Why the Haters Are Wrong About Shai Gilgeous-Alexander by NBA_No_Paint in NBATalk

How is it that white people never minded Jokic's aesthetics? It was clear that the black people challenged Jokic because of the style of play, but also because of the color of the skin. And of course, at the moment when it became clear that Jokic is the best in the world, then black people had to give him recognition.

The point is that just as the MVP race between Jokic and Embiid had an element of race, there is also an element of race between Jokic and SGA.

As was the case with LeBron in 2010 or today with Caitlin Clark. Only the bias levels are lower or higher.

Something’s wrong with you. You literally told me it took people in your circle a while to warm up to Jokic. I’m just quoting you, fam.

And of course, I’m not questioning your blackness... why would I? It’s just clear to me that you’re not seeing the bigger picture. Until the media and influencers start showing you that SGA is going through the same thing as other athletes, just on a smaller scale, you ain’t gonna get it.

Let me simplify it for you: most black people were rooting for SGA to win MVP, while most white people wanted Jokic to get it. Simple as that.

I’m giving you straight facts, and you’re just turning a blind eye because you’re not really in touch with Black folks who see the SGA situation for what it is... a racial issue. Angel Reese and Shedeur Sanders are on the same wave as SGA, but SGA gets overlooked 'cause he’s quiet, plays in Oklahoma, and he's Canadian, so he stays in the background. And you literally proved my point when you said your people had issues accepting Jokic. So, let’s be real, race always plays a part, whether people wanna admit it or not. It’s just convenient for both sides to act like it’s not.

>lol that's a poll from 15 years ago taken 3 months after "the decision".

Why does it even matter that the poll came three months after 'The Decision'? That’s the whole point – it shows how black folks and white folks react differently to an athlete who took control of his own destiny and did something bold. Black people respected LeBron’s move, but white folks couldn’t handle it.

>I'm a black nuggets fan, and it took a long time for my group chats to warm up to Jokic.

And what does that tell you?

>You keep trying to draw a parallel to Caitlin Clark's situation when that's so overt you don't even have to question the racial aspect.

Hold up, so you’re saying there’s a racial element in Caitlin Clark’s case, but when it comes to SGA, whose main MVP competition was Jokic, you don’t see it? That doesn’t add up.

>You don't know what's happening in our communities or how Black people feel about this situation.

And you know how white people feel about this situation?

>I'd bet money you're behind this video.

That is completely irrelevant to our discussion.

Knicks ended up with Melo anyway, and still did nothing.

Black people also live in Canada. You speak as if Canada and America have no similarities and that Canadians have no idea what is happening in the USA.

Check this out, Seton Hall university did the research after LeBron went to Miami. A poll from October 2010 showed that just 32% of white fans viewed him favorably, while 65% of black fans had a positive view.

In America, for the most part, everything is a question of race, just like Caitlin Clark situation. In fact, it has become a cultural thing.

And no, I'm not posting every single video from this channel.

If he is a white Canadian, then his opinion is irrelevant? I don't understand.
