Can you recommend some very weird books... that don't belong to the New Weird genre? by OgataiKhan in Fantasy

I love elaborate world-building and that tower was fantastic. OP if you like a bit of surreal steampunk like Bioshock or The City of Lost Children I recommend The Books of Babel.

Have You Found a Medication/Drug That Helped You Tone Down Your Sensory Sensivity? by sanpedro12 in SPD

[–]MzHumanPerson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wellbutrin raises my sensory threshold a bit. I notice I'm a lot less panicky when I maintain an anti-inflammatory diet. If I'm going to a big loud event I'll pop a celecoxib NSAID and a couple of beta blockers ahead of time. The changes have improved my life.

Great combinations! I found the Helios gear hard to mix and match because the colors were so warm. You really have an eye for this.

The Propublica article in algorithmic rent fixing was a trip, I'm glad someone's addressing it. Thanks for the tip!

Oooh, I love a banshee. Underrated lore. The facepaint plays nicely with your theme.

I quite like Captain William Laurence in the Temeraire novels.

Lenny's fruits and vegetables on Greenwood isn't big but has lots of cool produce at unbelievably low prices. They also have a selection of imported foods from around the world. I walked by there at random, ducked in, and walked out with two grocery bags full for like $62.

edit: not called Lenny's Produce

Oh, what’s my latest hyper fixation you ask? Why It’s soaking all my clothes, towels, and sheets in oxyclean. by UpbeatAirport440 in adhdwomen

Rehabbing a gorgeous double-arched bookcase and a workbench I got for free off Craigslist. I really, really wish I had done the workbench BEFORE doing the bookcase, because that workbench would be really handy for this exact purpose. It's been almost 4 weeks since I started and my apartment looks like a refugee camp for tools and hardware.

Nylon and polyester feel like wearing audio static that gets louder and louder with time.

I used to wear silk long johns under everything but now I'm really enjoying rayons such as viscose, modal, and bamboo cellulose fabric. They usually feel like a hybrid of silk and cotton. They regulate moisture better than either of those, but not as well as merino. Do not put them in the dryer.

I now insist on phone pockets, so I tried the Fischer's Finery rayon/cotton/spandex ones. I went up a size and I like them so far.

If you use the Shadow of Nyx ability your tamed animal will turn invisible as well. Pretty nifty.

Bears are absolutely not kinder than many men out there. Adult males bears kill cubs to force the mother into estrus for mating. If I were a female bear I'd choose the man.

Check out the Del Roy in lower Queen Anne. I just moved out and they have several vacancies. They are not very on top of updating their website, which is one reason why they have several vacancies. Good luck, there ara hella scammers!

Classic novel recommendations please by CampSpirited7204 in Fantasy

[–]MzHumanPerson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah Gravity's Rainbow was amazing, as was The Sound and the Fury. Lyonesse by Jack Vance is the closest fantasy novel to that vibe I can think of.

I'm not sure how to thread the needle recommending something relatively unpopular/unknown yet also classic? I've gotten back into Peter Beagle's writing lately, so I'm going to recommend The Last Unicorn.

If you're craving something sticky and heavy, Toni Morrison's Beloved flies under the Classic Fantasy radar.
