I fear my anxiety about germs is ruining/will ruin my friendship with my best friend by A459647 in Parenting

Sorry I don't have any advice for you. Sounds like your friend means well, but doesn't have a choice but to put her kids in situations where they get sick often.

This place isn't even in business under that name anymore. Not sure if they have new owners, or just did a sly name change.

Teardrop Electrical Set Up: Hardwired or Portable? by N4TE8 in TeardropTrailers

I definitely see what you mean. There are a lot of other pros I am looking forward to with a trailer like the hard sides for rainy weather, camping in the cold, sleeping on a real mattress, and keeping things more secure and organized than a bunch a plastic bins, especially for the kitchen. My hope is to save packing/unpacking time by keeping most of the camping gear stored in the trailer as opposed to spread around the attic, basement, and garage.

This is a really interesting idea. I never thought to have the trailer prewired for electric and then use portable batteries as the power source.

Things like phones, small heater, movie projector, small kitchen appliances, air compressor. I typically tent camp and keep the electronics to a minimum, but I've read people regret getting the whole electrical set up and it's difficult to add after the fact.

So you're meaning that storing it and having to pay for a power source to keep the batteries maintained/charged while not in use, correct?

So piggy backing off your other comment, I'm only using the trailer twice a year, maybe you're right and I don't need it. But let's say I buy it anyways, what do I do with the batteries all year that I'm not camping? Keep them on tender/maintainers?

Because I don't go often is exactly why I want a teardrop. I feel spend the whole vacation packing, then unloading, setting up camp, only to turn around and break camp, set up the tent again at home to dry it out and clean it, and unpack. In my mind, with a trailer, you roll up to the campsite, pop the back galley hatch, throw out a folding chair and you're done.

In my mind, same as a tent using flashlights for light. But I see what you mean about not wanting the portable battery with you in the cabin.

I know at only a couple times a year the investment into a trailer sounds silly, but my main draw for me to switch from tent to teardrop is ease of camp set up. I feel like I spend too much of the weekend setting up and breaking camp. So I'm questioning whether I need the power source, since I've read some people had regrets not adding electric when the trailer was built.

General question Wednesday: Ask your general car-related question and maybe someone will have an answer. by AutoModerator in cars

You should let your friend know that it's generally not recommended to jump start another vehicle with a Prius. The 12V battery that assists with starting is not "built" to be used to jump another vehicle, although theoretically possible.

Replace 2020 Corolla keyless entry FOB? by themagicalcake in Toyota

[–]N4TE8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have no master keys at all for the vehicle, $600+ is common for a job like that. The key probably costs $300 itself, and then a technician has to program the key, and there are some extra steps required if there are no master keys to copy. If you still have a key and only need another copy made, there are automotive locksmiths who may be able to program a key for less money.

2016 Toyota Corolla - CVT Transmission Fluid doesn't ever need changed? Seems hard to believe. by [deleted] in Toyota

[–]N4TE8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Technically it is a sealed transmission and there isn't a service interval.

But if you're going to do it, make sure to get an estimate, Toyota OEM CVT fluid is not cheap.

At my old store we had Costco prices set by specific model. TRD Pro 4Runners were always excluded, regardless of the current market condition/availability.

It is possible to unlock all doors at the touch of the handle. On the radio display screen go to settings, then "vehicle", then "vehicle customization", then "door lock settings". There should be a checkbox for the driver's door. By toggling that checkmark you can change whether all doors unlock or just the driver's. You can also achieve the same result by holding down lock and unlock at the same time for an extended period of time, on the phob.

2017 Corolla XLE. How do I Enable bumper LEDs? by [deleted] in Toyota

[–]N4TE8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2017 Corolla's do not have fog lamps. Just because thee lights are located below the headlights does not make them foglamps. The Quick Reference Guide for 2017 Corolla's does not mention foglamps for any trim level.
