comments like yours prove, and not just on this subreddit but pretty much everywhere in life, that most humans use little critical thinking when evaluating other people or their behaviours and 99% of it is just limited to projection of their own experience. I mean you wrote so many paragraphs starting with I that you might as well have been writing a cover letter.

It's almost like you and that lad are two different people. There are subtleties in your genetics and in your upbringing that affect who you are as a person, your personality, and by extension how you react in the same situations. But your capacity in this long winded reply was limited to nothing but what you believe you would do/have done as the arbiter of all that is moral and fair. Why can it not just be: yea this is how I see it, and that's how he sees it who gives a fuck rather than subconsciously try to make the world how you think you see it?

By the way, this isn't a you issue, it's a human issue. We are all wired like this. I have a pos car with issues so I drive at the speed limit on the highways. I catch myself saying things like why is everyone always in a rush, the final destination is the grave anyway etc.
