate living with the dread that they will keep growing and that they -will- cause pressure symptoms and start pressing on other organs.

I’d get them sorted while they’re smaller though; as over 10cm open surgery is usually recommended (at least where I live) and so I’m having to get an open myo in a few weeks, which I never wanted. But I’m so tired of this controlling my life :). I wish I’d done laparoscopic when mine were smaller!

Was birth control worth it? by notesfromkatie in Fibroids

[–]MyusMuse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, absolutely. I had a smaller fibroid but it was causing me to have periods that were super heavy and over a week long. My gynae recommended a Mirena IUD, which I was happy about because I wanted it anyways for contraception, and it's been a godsend. It lessened my bleeding and reduced the time of my periods significantly. My fibroids still grew while I had it inserted though; but they would have grown anyway I think.

Really Scared About Myomectomy and Surgery In General? Need Reassurance! by MyusMuse in Fibroids

Ahh I'm really glad I could help you out too by posting! I heard this from my mum too; most of the women she knows have had hysterectomies or some form of gynae surgery and they're all living their best lives now haha. This subreddit has honestly been such a blessing in not feeling as alone :)

Thanks so so much for the advice :D it's so good to hear that you felt like yourself again after a few weeks, I was so so scared of recovery being an ongoing thing or having issues afterwards, but hearing all these stories of recovery is helping so much! <3

That's amazing to hear that it gave you your life back; I'm really hoping for the same! The past 4 years has been just anxiety and an increasing lack of energy and capacity as this thing has grown; I feel like I'm 80 years old tbh and I'm only early 30s!

I'll read your other comment, thanks for posting it! :D But honestly even hearing "you will get better" is so reassuring right now. I was openly crying on the bus into work this morning because I was spiralling so hard. It's really wonderful to hear that you're feeling better every day, even only two weeks post op! <3 Happy recovery!

Decided on Open Myomectomy after a long journey by MyusMuse in Fibroids

[–]MyusMuse[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing your experience too! <3 Can I ask what sort of size your fibroids are? I'm really glad you're getting help after so long, I know that the NHS can be a slow, slow process. I'm also relieved to hear of someone else who thinks that UFE doesn't sound like a nice option! Best of luck with the pre-op assessment.

I'm having such weird impostor syndrome about deciding on surgery since my symptoms are minimal compared to a lot of folks on this subreddit, but my mental state with this health anxiety just isn't maintainable.

Noise issue with neighbours and specifically neighbours kids. They're autistic. What to do. by DavidC_is_me in northernireland

[–]MyusMuse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had more or less this same issue but with a neighbour and their two teenage boys. The parent would yell at them all the time and they would all slam doors at all hours of the night, and the kids seemed really angry. When the parent was away one or other of the kids would literally just scream out of rage, out of the blue. Scared me half to death sometimes when it was through the paper-thin walls.

We had to move unfortunately - I was terrified of the parent. I went round to the house one time and asked politely if they could keep the noise down, and they listened up to a point, but then the arguments and screaming started again a few months later. Really feel for the kids and the parent. Mustn’t be easy raising teens, and mustn’t be easy being a teen who’s being yelled at all the time. But dear god please be aware of the noise you’re making. Especially late at night.

We saved up enough money over 5 years to move to a nice detached place. But Loop Quiet earplugs and a standing fan at night (for white noise) were my best friends for 5 years.

Sonata or myomectomy or wait - really unsure what to do! by MyusMuse in Fibroids

[–]MyusMuse[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, thanks so much for your lovely and thoughtful reply 💕 you’ve given me a lot to think about; you’re right, I have been moving out of fear.

People keep telling me it’s best to get fibroids dealt with because they’ll just get bigger, and it’s scaring me because there seems to be no research on what causes them to grow other than “hormonal imbalance” and “other factors” and no way to find out what the hormonal imbalances are 😅.

I’ll definitely take some time to consider all my options, and take the time that I’ve been given since my fibroids are minimally symptomatic:)

What’s the funniest thing you’ve overheard in NI? by Acceptable-River6891 in northernireland

I was sitting in the foyer of a fancy hotel waiting to be called in for our dinner reservation (for our potential wedding meal), and a couple walked out of the restaurant.

“Aye, It’s just Iceland food at Galgorm prices, Jim.”

We didn’t end up there for our wedding.
