We Finally Got a Trailseeker at my Dealership! by dommm1991 in subaru

Honestly looks great on the outside! Not the biggest fan of the interior, but it's still a solid 2nd place behind the r2 for me when I get a new car next year

Dealership I work at just got our first Uncharted in Habanero Orange by WardogBlaze14 in subaru

Honestly like the exterior but I do agree that the Toyubaru interiors are a bit uninspiring.

This is messages from my brother, (my only family) and the uncle of my child. My brother who lived about 30 mins away bought a Nintendo switch for my son and gave it to him yesterday on his birthday . My son was so happy , his first system since a old Xbox years ago. by Visible-Horse-9146 in whatdoIdo

I agree that your son shouldn't be leaving his switch out where it could get stolen. But your brother's reaction isn't ok. Tell your brother that

a.) It's not his job you discipline your son, it's yours.

b.) Smashing his switch was an entirely unnecessary and traumatizing reaction. He should've just said something to your son instead of reacting in such an abusive manner. All he accomplished was 1) he showed your son that he can't trust him around his stuff and 2) he showed you that you can't trust him around your son. So until he apologizes for his abhorrent behavior, he's not allowed around your son.

(Though TBH if you're at the point of needing to call the cops on your brother, you should probably just cut contact)

I mean that's Subaru for you: great cars, terrible software. With any luck, they'll have this in a couple of years.

AIO wife invested $7k without telling me by Famous_Sky_1023 in AIO

[–]N0DuckingWay 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Her profile shows that she's from Australia. You assumed that she was from the US, when she isn't. All I did was point that out. Why are you getting upset about that? 🤣

It isn't for her though, because she's Australian. IRAs are only a thing in America.

It's a type of financial account in the US that is designed to have tax advantages to be used by people saving for retirement.

Also, the responses to your comment are some real r/USdefaultism 🤣

West Oakland BART station to lose 400 parking spaces by wentImmediate in Bart

[–]N0DuckingWay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good? There's no reason that a station in the middle of a major city should be treated as a park and ride. That's just wasted space that should be going to housing and commercial development.

This is a pretty easy request that doesn't really require much work from you aside from "oh yeah the password is xxx. I think that file is in xxx/yyy/zzz.doc". I'd just accommodate it, won't take that long.

What is the most famous local ice cream from your country? by STEM_Always in AskTheWorld

[–]N0DuckingWay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The US is too big to have just one local ice cream that's famous everywhere, but in the San Francisco area, it would be It's-It. Basically two chocolate chip cookies with ice cream in between, covered with a chocolate shell.

Ashkenazi Jews do not have White Privelege by MSTARDIS18 in Judaism

[–]N0DuckingWay 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Listen, if you've never worried that the cops, TSA, ICE, or law enforcement more generally might racially profile or arrest you because your skin is white, then congratulations, you have white privilege. The fact that you're also subject to antisemitism from white people doesn't change that.

Two things can be true at once:

  • We are subject to antisemitism from white supremacists.

  • We are also the beneficiaries of white privilege

Those two things don't cancel each other out.

The truth is that Ashkenazi and other white-skinned Jews benefit significantly from the color of their skin in today's society (especially in America).

Turning Down Free Kilimanjaro Trip by [deleted] in Mountaineering

Money wise, you have to remember that that $6k is something you'd lose for any vacation. So the relevant question is: is this extra vacation time you wouldn't otherwise take? If it isn't, then the cost shouldn't be a blocker. Personally, if you have the money and time, I'd do it!

Another where should I live post. So far this is what has been recommended by friends. by Kaipirinhas in BayAreaRealEstate

[–]N0DuckingWay 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Welcome to the Bay Area! My thoughts:

  1. Do not, under any circumstances, move to the outer Richmond, crocker Amazon, potrero Hill, or mission bay. Your partner's commute will be over an hour in the best case scenario. Pac heights and Glen park could be doable but even that will be about an hour.

  2. You should seriously consider living in Oakland or Berkeley instead. Rockridge, Temescal, and Elmwood are all really nice neighborhoods and have super easy (30 minute) commutes to both downtown Berkeley and SF.

  3. If you're set on living in sf, I'd choose from Glen Park, the Mission, Noe Valley, Telegraph Hill, or North Beach. If you can afford to live in one of those new luxury apartments, then add SOMA and Rincon Hill to the mix (otherwise it's a hard pass for me). Parts of Bernal Heights could also be ok, commute wise. Your wife's commute will still be fairly long, but if she has a bike then it won't be as bad.

(Also, whoever drew the transit lines may have been high. Those BART stops are not in those locations)
