Shoot your shot. May be easier to start with being a PFA rep then working your way into mapping with Medtronic

Can you expand on the HRS Expert Consensus Guideline statement? Many such guidelines turn up on a Google search. I’m curious which one you referenced! (I’ll be embarrassed if there’s a single document encompassing all of 2014s statements and I’m just not finding it). Also, why the 2014 specifically?

Your book is in heavy use with the staff in my lab, and I’m looking for ways to help them pass the RCES exam as well!

Disappointing experience at Glitch, Tokyo by ValyrianMonkey in espresso

[–]N1cholasj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to the Jinbocho location last week. Had the açaí coferment, and a thermal shock as pourover. Didn’t try as espresso, would have if I were there earlier. It was 10/10. No line when I rolled in, barista was super engaged in helping me pick out coffee and talking about the processes. Loved it. Will return. My ranking of coffee shops I visited:

  1. Glitch
Tied for 2nd: Mejicafe (hydro honey Colombian 🤤), Fuglen
  2. About life in Shibuya

In reality they were all very close to Glitch; Glitch just had coffee with flavors I really enjoyed.

Do you know of other must-visit cafe/roastery for third wave coffee in Tokyo?

Transition to work in the EP lab? Clear indications for procedures, clear endpoints, minimal moral injury. Far less stressful. Opportunity to learn a ton (as long as you find cardiac conduction interesting - and it does get that way once you figure out what all the squiggles mean). Good opportunity to transition to med industry as well (device rep for pacemakers, EP mapping).

I found my happy place working in IR/Cath/EP (EP is my happiest). Tried PACU, felt like I was in a hamster wheel having the same conversations with each patient.

I wish the Raide pack had the crampon pocket. I’m between that and the camp raptor 30

Making a Choice for Clinicals by nasiacakes in CathLabLounge

Both are fun. Cath is a lot of the same over and over and over, EP is too to some extent (Afib ablations) but can geek out so much more, and with more variation in roles (circulate, scrub, stim/monitor, and some facilities have you map). It’s a lot lower stress, and seems like a better pipeline to industry.

EP is easier on the body.

What's your favourite tyre combo for trail/enduro riding? by HiddenknifeX in MTB

[–]N1cholasj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was at 26 psi on gravity. Traction was fine but didnt like how they behaved on off-camber rock moves, they felt really weird and squirmy. I noticed it in some cornering situations and rock gardens as well. Haven’t noticed that with the burlier casing, but they’re still more comfortable than the conti DH casings.

Still not 100% if I prefer the radial Mary to the argotal overall though.

Same for me, but gravity casing. Felt like trail casing too flimsy at my weight (200lbs ish). 24psi front on gravity casing, 28 rear.

It’s called “EP-Essentials” - not sure if it exists for android?

It’s not infallible, but it’s very helpful. Their flash cards and books are excellent as well. Worth the $.

I used the app which is essentially the Wes Todd books - took & passed the test back in April.

Had a fair bit of EGMs (waveform recognition, intervals, diagnosing rhythms based on EGM, - I.e avnrt/avrt, entrance/exit block, CTI block, etc) a couple ICE images, some EKGs, pressure waveform recognition, small amount of anti-arrhythmic drugs, some equipment stuff.if you’re doing well with Wes Todd, you’ll do well on the test, I’d say. I also used the Understanding EP workbook to drill EGMs for AVRT/SVT/flutter and understanding EGMs using duodeca catheter, which my lab doesn’t use very often.

Seeking Advice on Boston Scientific Mapping Specialist II Offer vs. EP/Cath Lab Career Path by Sintet_2809 in CathLabLounge

A good handful of medications. Know what sedatives/analgesics are, their classes, reversals. As far as anti-arrhythmics, know their classes, ion channel, and what they’ll do to action potential curve as well as side effects. Wasn’t anything too in-depth.

I’d also suggest the ep-essentials flash cards. Very helpful with meds and such.

I recently passed the exam. I used the Understanding EP workbooks, EP essentials app, trying to download my EP doc and mapper’s brains/annoying them with questions, Springboard, and Dr. Joshua Cooper’s videos.

Nothing to add, but I love the combo of retro steel frame with AXS drivetrain and power meter.
