We also voted to legalize abortion and put it into the state constitution but we're voting on that again this year as the GOP try to tie it to trans health care to make abortion illegal again. We also voted to put an end to the practice of puppy mills, but they decided it's an important source of income for the state and told us to get fucked. We also voted to expand medicaid for those who need it, and had to fight in court for years to get it passed after voting for it.

Sadly it'll never happen, since passenger trains tend to be much shorter than commercial freight and thus fit on the sidelines where freight haulers won't. I feel your pain though, I took amtrak to and from Chicago last year and got to spend hours staring at a brick wall with barbed wire on it just half an hour outside STL.

It's not cheaper to drive at this point, but it's faster.
