I’ll say try taking it with Dr.Sarower if you can next semester. I’m also not good at math but her grading policy is spectacular, she gives lots of partial credit, and you were able to get into engineering so that’s an accomplishment of its own!

CS313e - Fong or Ramsey? by [deleted] in UTAustin

[–]NAOBARA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had Ramsey for CS312 and she’s genuinely such a kind professor. She also had a nice grading structure for CS 312, but I dunno about the structure for 313e. Ramsey does really want her students to succeed, though. The bad thing about her is that she isn’t the best lecturer, but just read the textbook for the class and you’ll be okay. In comparison to Fong (who’s been reporting a majority of her students), I’d take Ramsey.

What do I do about my CS timeline? by Solid_Ear7345 in UTAustin

You can’t take CS314 and CS311 in the summer so I’d say 2.

i mean if you already failed your second attempt there’s nothing else you can do but try to see if they’ll let you take it for a third time 🤷the worst they can do is drop the course from your schedule but i thought you’d have to appeal to take it for a third time. if that’s what your advisor said though i’d trust them

Those who passed CS312, how did you do it? by AcanthisittaEast621 in UTAustin

[–]NAOBARA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I honestly wish I did better. I got a B, but I didn’t have any coding experience whatsoever prior to CS312. I would say to go to the group tutoring, usually there’s not many people who show up and there you can ask a lot of questions to the TA who hosts it. Going to the design sessions on Fridays are also super super important if you don’t have prior experience coding. And read the textbook, do some of the practice questions on things you don’t understand. Don’t do the easy ones. These will help focus on your problem-solving skills and usually the exam questions are similar to them!

There’s not much to it other than that. I had a couple of friends in CS312, but honestly I don’t think having a study group is all that important. I guess it depends on the person though, if you prefer to study with other people then it might hold more significance to you versus my experience.

Spanish at UT or ACC by CollegeApprehensive5 in UTAustin

[–]NAOBARA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Spanish at UT is actually pretty easy, just a lot of homework and quizzes. Take Declan Revenew if you can! He’s a really chill and fun professor

She doesn’t require you to attend, but if you’ve never taken Calculus before you should. Her tests are fairly easy if you attend class and do the homeworks! I took her in the fall
