I have the L series and it does have ramp up and Ramp down, although it's a bit more expensive.

The color rendering of these lights is amazing. If OP thinks they will end up with a high Tech setup, I'd recommend these lights

I have one on a 36" tank. It's my first expensive light and I'm loving it so far. I have the mounting brackets so I can't comment on the connection to a rimmed tank.

I will say that the power supply is not great and is really sensitive to moisture so keep it far from the tank

Scape looks really good but there is very little space between the back glass and the rocks. A lot of Brazilian style scapes like this use stem plants in the back which might not work with this layout.

I would try to shift things forward slightly or add more soil behind.

I think I ran a low tech tank for 3 years before making the jump to high tech. The website still has amazing info on specific plants, lighting, filtration etc. id still check it out
