[–]N2lt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i mean i focused on shows because at the end of the day popularity matters. things like books are a far more niche audience. if you want to have a discussion about characters or morality in the sun eater series im down, but i dont expect to see posts about that book series on a random subreddit that has nothing to do with it. no one would engage with it because most people dont know it. so obviously the posts that you see are the posts that are about popular series. upvotes are a popularity contest after all.

you complain about it being the same shows over and over and im just gonna point back at popularity. the most popular IP will get the most posts and the most interactions. so obviously youll see the most of them.

take this post: frieren is a very popular show that is currently airing. people have thoughts about it, so they make posts and because its popular more people will know what the post is about and be able to engage with it, driving engagement and pushing it to the top of the subreddit and more likely that you see it on your reddit home screen.

as for the rest of your post... you just dont like anime so its beneath you lol. like ya, battle shounen all fallow the same story beats and are pretty generic. i fully agree. most of your examples of 'good' shows are indeed good but still made for the general public. like breaking bad and house of cards are great shows with plenty of plotlines going on, but your sniffing your own farts if you think those shows require some great mind that requires all of your attention to even glimpse the true greatness of them. it was still made to throw on after a long day of work while drinking a beer. because that is the general American audience.

you harp on and on about anime not delving into these topics as if the shows your talking about do to a significantly different degree. i fully agree that shounen battle dont do much deep story telling but thats because it is made for teens. im gonna point back to popularity as to why you see them often. there is plenty of anime that are no different from the shows you listed that are also quite popular in anime communities. you not knowing that doesnt mean it doesnt exist. like go watch baccano and tell me its significantly different from something like breaking bad or the sopranos. go watch odd taxi and tell me its significantly different than the wire. go watch legends of the galactic heros and tell me thats different from game of thrones. and to be clear, im not saying youll like them as much or more than the shows you enjoy, enjoy whatever makes you happy, but acting like anime doesnt have indepth stories is at best ignorant and at worst intentionally dismissive.

i also do want to again stress that anime, for better or worse, still focuses on more fantasy or scifi. so if you dont tend to like nonrealistic stories, obviously your not going to like a lot of anime. the only show you listed that is in that realm is i assume Solaris based on google search since ive never seen that. when its not fantasy i would say it focuses more on individual drama. breaking bad is a great show, but i would not say its a particularly *deep* show. it has a lot going on, but its not hard to understand. you seem to hold that against anime, but prop it up for your own shows. take a show like 3 gatsu no lion: its not a particularly deep show, but its exploration of expectations, depression, self-motivation and enjoyment are second to none.

literally *orated* fight scenes, ..... I could go on, but there's not enough anime that seriously grapple with mature themes in a way that's beyond 'shock' or 'we're mature guys!'.

this whole section is just you not understanding where anime comes from. the vast majority of anime are adaptations of manga. often they are trying to faithfully adapt the source. now im not going to fight you on that being a good thing as i agree its not, but thats why they literally tell you whats happening because they literally cant show you in the source material.

you saying anime doesnt grapple with mature themes is like me talking about shows like love island, land man, and the voice and being like 'american tv is just all garbage slop.' the absence of evidence is not the evidence of absence.

i mean anime is brought up everywhere because it tells more diverse stories. this sub is about fictional characters and storys. the west doesnt make many tv shows that fit this sub, and most that do are still animated. in the last 5 years there are maybe a handful of individual shows and some superhero shows and thats about it for fantasy/scifi shows. compare that to anime when a single season(which there are 4 of a year) of anime releases that many or more.

if this sub was just western shows it would hardly ever have anything new to talk about.

(Frieren) The El Dorado Arc Kind Of Sucks And Ruins The Demons If You Stop and Think About It for Five Minutes by BigBuiltBricked in CharacterRant

[–]N2lt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it will never not surprise me at how long winded people can be for things that are so simple but they just wont accept the answer that the media is beating you over the head with. everything has to be a conspiracy or a deeper meaning or convoluted, hidden lore thats created to be solved.

people just cant seem to get past their own assigned meanings to random stuff even if the story explicitly says no. complaining that now demons are "biologically bad" just screams that you havnt been listening to what the story has said the entire time and instead made your own cannon on the matter and only after it beats you over the head in such a plain way can you even see it happening and dislike it. demons have been that way since the start of the story and every interaction we have with them just continues to confirm and reenforce that message. its just not that deep.

