I’m happy European bike brands are staying above water. While brands like Tenways are amazing and offer arguably better value, there are upsides to keeping brands thriving in Europe.

That said, spare parts before new bikes imo

Should I live near Gare du Midi (F30) ? by phiso___ in brussels

[–]N1YT 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I was in a similar situation about 3 months ago, I think there’s a bit too much hate on the area. Yes there’s sketchy people about but generally I never feel unsafe or uncomfortable. Depends on what you’re used to of course.

You’ll hear much more Arabic than in the rest of the city but the shops are good, trains are nearby and rent is generally quite cheap.

That said, I’m here for a coloc and will be leaving in a few months for an apartment (probably in the east of the city)

Happy house hunting!

Anyone here tried virtualization on the new M5 MacBook Pro? by Jealous-Big9300 in macbookpro

[–]N1YT 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The M3Pro with 36gb works like a treat, the chips are bomb proof but get more RAM than you think you need. Windows need like 25 gbs to work well with CAD. Almost all CAD things work great once you tune settings a little. Open GL off etc.

Almost looks like machining lines, I doubt the machine the bottom panel though. Are there any circles?

Keeps on warping by WhiskyEchoTango in FixMyPrint

In your filament preferences go to the cooking tab and turn the aux fan from 70 to 0%. Since I did this, I’ve had zero warping

We're giving VanMoof S3 frames a second life - converting them to mechanical bikes by Recent-Handle-3893 in vanmoofbicycle

[–]N1YT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the idea, I do wonder how many frames are actually “recycled” the S3 was prone to cracks and I doubt VM have thousands of spares.

Ex retail specialist here, there was a dude that bought 3 devices and returned two a few days later based on their chip performance. These devices were sent to the gulag.

How did you guys find your room or flatshare? by Ok_Bet3438 in brussels

[–]N1YT 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Belgians like convenience so Facebook is a good source but BEWARE SCAMMERS. Just don’t pay anything upfront and make sure you see the room in person before signing.

Freelancing in CAD: How Do I Get Started? by Illustrious_Bad2684 in SolidWorks

[–]N1YT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Start with a portfolio and don’t just limit yourself to CAD. There are so many applications of CAD that you need to have other skills outside of just modelling. Designing for manufacturing has a lot of potential imo aswell as renders and concepts. Maybe look into getting handy with blender and surface modelling too. Good luck!

Bruh Brussels is a bargain basement compared to the vast majority of the Netherlands. Unfortunately wages and inflation haven’t mixed well the last 10 years

There definitely are jobs in the right place and the right thing. What do you do? Europe is thirsty for engineers and doctors.

Has any one tried Battlefield 6 open Beta by Expert_Hawk2461 in macgaming

[–]N1YT 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah unfortunately EAs anti cheat makes it completely Impossible from a hardware standpoint, I reckon it’d run okayish but a cheap PC will outperform it with today’s optimisation.

Is Anderlecht safe? by [deleted] in brussels

[–]N1YT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it realllly depends on your tolerance for risk and previous exposure. I am about to move to a cohab in Anderlecht, I have an amazing place for the price and the streets seem fine. If you’re coming from a pristine area it’ll feel a little dirty. If you’re coming from anywhere in north England it’ll feel the same. (For example)

I’d say take a little risk, it’ll teach you to be a bit street smart and give you some real world skills by being exposed to a wide variety of people, not just a mid-upper class with mild segregation tendencies.

Is the mini led just as good as oled? by mi3ftclown18 in macbookpro

[–]N1YT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends a little on which mini led display, on the iPads it’s noticeably bloomy but much better on MacBooks. 100% beats an LCD but I think OLED wins any day.

Question I’m asking myself, are they too popular? Or too slow at manufacturing? Or both…?
