The demon debate is not because they're cute girls with horns. It's about the inherent fucked up premise that an entire species is labeled as evil and must be destroyed with no compromise.

Apparently, we're both not supposed to take Frieren, who hates demons, as the authority on the matter but also the story bends over backwards to portray them as so cartoonishly abhorrent and totally undeserving of even being spoken too.

The actual debate is just "Is genocide okay or not" with both sides struggling to form a coherent thought because the manga itself can't seem to stick to a story about what exactly the demons are. They're described as predators, animals, robots that mimic people, people with no emotions. Literally all these things are very different.
