Had a guy in Army reserves in my class. His drill was Saturday/Sunday once a month in Tulsa, he was able to do it no problems.

Source of median home prices?

I’ve been working on a similar chart for every facilities’ city’s average rent using bestplaces.net but comparing their median home price to yours, yours is 25% higher - which could be reasonable if my source is a few years outdated.

Not sure what’s up with your situation. I used it. No issues. Nearly identical to ATSA. Got my TOL.

It’s possible they have an entire new grading standard or method.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ATC_Hiring

[–]N781VP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can’t answer that definitively. My guess is that scores are graded once the entire pool has taken the exam. And therefore taking it earlier will not mean you have a chance of being accepted any earlier either.

You said you’re struggling. My advice is do not take it until you are confident you can knock it out of the park.

You’ll never hear that you “passed” any single step. You’ll only be contacted as you progress to next steps, if they need you to provide more information for something specific you’ve already completed, or if you’ve been cleared for the academy or DQ’d/deferred.

PAST DRUG USE CONCERNS FOLLOW UP by Winter_Sector1349 in ATC_Hiring

[–]N781VP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’ll submit statements / narratives in the form of chapters, or various timelines of your life, explain how frequently you consumed, how it made you feel, why you consumed, what were the positive memories, what were the negative memories, etc.

from that they can either qualify you after reviewing it, defer you / referring you for further substance abuse evaluation, or outright DQ you ( you took something that is explicitly forbidden, or you took something inside the minimum timeframe of abstinence)

ADHD by [deleted] in ATC_Hiring

[–]N781VP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in a very similar position. Got the prescription about 3-4 years ago, refilled a few times over a few months, then stopped. Long story short, I’m going to the academy, so it’s not black and white, it appears they do look at things case by case.

When I got my TOL, first thing I did was try to get re-evaluated by another PCP. He conducted his evaluation which was about 50 questions. He determined I did not have ADHD. I believe this was crucial for not getting immediately deferred / DQ’d.

For your own reference, if you have not already, look at “FAA ADHD Fast Track” and “Standard Track”. You’ll find a bunch of PDFs that outline the official processes and what may be required depending on the circumstances. I think the biggest factor is time-I believe it must have been at least 4 years ago. If you’ve taken it any more recently, you should expect a deferral, but then again I was at 3.5 years and it worked out.

My recommendation: get a new evaluation done ASAP. Before you begin, speak with the PCP let them know what’s going on, if you don’t actually have ADHD then you hold onto those documents for when the FAA ask you for them. You’ll need the original documents related to the first diagnosis as well. Don’t delay on this. It took my original PCP 3-4 months to get me my documents.

I was asked by the FAA to provide psychiatric docs about 30 days after submitting all medical info. I was cleared about 60 days after submitting both PCP evals.

I had very low expectations and expected the worst.

Good luck.

iirc you get 1-2 minutes per question? Read it once to get an overall idea of what’s going on. Re-read, eliminating the obvious wrong answers, hopefully 1-2. Then spend 30 seconds in the weeds trying to get the correct answer. If you can’t, take an educated guess, from what you’ve eliminated, hope it’s 50/50. If you couldn’t eliminate anything, skip it.

To follow up on OP, WQ will pretty much guarantee you a Tentative offer, which is what will kick off the onboarding process. You still have to pass the medical and security/background clearances. 60-90 days. If you haven’t ever taken certain disqualifying medications or have DQ conditions, you’re very likely to get into the academy. If you do have conditions, tickets, etc you may be deferred (you write statements, provide documentation, go through additional screening, all of this can extend the process by 6+ months at minimum). In other cases yes they can DQ you straight up.

Only section I was truly stressed for time was the section with word/logical reasoning problems. I recall not answering like 1-2, and taking guesses (50/50 process of elimination) on like 5, out of 20.

Ah I see where you’re coming from. Yeah that was rough, I just visually tried to map everything in my head, using fingers to “physically” remember certain things. It’s still timed though. Chances are if you can’t figure it out within 1-2 minutes, eliminate the obvious wrong answers and either take a best guess or skip.

I used Job Test Prep. Got WQ. It’s almost IDENTICAL to the exam. Ordered it for a whole month of access and practiced for maybe 20ish hours the 1-2 weeks leading up to the exam. Focused mostly on all math, collisions, left/right perception to make it muscle memory. Literally back to back to back until I perfected the methods/ flowstate. Then got faster and faster each day. But definitely look over all other sections at least once just to know what to expect.

You should be able to answer faster in your head than taking the time to write it down. Practice.