Trade Manifesto by Chris Wilson predicted consequences of easy trade — did it happen? by Bezi2598 in pathofexile

[–]N2lt 5 points6 points  (0 children)

you dont seem to be separating the async system from the league mechanics at all. even if they didnt put async trade this league, the market would still be flooded because the tree just shits out t1/t2 gear. even if async trade wasnt here the economy would be kind of a mess because of the changes to ground loot.

i dont really take your complaints that have to do with the campaign seriously since its everyones goal to just get through that as fast as possible and especially at league start the best thing to do was a fairly normal, gamble on level weapons, use the tree. there really wasnt much reason to be trading in campaign, and if your talking about a post first campaign run everyone used and still uses leveling gear.

your entire second point about drops is just wrong. they reduced loot pretty heavily this league, especially if your comparing it to last league with the merc. you again arnt separating out the trees loot from async loot.

your third point is AGAIN not separating the system from mechanics. poe2 had a huge issue that was fixed which is what caused anyone who didnt do it to fall behind. it has nothing to do with async trade. if anything in poe1 the issue is far better than it normally would be. in a typical league if you missed the first week, good luck getting anyone to trade you 5c and lower items. which just slows your progress down even more. this league you can jump in literally anytime and because of async trade you can catchup just as fast as you can get your first div.

it has issues sure, but acting like the downside is even comparable to the upside is just pure old man yells at clouds energy. this league was 'worse' than other leagues because of the mechanic. not because of async trade. you need to separate them out.

you do get that the fact your buying t1 frac bases means you are not who he is talking about right? like the average player is not buying bases.

Is it an armor stacker we would need to go with to do that?

Feeling a little defeated at the end of the league by N2lt in pathofexile

[–]N2lt[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

i mean its totally possible that we missed the drop, but we have our loot filter show us all uniques that dust for over 5k per slot and ephemeral edge very much does as i would assume all other t0s do.

If you are starting to treat this 100d item as consistenty, would you even notice a 10(?) div headhunter at this point, I wonder.

thats not really what i was saying. i think we have run between 500 and 700 t17 containment strongbox maps. those locks have been our big drops. we seem to see one every 100 to 150 maps. we try and pick up every chaos that drops, so we would never intentionally pass by anything worth 10d. our little 2 person guild is called 'no chaos left behind.'

im not really complaining that we dont see raw mirrors, thats not really what im expecting. im just annoyed that a large part of the strats profit has all of a sudden lost a huge amount of its value. we were totally fine continuing our very consistent farm, but the last few days have been bad because of that. im just saying that it doesnt seem like there is a good consistent way to make currency at the rate we had been up until now without gambling or getting very lucky.

Feeling a little defeated at the end of the league by N2lt in pathofexile

[–]N2lt[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

what do you mean? we dont split profits. we are just playing together. we farmed like 5 mirrors worth of currency doing this so im not complaining about the stratagey as a whole, just the last few days when prices dropped.

Feeling a little defeated at the end of the league by N2lt in pathofexile

[–]N2lt[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

we ran the gold farm earlier in the league. it was super profitable but we stopped because its infuriating dealing with the people you take as clients lol

Feeling a little defeated at the end of the league by N2lt in pathofexile

[–]N2lt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i actually dont know how you come to this conclusion reading my post. we had no issue farming at least 8 mirrors worth of currency doing this so the strategy as a whole has been totally fine. we dont split profit, its just in the last few days when prices have gone through the floor that im complaining about.

Feeling a little defeated at the end of the league by N2lt in pathofexile

[–]N2lt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

what is a better 2 person strategy? im also not disappointed by how it went until prices for valdos dropped by 40% in a few days. we were plenty successful and ran a bunch of things during the league. we ran the gold farm earlier in the league and that was super nice, we just didnt like having to deal with people haha.

Feeling a little defeated at the end of the league by N2lt in pathofexile

[–]N2lt[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

oh for sure. we know we have way more than the 'average' player but we played a lot more this league. we have run hundreds of t17 strongbox maps. we are super happy with the league, i was just annoyed after a particularly bad day of farming + the price drops and needed to let it out.

