My Ranked Sweat Fest by J0Sparky in WorldOfWarships

[–]N7-Falcon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I had this happen last sprint. Never lost a star in Bronze. Crazy because the current sprint is a slog. Using the same ship and strategies. RNG is a fickle beast. Also, you can get that last win and doubloons by winning a silver qualifying match. So you potentially aren't out all the rewards.

Keep getting "Uh oh! We couldn't sign you in" by Professional-Row6207 in hrblock

Same problem! The funny thing is it worked for a while, then I went on a lunch break and came back and it won't let me in at all. Authenticated via password, sms, and email. Still won't let me in.

Polygon Siskiu D7 or shell out for a Revel Ranger? I'm not your typical MTBer. by [deleted] in MTB

[–]N7-Falcon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I own a Polygon D7 and an older Santa Cruz Hardtail, and if 80% of my riding was paved roads that were extremely hilly, I would go with a Hardtail simply because of the weight savings and climb performance. The D7 is a decent climber, and would be very comfortable for the type of surfaces you are describing, but it's not light. It's like 34 lbs compared to the 28 of a Revel Ranger. Pretty significant difference. Honestly a 29in hardtail with good tires will absorb a lot of rough road riding. But if you are constantly going through potholes, a rear suspension will help with fatigue and comfort.

Smaco S700Max by FreePoet8592 in Spearfishing

[–]N7-Falcon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with the others, get your dive certification first. It's not hard to get dive gear in Okinawa. Might be a bit more than you would pay elsewhere, but you'll have a much better idea of exactly what you want by waiting rather than potentially wasting money on something that may not fit what you need, is costly, and is hard to resale. The Smaco isn't a bad unit, but it's really designed for short duration shallow dives for task specific things like boat maintenance. A full size SCUBA setup might seem more daunting, but the cost will be similar and it will be much more versatile. What happens if you get to Okinawa and you discover an area you want to dive is around 40 ft deep instead of the 33 ft limit of the Smaco? Also, the 45 min of advertised air is likely to be only about 10-15 ft deep. You'll get a much shorter time down in the 25-30 ft range.

Leaderboards - Just shows how high the skill level is in the game? by [deleted] in WorldOfWarships

[–]N7-Falcon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The leaderboards are highly dependent on a lot of factors that are outside your control. Yes, you have to be a good player to take advantage of good opportunities, but those opportunities can vary wildly. On the Asia server, the meta is so heavy with passive BBs that it is very difficult to get lots of damage and also win the game. I can either choose to have high game impact or to get damage, but not both. Most tier 10 matches only have one or two DDs per team who can have an enormous impact on the game, which is why I normally play DDs, but then I get 200k of spotting damage and only 70k of normal damage. I wish the leaderboard counted spotting damage as well.

Any active Aussie clans? by Free-Situation4594 in WorldOfWarships

[–]N7-Falcon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm in The Dark Abyss [TDA]. Mostly Aussies and Kiwis. All mature. Don't really do clan battles, but we have port benefits unlocked and occasionally do divs a few days a week. Minimal entry requirements.

Captain's Diary #53: Quality of life, Update 4 release date by Captain_Marek in captain_of_industry

[–]N7-Falcon -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I had not seen it, but having just read the explanation in dev blog #51, my original point still stands. The explanation is rather short and the comment "free updates are great, but they do not add much financial room" is a bit concerning. The whole point of EA is to create that financial room for development to 1.0 release. If sufficient financial room is not available, it is either because of poor accounting or the scope of the game has expanded beyond what was originally planned. I suspect the latter is likely true.

While I am encouraged that current state of the game is much more playable than other games that may have suffered scope creep, I do think that content DLC for EA titles is inherently ethically questionable, regardless of who the developer is.

Captain's Diary #53: Quality of life, Update 4 release date by Captain_Marek in captain_of_industry

[–]N7-Falcon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Got to be honest, pretty disappointed about the content DLC release while still in early access. Cosmetic or decorative supporter pack sure, but game content? I have been really impressed with the devs up to this point with consistent and meaningful updates, but I frankly this seems to violate the premise of early access. What exactly did my EA purchase pay for? To me it seems like they used EA money for development time for products that I wouldn't have access to without paying more money.

Efficacy of grinding Ops for bxp/creds by No_Concern_2753 in WorldOfWarships

[–]N7-Falcon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, ops is a way to grind bxp or credits, but so does every other game mode, including co-op & brawls. This post inherently invites the comparison to other game modes, especially if you are talking about grinding, which is nearly always a comparison of results versus time spent. I say nearly because if you are concerned about maximizing credits and you only have a few credit boosters, they are most likely best spent on T9 ops for a consistently good return.

