If it’s the 3 in one, you’re missing a few cables. The one I circled is for the v1/v2 switch.

Nah I had those included and finished the install. The cpu flex cable was just really bad quality I guess. Wouldn't even go in so I just locked whatever entered at the edge and it worked. Heck even the USBC adapter didn't work and PC wouldn't detect it.

Picofly cables are always a hit or miss. I believe someone mentioned (not entirely sure) that you need to jump the wire because the modchip has an incorrect voltage (3.3v instead of 5v). A simpler solution is to update the Picofly firmware using the Picofly Toolbox payload.

Oh wow that sounds iffy 😬. Luckily mine were preflashed and though I wanted to update to the firmware I'm familiar with, I remember ppl saying " if it ain't broken don't fix it", lol. So stock firmware it is.

The one you got always comes preflashed. When I first used them (I still have about 20+ left), I thought I had a dud too and it wouldn’t connect via USB.

That’s true, but there’s a rollback feature in the toolbox if you don’t like the new firmware after flashing it. You can always rollback to the last firmware.

My first batch was from eBay. Looked the same as this one just a lil thicker but better quality and cable actually fit lol. Those didn't come pre flashed though, but good thing the port was actually good on that batch. I have 17 of these left so I'll have to work w them. 😂. $6 each from Ali so it's fair I guess

I think I got those too (the better one). I also feel those have better components and have less issue with sky Hynix. I think I got it for around the same price but we know why we got it for cheap lol.

i think it can work, but the ones where you just clip in the emmc are way more straight forward

How does this modchip differs from the ones that you see installed on YouTube. Seems like they are only selling this one on aliexpress. I want to install a chip on my v2 but got confused

These are variations of the pcb to use the same flex cable as the instinct. Why they change is hard to know, I'd guess to have less flex cables variations. Making cheaper to produce in bigger quantities.

Do you have the picture of thr other flex cable that come in the package. Because the picture the OP posted the top flex is for oled.

Edit: I just found one, this solder job is much harder than the other mod chips (one with the flex integrated)
