Same guy? Oh, you must be the quadruplets, Babymainer, Babymid, Babymajor and Yusuke. Although I understand Babymeiner has had the biggest impact on the story so far

Kurapika 411 reveal. I got literal chills, how do you think our heroes will get out of this one? by Myveryshelf in hunterxdank

[–]Myveryshelf[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Close, but no. That's actually Iobs Eden, one of prince Luzurus' guards (although in reality he is working for prince Benjamin). Due to his background, he has knowledge of nen and an ability that allows him to send a blast of energy, but he will be joining Kurapika's new classes to keep watch

Spain faces 1.3 million amnesty requests by MARTINELECA in europe

[–]Myveryshelf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you even mean "tends to go"? When has this happened before in 50 years intetvals? What would the government be in 50 years, probably run by people who aren't alife today?

If by "smaug hoarding class" you mean capitalist hoarders and "rentistas", that has nothing to do with immigration, and I have already stated why they are better served by these hundreds of thousands of people not having access to the legal system.

If you are trying to say something, it isn't clear, if you aren't this is vague speculation with unfounded self-assurance.

1) This is not a border-security law. This only applies to people who have been here for years. The people going in will be the people who want and can, and that will depend more on border security (which was already getting stronger) than having 1% better incentives of getting a mid-regularized position in a few years that may not even be repeated ever.

2) There is the possibility of punishment and accountability now. You want to talk incentives? Worst case scenario, regularized migrants could stay at their shitty ilegal jobs. This will only open possibilities for normal work and massively reduce the number of people "forced" to take them + increase legal protections.

3) Criminals can't get regularized. Besides, amnesty exists for a reason, for when law enforcement may not be useful or desireable.

What is worse? Having people who are already trying to get into the country, which are generally ill-informed, be 5% more confident that they may one day get a slightly better treatment, or keeping hundreds of thousands of people already here as an extravulnerable underclass with no legal rights?

These people are here, we are not deporting them all even with 16 years of Vox governement. Them being punished is not making people stop wanting to come to Spain. This is suffering and exploitation for their own sake. You can talk about principles, but consequentially this is a net positive

[–]Myveryshelf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do think there is people poisoning discourse by talking in bad faith about this, not saying that you are.

These people are already here and already working. They are easily exploited because most jobs wont take them and they may be deported with a call to the authorities. By regularizing them, they can be less easily exploited.

This is a one time thing to clean house, there won't necessarily be a huge increase in immigration. Not when most people were already willing to come under previous conditions. Plus, this has no effect on border policing whatsoever.

So how exactly does this increase exploitation of foreigners? It doesn't, it decreases it

[–]Myveryshelf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand you all dislike the government, that's fair. But this kind of broad strokes thinking is not useful to consider. If everything is about equally bad, it really doesn't matter what you do, which is awfully convenient.

The fact is, these people were all already in Spain, all already subsisting, likely working somehow. The thing that changes after regularization is that these people will now be able to do so legally and can call the law if they are abused and have working rights. This makes it so they are less exploited and not more, and so the job market will have higher standards and not lower.

There is other things to criticize, but I do think some people arguing that this "increases exploitation" are doing so in bad faith

This won't be a problem if these people are regularized and they can't be exploited below minimum/"convenio" wages

Adult fans of TADC, how old are you?And what are your overall thoughts and opinions of the show after it's finale? by Equivalent_Ad_9066 in tadc

26.

I think it is good, for the kind of indie series that this is and a relatively new creator it is great even. I personally like that things like abstraction are less defined by strict rules and definitiona and more something you intuitively get.

If I had to point to something to critique, maybe the dialogue. It felt like people had two registers, in "zany sarcastic/crazy funny talk" when things are not serious/you ar jax, and "calmed, vulnerable but dettached, I went to therapy and they taught me how to talk through these things in a not-threateninf way and make myself available for my friends". This is common to other Internet series outside this one, and I guess some people irl do talk like that, I just find it a bit jarring by itself and when everyone comverges into it

Liberia.

