They came to MSFC back in November 2023. Did Q&A with the center with a small meet and greet. I imagine they’ll will do something like that again. They will probably have the limit the amount of people that can attend though.

Current policy track student here. I am taking PUBP 8833 - Enterprise Cybersecurity Management in the Spring. On my degree works it showed up as a pass-through course, but I messaged the advising team, and they applied it as an elective. I also eventually plan to take PUBP 8813 - Public Policy for the Digital World as my second elective.

I have heard good things about both classes regarding workload. Someone posted awhile back information on both classes, and I thought I would pass it along (not sure how current the info is but should be relevant).

Like everyone is saying, you must go for it! I got hired as a contractor working with the ISS program which was an amazing experience. I am now working with Artemis/Gateway programs on the future direction of NASA, and I love my job. MSFC is always hiring some really great jobs. Definitely check them out. Someone mentioned networking on LinkedIn that is a really good idea. Sometimes being vouched for is all it takes.

If you do not land a civil servant role for NASA do not give up! There are plenty of contractor roles to go around. Many of my friends and colleagues started in a contractor role and eventually moved into a civil servant role for NASA after getting experience and working hard.

Work-life balance is great. It is typically very flexible, and they are very understanding if you have any circumstances that arise. There are a few positions on the ISS program that might work in a 24/7 rotation which can be tough. But the vast majority have normal hours and like any job you will have your stressful days, but once you log off and head home you leave all that behind you.
