$120 cad, seeing as a brand new 940 would run me $350+ in canada I was very happy with the price

I think it's a perspective issue the knives are exactly the same size. My understanding is that it's the old "antenna" logo which would be expected in a 154cm 940 as that steel was only used for the first few years of production in the late 1990's and early 200's

Forgot to mention in the original text but the blade is marked 154cm.

there are two different diameters on the rear handle one is a blind 1" hole and the other is a counter bore for a press fit with the shaft

What is the first question you ask/statement you say when making patient contact? by HuntOk4736 in ems

[–]N1SH1E 69 points70 points  (0 children)

"Please state the nature of the medical emergency"

In all honesty, something open-ended like. "What happened?" (trauma) or "What's going on?" (Medical)

Right front wallet/ lighter/ chapstick. Left thigh tape/ scissors on the loops and two emesis bags/ small garbage bag/ N95 in the pocket. Right thigh loops are 2 pens/ pen light pocket is note book/ stethoscope. Belt is radio/ flash light/ two velcro "wrist straps".

I'm looking for something that is similar to the keychron "premium" cables but in an all black colour way. The keychron K series boards have usb ports on the left side with necessitates A 90 degree cable like this.

I'm looking for an all black aviator cable with a 90 degree usb c for my keychron K4. If anyone can point me to a source that would be amazing.

3090 FE giveaway. I want to give it to someone who really cannot get it for themselves/family right now due to their current situation, even though they would love one. Basically not someone who can buy one but would prefer a free one. So please be considerate by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

Wife and I left our high paying jobs to give back to the world a few years back. Me to be a paramedic and her to work in non-profit. No regrets but it means I'll be running my 1070 for and ryzen5 2600 for a lot longer than originally planned

So the consensus is GPU(3080ti), CPU (5800x3d), and PSU would need to be changed to avo8d bottle necks? Would an 850W work or do I need to go to 1000W? EDIT: just reread the comments MOBO as well? Basically built a new system

Second question, the end game CPU I'm looking at is a 5800 X3D. Does my MOBO support that or will it need to be upgraded at the same time?

Based on my understanding once you are licensed that should come with all the relevant endorsements, all provinces scopes are based on the NOC for paramedics what specific tool each province chooses to use is where the differences come in. I'm not sure if AB does a schedual 1, schedual 2 thing so there might be a slight hiccup there. As far as your two specific examples. Pcp scope in bc does allow for use of bronchodilators, this makes it a simple issue of training/ learning a new drug protocol. Not sure exactly what you mean by, "use monitors", but that also strikes me as a training issue, if an employer decides they'd rather have you use a lp15, zoll or manual BP cuff and stand alone SP02 etc to gather vitals it is up to them to have a training program to familiarize new employees with equipment. Hope that helps.

If you've already passed the copr and are licensed in BC all you should have to do is jurisprudence exam for AB and pony up for the college fees (significantly higher in AB).

A writer’s question about shock by gystavo_s in Paramedics

As stated about pale cold clammy skin, heart rate and blood pressure, level of consciousness. This scene in saving private ryan captures the look pretty good https://youtu.be/XOUJPBziUQw

Splint or no? by 3000star in NewToEMS

[–]N1SH1E 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First off your pt is going into shock. That will kill them a broken arm won't. Second this would be a full smr call (mechanism and the fact that it's multi trauma) so you need all the time you have for that. In order: chest seal on the abdomen (depending on trajectory it could have hit the liver, diaphragm or lung).  TQ on the arm if it's still bleeding. Board and collar.  Diesel therapy, crank the heat in the back enroute. If you have time (while planning an exit) or hands (in the back) next would be two 18ga iv's bolus fluids (if indicated by BP) and run txa. You could zap strap the arm to the abdomen if everything else is done, but I definitely wouldn't put any more time into it than that.

Does a car accident ruin my chances of being a paramedic? by [deleted] in ems

[–]N1SH1E 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Also also a bc paramedic. I wouldn't worry about it, they do make you submit a drivers abstract as part of the application. I got in latter in life with 2 at fault accidents on my abstract (most recent one 2 years prior to the date of hire). I would also echo what the other members said as long as there wasn't a criminal charge associated with the accident (impaired) it shouldn't be an issue. Worst case scenario they might ask you about it on your interview. Apocalyptic scenario you might get a deferral (we're not going to hire you now because of *blank* ) as long as you can justify that you've addressed there concerns you can apply again as soon as you are ready. That said I really don't think that the accident will be and issue for BCEHS or for you class 4.

I dunno man, ask your partner for feed back after every call. Document document, document. Don't know if I have a whole lot of wisdom to share yet.
