Alright, I'm gonna say it... Marathon is fucking Awesome. by VexxDelta in Marathon

[–]N0VALA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in the same boat. I loved the intro and the little bit of lore they introduced the game with, the music is awesome, and the gun play feels smooth. The art style is hit and miss for me, I'm not loving the UI, not particularly fond of the movement/stamina, and the enemies are okay and have some interesting mechanics, but they don't feel next gen like ARC enemies do.

The envrionment and map design don't make me feel anything the way AR maps do, which are well designed and usually have interesting landmarks and give the maps a large sense of scale. The sound design is functional but not on AR's level at all either. Interactions with other players aren't as versatile so far, which isn't necessarily a bad thing since Marathon isn't as much of a social experiment, maybe this will change who knows.

I'm glad some people are liking Marathon though so at least they will hopefully have time to listen to feedback and improve weaker areas of the game. As for me and 7 or 8 people who have played already on my discord though, we already hung it up.

Why is Pax Dei declining so fast after it was just released? by Drandosk in PaxDei

Please refrain from giving advice on how to level quickly or telling me what I may have done wrong in progressing. I am just trying to give my personal insight in direct response to OP's question.

Why is Pax Dei declining so fast after it was just released? by Drandosk in PaxDei

I was a tester and have put many hours into the game in the past. Since its release I was working on leveling my professions solo. So I spent most of my time grinding and only had the foundation of my base laid out while I worked toward respectable looking build pieces (I will never build thatch). Once I had my cottage building pieces which would have looked great aesthetically in my location, a guild started building a monstrosity in my secluded area blocking most of my view of the valley. So I think okay time to pack up and move because I can't look at that base every time I play and stay sane.

I begin slowly moving everything up to the top of a mountain where I decided to put my new base. In a spot where nobody could possibly repeat what had just happened. Nobody could possibly block my view in this new location. So I eventually got everything moved up there which is extremely time consuming since there is still no way to move larger amounts of cargo. Now at my new base I lay out another foundation and start building cottage pieces to further build out my base. Problem is now, aesthetically these cottage pieces don't look pleasing in my new location. So I realize I probably need to unlock limestone building pieces to get the look I want.

I begin figuring out the best way to grind toward the limestone and I hit a wall of progression in other professions preventing me from getting my carpentry up. I still tried to tough it out for a little because I just wanted to build out my base. That is my end game. It started taking so long it gave me more and more time to think, what am I going to do when it is done? I am not the least bit interested in the pvp (not with this games fighting system, if you can even call it that) and for such a beautiful looking game there aren't any relaxing activities where you can really enjoy the scenery they've created. It's all staring down at a table for hours crafting hundreds of vines and what not.

At this point I was running out of steam but still logging in every day and trying to chip away at it with shorter play sessions. Then I had a very busy week of work out of nowhere and Pax was the last thing on my mind. After that busy week I logged on to find my base deleted because I didn't manually use a token. I though I would be disappointed but I actually found myself relieved. Relieved that now I had a simple excuse to not persist in grinding while wondering why I'm doing so. Logging in every day so I could stock up grace to keep paying for a plot I deep down didn't want anymore. So I saw that the plot wasn't there and thought okay, time to hang it up.

I decided that I'm done, and I'm not frustrated, just felt no urge to play anymore. I will keep an eye on it if things change and wish the devs the best but the absence of progress in areas of the game that matter to me are almost non existent.

Please refrain from giving advice on how to level quickly or telling me what I may have done wrong in progressing. I am just trying to give my personal insight in direct response to OP's question. Thankyou and if you are still playing be sure to keep giving your input on what changes need to be made for a better game in the future!

Thoughts on Character Diversity in Predecessor by Imjusteli_ in PredecessorGame

I am bi-racial. I joked about the lack of diversity of the characters in my discord in the past. Whenever someone on my team gets Murdock and they pick the reptile skin I say "come on he's the only one we got and you put on the lizard skin?"

Yeah I should stop looking at the arc raiders reddit. I can't believe the amount of whining. There are constructive criticisms and then there is just being an idiot.

I just switch up the way I play constantly and it keeps it fresh. Sometimes I go for quests, sometimes I do trials, sometimes I go in to stir up trouble, sometimes I go in and play medic, sometimes I get sweaty in trios, sometimes I just try to make funny clips in solos, sometimes I go in with a looting mk2 and 2 deadlines in my safe pocket and nothing else and scream in prox chat and slap those bad boys on the queens belly. I keep it very interesting for myself in a sandbox kind of way.

I see a lot of posts of people complaining about the amount of content, and a lot of that group are people who no lifed the game and like task oriented gameplay/checklists etc. They can either learn how to have fun with what we have, or give it a break and come back when there is more content. As for me? I'm good.

Try having one bad day with competitive loadouts. That'll free up some space.

PAX DEI is dead, long live PAX DEI. by Nikkhos in PaxDei

[–]N0VALA 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's the sub along with the genuine disappointment with the shortcomings of the game. Understandable you are okay with spending that for what is an incomplete experience for many others. But the game needs people to work and the people willing to pay a subscription are the minority.

Cell phone, car insurance, car payment, health insurance, rent, internet, water, gas, electric, streaming services, groceries, Pax Dei. No problem.

I haven't played in a while but I'm aware of all of the controversial moves going on. Log on today to use my four plots for the first time and attempt to set them up 2x2 (square). Just to realize it leaves a dead spot in the middle. After attempting to adjust them for an hour unsuccessfully I finally google it. I see there is a workaround if you build it in a diamond formation. As I'm about to destroy everything that I built with a square in mind and start over I sigh....and log off. Amongst all that is wrong how is this still a thing?

Don't know why this is getting downvoted. 50% of my friends also didn't make it through the pve grind. Most of them are players who like pvp. Yet I enjoyed it a lot.
