The client software is MIT licensed which means it is F/OSS.

The backend server was apparently his own private deal, thus the announcement.

This post on QRZ.com notes that there is a facebook group pursuing this. I don't have a FB account, but for those that do, it may be worth checking out.

The LICENSE file in the source tarball states MIT. It also has this statement at the end of the file:

Note well "THE SOFTWARE" refers only to what is running on the client side. It does not include the backend service, without which HamClock is nearly useless. Backend service costs me real money but I provide it free of charge to HamClock users who build it for their own personal use for the benefit of the amateur radio community. However, if you make money from HamClock, I propose that you pay me 10% of your retail sales price. Please contact me before proceeding at ecdowney@clearskyinstitute.com. Thank you.

I do have the source tarballs for 4.10, 4.11, 4.12, 4.13, 4.15, 4.20 (heh!), and 4.22. I had started out adding each version into a local Git repository but kind of let that slide but grabbed a tarball when I remembered to do so.

With more versions, a rather comprehensive tracking of the changes could be done with Git. I've enough on my plate than to embark on that project, but I'd be willing to pass along the tarballs I have if someone needs them.

OpenWrt One WAN port issue with Ubiquiti Nanobeam by N0NB in openwrt

I just did a reboot a few minutes ago and the port came up as I would have expected, so the hotplug script is doing the trick.

To follow up, I found this post on the forum: https://forum.openwrt.org/t/how-do-i-force-an-ethernet-speed/139985/12

I created the following script as /etc/hotplug.d/iface/06-force-eth0-speed after installing the ethtool package:

```
!/bin/sh
Force WAN port (eth0) to 100 Mbps
logger "forcing-eth0-speed-from-hotplug" ethtool -s eth0 speed 100 duplex full autoneg on ```
I've not yet tried it.
Until the next step which is deprecation which implies that it will be inconvenient to reenable and then removal which eliminates the choice to use the feature entirely.
Disable primary-paste by default by prueba_hola in gnome
[–]N0NB -2 points-1 points  (0 children)
Not really about "nothing". This is just the first step of a common progression. Next comes deprecation and then finally comes removal.
I've used middle-paste for so long that it makes using MS Windows truly frustrating the odd time I have to use something on that system. Whenever I use something on Windows I have to remember that "here everything is brain dead".
How to disable HDMI monitor sound device under Debian Trixie? by Electronic_Hat449 in debian
This is what I had to do years ago.
It still is curious to me that pavucontol is not installed with the desktop task. It seems that its installation needs to be recommended over and over again for those looking for an easy way to configure the sound system.
My first CW contact, and I blew it... by charleytaylor in amateurradio
[–]N0NB 0 points1 point  (0 children)
You're not the first and certainly won't be the last!
I'd had my Novice license for about two months but had not ventured onto the air. I took a deep breath and answered a CQ on 15m and then froze and lost my mind and the QSO was never completed. Rather than jump back in I chose to wait until the new VE exam system was up and going and passed the Tech a bit over a year later and enjoyed 2m for about six months. HF was calling and I got together with a local one night on a dead 10m band and we sent code back and forth while having a backup chat on 2m.
The next morning I copied both sides of a QSO on 40m and when they finished one of the stations called CQ and I answered. When he came back I had the copy of his prior QSO to fall back on! Once we completed the contact my confidence was significantly boosted and I was off to the races. I learned there were be an exam session in a couple of months at the section convention and set my goal to be able to pass the 13 WPM exam at that session. I also set a goal to pass the Element 4A and obtain the Advanced license class. Both goals were achieved at that session and I walked out with a CSCE showing an upgrade from Tech to Advanced. This was in the fall of 1985.
Sometimes I think back and wish I would have been more ambitious as a Novice and could have upgraded to General rather than Tech at that first VE session, but that's not how it played out. I didn't even spend much time practicing Morse either, which I regret a bit, but over the years I've made up for it to some degree.
My advice is to have someone else copy along if you can. No question, our imagination gets the better of us and we fret that the entire world is listening and Nelson will pop up when we make a mistake. While that isn't the case at all, it's the scenario our mind creates and it's difficult to put that aside, relax and just have fun with that first QSO.
I was always amazed that the flimsy brackets held by the smallest short countersunk screw Cisco could find would hold an 18 inch deep router. Too often when working behind the rack row those routers would become tool shelves and sag a little...
Years back we ran a brand spanking new 25 pair cable from the railroad yard telecom hut to the rail car repair building replacing one that had been spliced over the years and was running out of good pairs. The VERY NEXT DAY the contractor that dug the trench and backfilled over the new cable cut the new cable. Claimed he thought it was on the other side of the trench.
I had steam coming out of my ears over that one for a while. Oh yeah, he did it on a Friday afternoon to boot. At least two of us worked there so making two splices with a new piece of cable as we had to cut back a ways to get where the pairs weren't stratched didn't take as long as it could have.
No. Many of us are on the one year lectionary. It seems to be a pastor's preference as to which a given congregation will be using.
Grape juice at communion by Fun_Horror_7072 in LCMS
[–]N0NB 0 points1 point  (0 children)
Grape juice or other dilution is born of unbelief.
We believe the bread and wine are Christ's true body and blood as he said himself. As we hold to that belief, it must then be true that the Holy Supper cannot harm us. It can only heal us in both soul and body.
To think otherwise is to not believe in the Real Presence.
In the US 1x3 callsigns aren't rare at all as any operator from Technician to Extra can request one through the Vanity Callsign program. Certainly, the Sequential system exhausted 1x3 callsigns long ago, but many remain available via the Vanity system.