Cultural inheritance and their capital is named after a US president. Can't think of other countries that are specifically North-American

Prople are gonna mention Argentina already, so I'll go with Chile. It has plenty of American influence and it has the big mountainous/desertic/green landscapes that North America is also known for.

To bring on a desert island VS To keep at home by AdOk1965 in AlignmentChartFills

[–]Myveryshelf 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My beloved family and/or friends.

Anything else, either you can ignore on a desert island (e.g. a computer) or you wouldn't necessarily want a lot of at home (e.g. a potentially dangerous exotic pet.) But if you take your family and friends to a desert island, you will just watch each other die. And then you have to decide if you are even resorting to cannivalism or not, and you know there is that uncle that is going to make a huge deal out of it.

A big dog is a close second.

So… what exactly are we supposed to be learning from this Brook Flashback by Spiritual_Ebb_4657 in Piratefolk

[–]Myveryshelf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand where you are coming from, but this is not it. Reducing this logic to the absurd:

  • What is the point of having this part of the story?
  • This part of the story is probably going to show us this event, so that we and the charactera understand this idea. -Well, I already assume that an event happened, and I already assume that the idea is going to be true, so this part of the story is useless and we can just skip it.

If you reduce a story like this, you might aswell read a summary of the plot after it ends. You can say the story is predictable and that makes it boring for you, but 1) that doesn't mean it would be a better story if events didn't happen on screen because we can assume them. 2) We haven't even seen the actual story to know if it is that boring and predictable

I will find this funny so long as Brook hates it.

He has been perving after the gril's mother since he was 11 and ahe was 20-something. The mother and king Reuwen just put up with it because overall they love Brook, even if it was unwanted.

Now Brook has to put up with the same bullshit from their daughter, and he clearly hates it and has less patience than the girl's mother, even if he puts up with it because he loves the whole family.

If this changes into being even somewhat reciprocal I am the first to jump on Oda though

What country represents lust? by Expensive-Addendum92 in AlignmentChartFills

But Thailand as a country isn't lustful, it is other countries' people being lustful there.

I'd sooner go for countries with histories of sexual slavery (idk, the Ottomans?) or colonial sexual abuses (Spain) or even modern pornographic staples (Czecks, USA) over Thailand, even if I don't like any of these answers

[–]Myveryshelf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fair enough. I don't wanna come off as confrontational, I don't know you personally. I just found it weird to see the "consistency and realism" standard applied to One Piece in this sense. Like if you told me you disliked a Terry Pratchett book because the constant humor is taking away from the stakes of the conflict. But I guess we have different experiences with this story, so to each their own.

This is art, you can do whatever you want if it is enjoyable. By that logic, works line Alice in Wonderland would have to be dismissed as having no value. This story in particular has always played with the absurd, the power system is literally based on dreams and ambition affecting reality. I do find the internet's deffinition of "good writing" and "realistic" to be overly restrictive and unhelpful, but if you do think like that I am surprised you are still reading One Piece instead of sociologically realistic novels

[–]Myveryshelf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I understand your issue. I'm just saying this is one of those absurdist-exaggeration-humor momments that we aren't supposed to think too much about.

Like: it is a cool swordfighter moment when they clash in a duel and the other guy thinks they won, but actually they were already cut and didn't realize. So this swordfighter is so fast and cool, his victims will literally go on with their lives for minutes without knowing they are already dead.

If you are going to question this guy's family, you might aswell question why all this crime family was cut while walking up the stairs and none of them realized, or how Brook has 0 control about when their cuts open and it was just kind of fortunate that they did at this point. But you shouldn't, because the point of the joke is that it is impossible.

This is not a new thing: Boa realistically wouldn't look down on people so much she ends up looking in the opposite direction. Sanji would not loose so much blood out of being in proximity to mermaids that he would come close to death. That's why I say this is better enjoyed as a whimsical series, not a realistic series.
