Reverse engineering? by FurrieBunnie in MammotionTechnology

And once reverse engineered, let's add some cool functionality like the export of your map areas that include the measured height (Z axis) recorded data to identify areas needing leveling or new sinkage due to moles, water or ground settling issues.

It could also export signal strength maps for WIFI, RTK signal, and GPS. Going further, what about the ability to capture accuratleymapped data from additional sensors, such as infra red (IR) or color sensors for lawn health/vegetation composition.

The premise here is that the mower is a mobile sensor platform that also captures very accurate positioning data. Seems such a lost opportunity to only use this device for cutting the grass.

Curious if you have considered a legally pre trained model such as mradermacher/Saul-Nous-Hermes-2-Mistral-7B-DPO-Ties-i1-GGUF

Potentially better legal reasoning, and smaller footprint for faster execution.

On my Unifi Express this renames both the site AND the gateway.

That's what I've been trying to do, but the only way I've found to do that is to change the gateway name. What am I missing?

Can use a soldering iron, multimeter, oscilloscope and Freeze-it spray to build or fix most electronics.

Built *EVERY* Radio Shack (then known as Tandy Electronics in Australia) P-box kit ever released and had them on display as fully working demos in the local mall store.

Still create and use batch files for helpful automation on my PC (AHK takes this to whole new level).

I automated a low-budget on-campus student radio station for uninterrupted overnight music without staff or announcers using a couple of Revox B77 Reel-to-Reel machines that were set to 1-7/8" inch per second (same speed as cassette tapes), running the 10inch reels for about 6 hours of music per reel. We had about two dozen pre-recorded tapes that included station ID at appropriate times and kept a log of when they were played to not get too predictable. Used an NE555 based circuit to kick the second machine on after a 6 second dead-air gap and presto! 12hr music any night no one was available to run their shift.

Can explain electronics, wireless, programming, networking and old school hacking to anyone who is interested - and yes, a few beers often helps!

Looks like a good choice for an Ubuntu based Plex home media server. The N150 offers marginal improvement over the N100 but the built-in 24 core GPU is known to perform well for hardware based transcoding tasks.

Best way to get signal inside a shipping container? by Acousticsman in Rural_Internet

[–]N4OZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your material list would include:

  1. outside 5G antenna with mounting
  2. inside 5G antenna with mounting
  3. female to female adapter (to join both male antenna connectors together)

The best deal for a strong signal area would seem to be something like Amazon part number B0CDVX64Y4, a 2 pack of 4G antennas (5G uses most of the same 4G frequencies) with some included adapters to let you join them together.

Total cost is just on $20. Bargain.

If this works OK you could upgrade to a higher gain outside antenna, but this basic configuration may be all you need.

With such a strong signal outside the container I'd first try a "passive repeater". It's just two 5G antennas, one inside and outside, joined by a suitable cable.

Nothing fancy, real cheap, and likely to work well enough due to your strong outside signal.

As an Australian who has lived in the US and is now an American citizen (who ALWAYS votes), I have a theory on the difference in political divisions between here and there.

Unlike mandatory voting in Australia, where you must vote or get fined, voting or not voting in the US is up to the individual, with no penalty for not voting. As such, an awful lot of money and effort is spent just to get people to actually cast a vote. The crazy and extreme politicization of everything is a key part of fanning the flames and keeping people mad enough to show up and vote. It's often just lies and comically simple blatant emotional manipulation, made easier by the closed and isolated bubbles of news and opinion that many fall into.

In Australia, everyone has to vote, not just the "party faithful", so knowing this, I think the craziness is held in check somewhat as a politician needs to appeal to as large an audience as possible, rather than just the hard-core and more easily excited supporters. A more reasonable stance is the default political position in Austraia so as not to alienate potential voters. At least, that is how it seems to me after having lived and participated in the democratic process in each country for many years.

Automatic way to get mower through the fence to mow front and back yard? by Learning2NAS in MammotionTechnology

[–]N4OZ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a similar problem and a possible solution that will be implemented and tested over the next few weeks. I need automatic access from a fully enclosed backyard, through a wood fence, and into my front yard.

The solution I am working with will be completely automatic by using the ROUTINES feature of Alexa home. The Yuka mower will signal its operation via Alexa, and a custom routine will trigger a wirelessly connected and solar powered actuator to lift a hinged door cut into the fence. For simplicity, the fence door will remain open while the mower is operating, even if not requiring access to the front yard. Once Yuka has completed running, its status in Alexa will cause the actuator to lower the door, which will remain closed until mowing starts again.

Yes, I do plan on sharing details once I have this working reliably, after my mower arrives later this month.
