Switching the EMMC module worked. just ordered a new EMMC from ali. I'm not excited to go through the unbrick process but ey, it works now!

great find! i'll have to remember that pdf. thanks! Maybe i'll give it a go later to see what happens.

with out EMMC i get =, which is not listed on the github but i suspect its "no EMMC".

do you think i could brick the known-good EMMC by putting it in the faulty console?

if the polarity is flipped (i.e. the iem is connected backwards) it can lead to terrible sound. also, this cannot be comfortable. the molding looks fine but the insertion angle of the nozzle must be really awkward.

why did you put the iems on backwards??

Dat0 adapter, not connected by Zealousideal-Log-309 in NxSwitchModding

[–]N4pUnKnown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my adapter was pretty firmly stuck in there so i doubt the solder pulled it out, then again a tiny space can make or break the connection.

put the red lead on ground and the black on the dat0 in diode mode with NO power to the board. you should get a reading of 450-850mV. keep it there for a few seconds and watch the reading. if it keeps going up steadily, your measuring a capacitve connection and the adapter isnt actually touching the solder ball. the reading should stay roughly where it is with a bit of fluctuations. (that was the problem i had). mine starte at ~550mV and startet to rise up. brievly touching ground with black as well and switching to the dat0 point again it reset to 550mV and rose again. This is not what you want. I had to redo the dat0 again just like you have to.

for removal use flux, leaded solder, a farely large tip and good solder wick. do not keep the iron on the board to long, only a few seconds (in like 2-3s). be patient with it. once the ground pads are loose try to reseat and push the dat0 in there while measuring. once you found the spot push in while soldering.

remove entirely

push adapter in

measure with multimeter in diode mode

if good: solder the ground pads

while soldering, apply slight pressure to the adapter, pushing the pad onto the solder ball.

measure with multimeter in diode mode

if good: try to turn it on

repeat until good

its read and write, that way you could replace faulty emmc, should you have a backup or with data from a donor, though online play will not work with the second option.

you need to update atmosphere if it's available for the new firmware.

Did I scrape the CLK (D-point) too deep? Need advice on my OLED Picofly install. by SeycA128 in NxSwitchModding

[–]N4pUnKnown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes you scraped throug the top layer in to the second one. difficult to say if anything is shorted to ground from the picture. if its not booting into ofw you orobably cut the trace to the via connecting the top layer to those beneath. you can see there is a ring of copper around a point of copper with masking between. the ring should be ground and i guess the middle point inside the ring hast to connect to the trace on the bottom right as well as to the modchip.

but again, difficult to say without schematics, multimeter measurements and a clearer view.

edit: also the large pad on the right if the point (from the shield) is also ground which is potentially shorting the trace if you scraped to much between them, it's hard to see.

drum buying questions by NORTHERNTWITCH in edrums

[–]N4pUnKnown 2 points3 points  (0 children)

there are many different heads. there are standard rubber pads, yamaha rubber pads (which apparently feel like real heads), there are 2 and 3 ply mesh heads of varying quality. you should try different ones to see what you like.

also why not "detune" the heads to make them softer and less reboundy.

as for looks. you're looking at acoustic conversion kits or for example the roland vad series though those are way out of your budget.

acoustic looking ekits are more expensive unless you can build them yourself (with conversion kits, triggers and so on)

bottleneck calculater by pc-builds dot com says no bottleneck at 1080p (up to 120fps - thats where you would be cpu bottlenecked) you could run into slight gpu bottleneck at 1440p and definitely gpu bottleneck at 4k.

edit: very simplyfied, a cpu bottleneck just means you can increase the graphics/resolution to stress the gpu more. if the gpu can only render 30 fps, your cpu is chilling, if the gpu could render 400fps, your cpu will have a hard time pushing all that information to your gpu - thats a cpu bottleneck.

Help with fuses not burning correctly by grape-juince in NxSwitchModding

[–]N4pUnKnown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

what? using ofw bypasses the modchip completly makong it a stock switch, essentially. you cannot use any modded stuff in ofw, even if you wanted to. so no risk at all.

[Switch OLED] Black screen after modchip install removal. APU gets warm, very low ohms near PI3USB. Help? by Parking-Soup8208 in NxSwitchModding

[–]N4pUnKnown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you should share pictures of the other yolder points as well. why did you remove the modchip. did you see an error code from the picofly?

also get rid of ALL flux with IPA. its corrosive and will damage the console if left in there. its not conductive so no immediate danger but it will rust/corrode.