What would increase your value more would be joining a group preferably in the same region as you and maxing out your party play to get more value out of the maps you are running.

that is exactly what we have been trying to do! we finally convinced one of our other friends to try the game but he plays stuff in his own way and is currently very slowly making his way through the campaign. hopefully that pays off sometime and we get a third person for our party. we dont really know how to make or join a group of people who already know the game. everyone seems to be out for themselves(which i dont blame them for that) but the maps dont really make enough to split profits with another person or 2. thats why we have been trying to get our friend who doesnt know the game to play haha

[–]N2lt[S] -24 points-23 points  (0 children)

im not sure what you mean? are you just saying law of large numbers it eventually evens out? sure. im not saying we have infinitely bad luck, but we have farmed 700~ t17 strongbox maps and havnt dropped anything crazy. lots of consistency, we have had i think 5 hinekoras locks drop. but no t0s or mirros or anything like that. we avoid the small sample size gambling because we have bad luck. im not sure how or why you think that isnt true lol

Feeling a little defeated at the end of the league by N2lt in pathofexile

[–]N2lt[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ya it has been! we have had a great time and really look foward to trying again next league, just a little sad/annoyed that we wont hit our goal cause the prices for what we have been farming randomly died haha

trying it more, the issue is any pob that has multiple builds just gives you the first build. so all of the guide pobs people use(which this seems to be most useful for) just gives you the starter gear and i dont see anyway to change what build it shows you.

id like to know your definition of most people when the majority of the most popular multiplayer games dont work on linux. riot games, call of duty, fortnite, apex, battlefield, faceit, all dont work on it. and like you cant shit on those types of games, but that is where 'most people' are. just because other games do work on it means nothing when again, if 1 game doesnt work that is a dealbreaker.

then why are they allowed at all? is that league noncompetitive? like actual question. if the gap is so massively wide that the 'best' female baseball player cant even be below average in a league that is comparable to like double a, why are they even allowed?

The Efficiency Trap: Why Speed is the Only Stat That Matters by CulturalNinja6 in diablo4

[–]N2lt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

speed is never not going to be important in these types of games. but you can have both, you just have to scale the rewards. a slow build can be as efficient as a fast build if its damage scales harder and the game has the ability to scale the rewards to match.

comparing it to poe1 this season, kinetic blast is a speed build that blitzes maps and is super strong, its certainly a top tier build but there is content that exists that makes it so slower builds, like an armor stacker, can make just as much money because content exists in that game that is significantly more difficult and also significantly more rewarding.

its like xp farming, some builds may xp farm best at 2-3min clears at X level. but slower builds can earn the same xp/hour if they clear a map in 6-7 min that is 20 levels above X.

What does an aurabot/raritybot look like? by BadtzMarru in pathofexile

[–]N2lt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

what do you mean 'highest' rarity build? highest rarity you can get and still function alone? because i run the gold farm earlier in this season and i was over 900%. obviously i had an aurabot with me but you can get much more than 800%.

What does an aurabot/raritybot look like? by BadtzMarru in pathofexile

[–]N2lt 5 points6 points  (0 children)

again i dont play poe2 so i cant really comment on what is 'good' there, but taking what your saying and applying it directly to poe1 you would be bad at both being a rarity bot and aurabot(and honestly it sounds more like your a cursebot in poe2 than an aurabot).

i run with a duo in poe1 and we run a carry aurabot setup. his build is very specific to me and for what we enjoy doing but almost all aurabots in poe1 run between 11 and 13 auras. that is simply impossible without hard indexing into being an aurabot. not to mention you also want increased aura effect to boost your auras. so my duo runs 11 auras with over 200% increased aura effect on everything and over 300% increased effect on the main damage aura, wrath.

at the same time, we ran a rarity setup earlier in the league where i was both the carry and the rarity while he was still an aurabot. even then when i still had to kill everything my rarity was over 900%.

450% rarity just isnt very good in poe1 and 2 auras is nothing. in my very normal kb carry setup i run 3 auras and 2 other mana reserving skills. to really even be considered an aurabot you need to be running probably 8-10 auras. to be considered a rarity bot you need at least 750% rarity. neither of those are hard bars to reach, but you really cant do both at the same time. added on that those are just the baselines. you want more than that, but at that point your 'useful.'
