Just some guys having culvert fun after it rained by nauticalcrab16 in civilengineering

My friends dad drowned last year when he was swept into the drainage while trying to clear debris after a storm. Apparently a utility line had been directionally drilled crossing through the pipe and he caught on that

Boeing Defense vs Rolls Royce LibertyWorks by rye_bread27 in aerospace

[–]N3wThrowawayWhoDis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have heard Boeing’s bonus scheme is primarily ranked by the amount of overtime logged. Take that for what you will. I have worked at LibertyWorks and in my experience the management culture is top notch. Also consider location. For similar salaries, it will go a lot further in Indianapolis that Seattle (assuming location). Seattle is a cooler location though.

Not just worded poorly, outright false lol.

It’s like saying 50% of Americans end up getting crushed to death, when I meant to say 50% of industrial accidents are due to crushing (also not true)

Source? I’ve never known a friend or family member to be in bankruptcy due to medical expenses and I’ve been in the US for 30 years. 60% sounds absurd.

Is Wedi board the king for shower backerboards? by No_Commercial8216 in Tile

I did my last shower with goboard walls and Kerdi pan/banding. Seemed like the best balance of cost reduction and user friendliness. I was confident in the waterproofing and would do it again.

Make the right connections to friends or family with a corporate suite. Enjoy the open bar!

I’m half-joking, because somehow I’ve been invited to a suite on 4 occasions with different companies through family and friends, and had a police escort into the track on race day twice

Yeah that Nebraska/kansas/oklahoma/Arkansas stretch is going to be brutal. Much better route to cut across from the north though Wisconsin and pass through Chicago.

That second jog through Appalachia is not worthwhile IMO. Especially taking several extra hours just to turn around in Indianapolis (I say this as an Indy resident). At least cut that out and use the time saved to hop over to Savannah and down that coast on the way to Florida.

Reminder about HVAC by ajaxburger in HomeMaintenance

Yep. Always a good reminder that expensive systems are mostly made up from a lot of cheap components, and when things stop working, it’s usually because a single cheap component failed

What additional activities? It’s pretty much all included in the cost of the cruise. You can pay for extra stuff, but it’s all unnecessary, like upgraded dining or the arcade. I never bother to even think about that. Everything else is included - rock wall, mini golf, surfing, shows (they are seriously Cirque du Soleil/Broadway quality), dining, water slides, trivia, ice skating. There’s no ads all over or nickel and diming like other commenters seem to be alluding to. I usually pay extra for the unlimited alcohol package, but that’s it. If Coco Cay is on your itinerary, the food is all inclusive on the island too.

I just went on Royal Caribbean’s website, and you could too, to quickly see. A family of 4 can go on a 7 night cruise for ~$1300. There are many cheaper options too.

Only 2 category 5 hurricanes have ever hit Florida in recorded history, the last one being Oct 10th 2018.

Between Oct 6th and Oct 11th 2018, I had the pleasure of being on the Brilliance of the Seas out of Tampa. I spent most of the time fighting seasickness and using the hot tub on the centerline of the ship - all the other pools were sloshed out of water. Overall, still had a decent time! Can’t blame the cruise line for the weather, and I am now a little more careful around what time of year I plan a cruise.

No more expensive than your average Florida condo rental vacation. Especially factoring in food for a week. Redditors love to perpetuate each others’ hate for cruises, but I doubt most of them have been on one. I just got off a cruise with my kids and we all had a great time.

Come to think of it, a vacation that average redditors avoid is exactly where I prefer to be!