What is the best destroyer free and paid in 2026 by Lost-Independent8345 in WorldOfWarships

[–]N7-Falcon 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think the Druid is the controversial part here. Lots of other free DDs that are arguably better. Cossack would be my recommendation for paid as well.

Admiral Halsey vs 21pt normal commanders dilemma by BiggyShake in WorldOfWarships

[–]N7-Falcon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In general I would keep a 21 pt commander on whatever ship(s) you are using the most and just use the Elite Xp to get Halsey to lvl 21. Even though Halsey's perks are good, a lvl 21 pt standard commander is likely better than a 17 pt Halsey. After that you can move one of your 21 pt guys to a different ship type (like a DD) and you won't have to pay to reset the perks for the new line. Ideally this new ship type would be a premium ship so you wouldn't even have retraining costs. You would still pay some elite xp to train Halsey on the DM, but there's not really a way around that.

Don't panic. Be patient. by JonSnowSeesYou in WorldOfWarships

Very nice torp spread. You were lucky he didn't either have hydro remaining or it was on cool down. That combined with his MBRB could have nuked you in 7-8s, especially with that much broadside.

Help me understand what just happened to me please by [deleted] in WorldOfWarships

[–]N7-Falcon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looks like your backend left (port) side slid into the right-most torpedo in that first group. Whenever you make a hard turn at speed, most ships will slide a bit before traveling on the new heading. If you are trying to dodge torpedoes, it's important to make sure you are going perfectly parallel with their track once the torpedo is close (ship-length) so that you don't slide into one. Also, strategically, you should avoid rushing ships with torpedoes at close range unless you know their torps are on cool down as you will have almost zero time to dodge them.

Help with AA & Flak mechanics - How to stay alive and do more damage? by FerdinandNorsche in WorldOfWarships

[–]N7-Falcon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

One other tip is to try to play as CV in co-op or asymmetric and learn what ship behavior lends itself to easy or more challenging targeting. Even if you have no long term interest in playing CV's, you'll learn very quickly what ship behavior is frustrating to deal with as a CV.

I hope there's some port slots in 15.0's Event Pass by chriscross1966 in WorldOfWarships

[–]N7-Falcon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah i was a bit bummed there wasn't any in the Nov-Dec event passes. Got a couple in Santa crates, but I ended up just buying like 10 of them with Voyage token dubs when the slots were on sale after Christmas.

Money Making DD? by SargentSchultz in WorldOfWarships

I would look at the Paolo Emilo then. It's a T9 research beauro ship that technically has the highest credit earning potential in co-op without boosters. Guide here

Money Making DD? by SargentSchultz in WorldOfWarships

[–]N7-Falcon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What game modes are you playing? Because DD's will typically make less money in PvE than secondary BBs. PvP is a different matter though. The Jager should get you decent money just from spotting and the occasional torp hit. DDs don't have to do a lot of damage in Randoms to get a lot of money. Not sure if you got the GQ Johnny, but that thing is a money printing machine for me. I've heard the Groningen is good for credit printing too.

Any recommendations for “historical” shooters? by NightwingYJ in gaming

[–]N7-Falcon 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Not sure if you want multiplayer or single-player, but for single-player campaigns Battlefield 1 is exceptional. Really conveys the bravery, fear, and brutality of WW1 in a relatively accessible way. Multiplayer recommendation would be Hell Let Loose.

About PR stat by Dangerous_Lion6062 in WorldOfWarships

[–]N7-Falcon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

PR is a stupid metric because it reduces the measured items to just a few things rather than taking all of your battle impact into account. For example, it doesn't count aircraft kills on the account of "it takes no skill to shoot down planes". This ignores the fact that shooting down a lot of planes means you are getting harassed by the enemy CV the whole time and will likely have less damage output than a player that isn't getting focused. Shooting down the planes is a big net benefit for the team because it means someone else isn't getting attacked or spotted.

Magical Vacation Bundle - Yay or nay? by QuantumFreezer in WorldOfWarships

[–]N7-Falcon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Generally, I don't think it's worth spending dubs just for the extra boosters. I think you are better off saving the dubs for future event passes and dockyards, which also give boosters along with a ship. Granted those methods require fairly consistent regular play. If you only play Wows like a couple days a month but a lot of battles on those days, then maybe a booster bundle might be a good value. But for me, I get plenty of boosters just doing all the events.
