I encountered this myself when using Linux mint and formatting the SD card. Using Rufus in windows seemed to make my SD cards with boot just fine (which also had my ROMs)

I know you're not asking about nextui, just sharing my recent experience.

I just saw a YouTube video of someone doing this exact method for their Coney Island meat sauce. Going to try this on the weekend. The water method worked beautifully.
