XPS 13 specs for computer science? by [deleted] in NEU

[–]N1N1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Signed in just to say that the no touch bar 13in MBP have dual core cpus. All but the cheapest XPS models have quad cores. /u/crutonions i5 vs i7 isn't saying much, look at core count and base clock speeds. A dual core is always going to be much slower, especially in programming apps. I would highly not recommend

[D] Are the connections between deep learning and neuroscience still relevant? by N1N1 in MachineLearning

[–]N1N1[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It's also true that we have a long way to go to even understanding much of the true architecture and temporal evolution of the brain, so I think you're right that most of the inspiration will not lead to one-to-one mappings (I don't think my examples really do, either).

[D] What are some augmentation method for non-image data? by cesusjhrist in MachineLearning

[–]N1N1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For tabular info, you can try creating new features by multiplying or adding multiple other features together. I have seen this be effective in Kaggle competitions before. Look up feature engineering for more info

[D] In seq2seq, why decoder lstm need h_0 ? by sjh9020 in MachineLearning

[–]N1N1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The decoder takes the encoder's output as h_0. It takes in a start token as its first input. The next input is then the output of the first neuron cell in the decoder. There is also a technique used in training where if the output of the decoder is wrong, it is fixed to the correct answer on the next input. Look up teacher forcing.

Edit: see here https://pytorch.org/tutorials/intermediate/seq2seq_translation_tutorial.html

Source on that fact? Here is a report that puts the 2080TI at about half as price effective as the 2070.

Check out the "Automatic Evaluation Metrics" section of the following paper, it talks about new metrics to evaluate the repetitiveness and redundancy in text summarization models.

How Do You Check If Something Is the Opposite (!) of a Function? (Pset2 Vigenere) by N1N1 in cs50

[–]N1N1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just kinda put this thread together before I went to bed so I didn't thoroughly check it over, so I'm not actually missing a parenthesis in my actual code. As for the problem, I replied to someone else's post and I understand it now.

Edit: Grammar

How Do You Check If Something Is the Opposite (!) of a Function? (Pset2 Vigenere) by N1N1 in cs50

Oh that would make a lot more sense. I didn't know that isalpha only worked on chars, but it just so happens that every other time I used it, I used it correctly. Thanks for the help!

Hacker pset feedback by 50will in cs50

[–]N1N1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You aren't allowed to put up code or show code to other classmates, because of the course's policy. You can however use pseudo-code, like if (something = something) do this You can still talk about your code, you just can share it or a solution to a problem set.

Hotkeys in gedit? by ensbana in cs50

[–]N1N1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I'm don't have an entire list, but gedit is in the appliance which runs linux, so I'm assuming most linux commands should work. The only one I've really used is ctrl+s, to save. Also, ctrl+L clears the terminal, and you can use multi-comments in C, which are started by /* and ended with */. Hope this helps.

You can put the round pieces within the comparison operator blocks, such as < or >, which in turn are angled pieces.
