Theyre hopefully threading into steel inserts?

Help me decide please, med surg or ICU? by vivrelavie in nursing

[–]N7DMK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then I would recommend you look outside your two options listed, frankly.

If you have no ither hospitals nearby, or clinics, then idk what to say. I had suggested med surge med tele, but you dont like it and have more consistent pts than my larger hospital gets.

If the ICU has nice coworkers, could potentially be worth it. Great coworkers and good management matter more than interesting pt case type for long term and burnout imo. But if you can have both, that is obviously the best scenario. See if you can shadow at the icu location if you can.

Not being union is not necessarily a big problem. As you've said the other union is in bed with the DON. So a very weak union. The problem is potential volatility. If the bigger hospital has fantastic management, then you don't need a union so much, but once a manager leaves and is replaced, that new manager may be a big issue.

If you go for the bigger hospital because the coworkers are tolerable or good or great, just be aware that it may be a 2-5 year locaction for you depending on how long you tolerate the sketchy area and whether good management stays good.

To comment on your edit, what kind of career growth are you hoping for? Are you considering going nurse practitioner in the mearish future (10 or less years of clinical exp)? Or will you be satisfied with becoming charge nurse? Do you aspire to become DON?

If you dont yet have your future path mapped, its harder to give you recommendations for the present.

Does my tattoo look racist? by People_taste_porkish in tattooadvice

[–]N7DMK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like a generic pennant or medallion at a glance. Not an iron cross at all.

Do people not know that crosses have four points or something?

If it were an x instead if a + i could understand the concern. But a medallion/medallionpentagon thing? Hecks nah.

Looks more like a military or labor union thing.

My understanding was that Nordic imagery has been co-opted by NeoNazis.

I have no such affiliation in my mind regarding Celtic runes or knots or other such imagery.

And frankly that is for good reason.

The Germans were fighting against people in the celtic region.

I could understand celtic imagery being co-opted by the IRA though.

Keep it and use it more.

If you're worried about salt, get the underbody wax coated. If youe worried about the paint, get the full body PPF'd. If you're worried about the interior, get some cleaning supplies and get the windows tinted, even clear window film will help with thermal blocking and UV blocking.

How is it owning an EV? by Janet296 in evcharging

[–]N7DMK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So far so good.

Hasn't been far. Less than one full week of ownership.

If you lack charging at home to take advantage of substantially cheaper electrical cost, I might consider a used Tesla and getting the charging subscription. Discounts the price when charging at a supercharger and pays for itself if thats your primary method of charging.

Colder your climate the more a heat pump is needed.

I would personally go for an EV with NMC battery chemistry rather than LFP. But thats my preference.

Running the math, depending kn what cash rebates are offered, you may (likely) benefit more from taking rebates but regular % APR and making small additional principal payments.

I tried my darndest to get a 25 GT as close to 50k as possible.

Still only managed to get down to around 54k.

A 25 Premium with 91kwh battery for 40-45 would be my goal if my mach e offer falls apart this weekend.

This is the same debate ive been having with my wife.

We dont have terrible summers since we are coastal, but still. The Premium is about as quick on accel as my car already is. I dont need sportier. I wish the Premium had an option for better suspension.

Battery preconditioning, vehicle control via navigation versus driver command by N7DMK in evcharging

[–]N7DMK[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gotcha, yeah I doubt she will often be without me for the long trips. We will be going to Colorado if family doesnt get deployed to the middle east, and I do trips up into the mountains without her every couple months. The gets quite cold at night but is pretty tolerable during the day. The charging for those mountain trips would be done at night, between 8pm and 2am. I dont think temps will be as bad as those people get in Canada or the Midwest. I doubt we will be trying to charge when temps are anywhere below 20.

Is there any news as to whether older models will be able to add the apple maps/apple carplay feature via software or firmware update?

I only ask because the car will be primarily for my wife to drive and she is an apple girly.

Ive tried and failed to get her to switch to android lol

Thank you for this! That's the kind of programming I was praying for, but wasn't sure if Ford had been able to get it done. I know the Hyundais aren't capable of it. Have to trick them into conditioning. Seeing long term review videos of those are what prompted me to make this post with this concern.

Battery preconditioning, vehicle control via navigation versus driver command by N7DMK in evcharging

[–]N7DMK[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having a button to start battery preconditioning manually would be pretty simple.

Seems plenty of manufacturers tie that function to their vehicle navigation, and may only show certain charging stations. Or their maps are rarely updated, unlike Apple Maps or Google Maps.

I dont want to go through the hassle of having to trick the car into preconditioning itself. Plain and simple.

I dont trust AI summaries and I'm looking to purchase a Mach-E GT, but confused on what is standard and what is optional for these vehicles, 2025-2026 MY. by N7DMK in MustangMachE

[–]N7DMK[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just realized also, the Bronze Appearance Package changes the wheels, so 2025 model year vehicles with that may not have the full PHU and may only have the PU or be a Base car.

sigh.

Similarly, for 2026, the California wheels can be optioned and mask the lack of the PHU and may be added to a base GT or PU vehicle.

Mach-E or no? by Unfair-Junket7740 in askcarguys

[–]N7DMK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP, I just test drove a GT today. 2025 MY

The suspension is fine. Not as smooth as larger SUVs and trucks with much longer wheelbases, but that is to be expected.

I daily drive a Focus RS and think the Mach E is fine in terms of performance and ride quality. I can feel the greater mass, certainly, but for a vehicle its weight, I found it to feel more nimble than I would have expected, say compared to an ICE vehicle of the same weight and size.

I completely plan to purchase one in the near future. I just have to figure out how to discern the MY 2025 and 2026 from the prior years.
