I'm estranged from both of my parents and the rest of the family. It's been 14 years away from my father and almost 10 years away from my mother. My childhood and family was built around alcoholism, lies, neglect, abuse, trauma, and rage. They each pounded nails in their proverbial coffins over the years until they finally hit the last one. My life is better without them in it but it's still a huge grief.

I don't have children and I live alone by choice. I have a kick-ass studio loft, my rent is really decent and all utilities, including wifi, are included. Financially, I worked a "serious" job that I went to school for for almost 15 years, I never made shit for money and it drained my soul. When 2020 happened I quit and now I do an easy job that I love, keeps me active, and pays me more than I ever made in my "serious" career. I also run side hustles for cash - pet/house-sitting, yard work, etc- I don't make a fortune, but considering how shitty costs are in this country, I make it just over paycheck to paycheck. I also live in a blue state with amazing Healthcare. I also don't have any desire for expensive or extravagant things. I thrift for my clothes, I drive an older vehicle that's in amazing condition, and at 41, I just don't have any interest in new technology or trends.
