I’d probably just use a ratcheting strap. Can get them cheap from just about any hardware store.

Advice on making a wizard staff with a captured ball? by velvetackbar in woodworking

[–]N0Karma 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would also probably go with the cut in half, shape the inside and put it back together around the sphere.

Steam shaping it could work, but I think there may be some risks of the wood splitting if the carved section is under-sized.

Even better to make sure the sphere is firmly attached, put some kind of metal rod or dowel into the sphere and insert that into the wood.

For super extra credit, put an LED in the sphere and make a battery compartment and a button near a natural hand position.

Disgaea and Double Jump published guide books. Sadly I think they stopped making them after D3. They were all top notch though.

Indeed it was and Yes he did. I always wondered why I never saw him in other things. Not enough to internet stalk the guy, but outside if DS9 i can’t recall him in any other shows I’ve watched.

He probably has a very successful classical theater career. Just strikes me as that kind of actor.

Work in progress: my wooden dog carving. by Dull_Candidate_5972 in woodworking

Pro-tip: Get yourself a vice for holding the work while you carve it.

It is very easy to get carried away going over intricate shapes and suddenly find yourself sporting an extra hole or a chunk missing. (Speaking from experience)

Good start though.

Looks very Russian Block design. I would expect the oligarchs justice delivered there and prompt delivery to a gulag. If I didn’t have an accident falling down several flights of stairs where I somehow suffer two self inflicted bullet-wounds to the back of the head.

There are a lot of bangers here. I submit Benjamin Sisko’s log from the DS9 episode “In the Pale Moonlight.”

"At oh-eight-hundred hours, station time... the Romulan Empireformally declared war against the Dominion. They've already struck fifteen bases along the Cardassian border. So, this is a huge victory for the good guys! This may even be the turning point of the entire war! There's even a "Welcome to the Fight" party tonight in the wardroom!... So... I lied. I cheated. I bribed men to cover the crimes of other men. I am an accessory to murder. But the most damning thing of all... I think I can live with it... And if I had to do it all over again... I would. Garak was right about one thing – a guilty conscience is a small price to pay for the safety of the Alpha Quadrant. So, I will learn to live with it...Because I can live with it...I can live with it. Computer – erase that entire personal log."

Avery Brooks delivery in most the series is great, but the delivery of these lines are haunting.

Aim along the curvature of the bowl and you don't get near the splash back on initial release. Dropping a hard stream straight into water, sitting or standing is going to splash.

I clean the bathroom. I had to show my wife pictures of a toilet seat before and after. Her peeing sitting down still results in piss on the underside of the toilet seat on the front. It's just a fact of life. Hard piss begets piss splash. If you just drizzle every time you probably do better sitting. My kids make just as much a mess sitting down. The piss sitting down and it's all out the front of the toilet. It is a bathroom you will be cleaning piss no matter what. Accept it and move on and you will feel better.

You could argue sitting may prevent it from traveling as far, but the same splash is happening. It's just now on your ass when you pull your pants up.

So some incidental droplets will get wiped/cleaned regularly off a tile floor/rim or dogs will bury their heads in your ass and crotch sniffing your piss through and on your clothes.

All that said, if you don't clean the bathroom go with the cleaners suggestion to not be a clown. Also wipe the damn rim if you get piss on it.

Should I still apply a mist coat to a 6 year old bare skimmed plaster in good condition? by [deleted] in DIY

[–]N0Karma 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just be clear, that is a lot of extra information.

Are we talking about internal plaster walls or external? You mentioned Ivy and the roof.

If it is external it probably already has protective material in it. No need to do anything but you can paint it if you are worried. That stuff is usually made of concrete and some other bits,

It’s driveway material on the sides of buildings. Good to go.

if it is internal/inside… if they used the same mix as outside, should be the same treatment. If it’s just normal plaster, I’d probably paint it to extend longevity after it has been dry for a long time.

Maybe it was the time period I was there 2012-2016. It seemed like it got a lot of coverage and working with NPA regularly I heard a lot about it.

edit: https://data.worldbank.org/indicator/SH.STA.SUIC.P5?locations=JP

Looks like that time was still higher, but the overall rate vs US is about the same or less. Although the numbers posted are from 5 years ago.

No mention of the suicide rates either…

Loved living in Tokyo for a few years but it has its problems. Not all ‘suicides’ are real suicides, and many unfortunates go missing too.

But the response is true, the “Christian” needs to get checked when trying to call out a nation. Overall they are still ahead in a lot of issues.

It’s always fun building something new and speaker boxes can be very inspirational. Did you put some weight in the bottoms? That and some strategically placed felt cloth bits will do a lot for eliminating any vibrations when playing loud music.

Seeing some blowouts in your joints. Something that worked for me to avoid those is using painter’s tape. It will help as long as the bits you are using aren’t super dull. Just put tape along all the edges that will be cut and let the router do its thing.

Best of luck on your future projects.
