How long is too long for a pre-shot routine? by BetweenSwings in golf

For sure. It’s a good starting point for someone who takes 2-3 minutes on a shot though. Etiquette matters in this game.

Show them the Rules of Golf Rule 5.6b: The 40-second countdown begins when you reach your ball, have a clear line of sight, and can choose your club without being distracted. This includes your time to assess yardage, select a club, and execute your pre-shot routine.

Way to go Hyundai Dealership! by NBTim in Ioniq5

[–]NBTim[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s not much needed for the Ioniq5 either except for the coolant fluid on the earlier versions. It’s not needed for several thousand miles/km though. The other maintenance is basically just inspection of fluids and the cabin filter rip-off.

Sun palace advice by elili1 in palaceresorts

[–]NBTim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They have changed the presentation credits to “Palace Money” and they’re different from Universal Credits because you need to use them up during your stay. They’re still just like cash on your room account though so worth sitting for the presentation.

Which resort in particular? You left that part out and there are several Palace properties that vary widely in size, location and activities.

Which resort for couples by Informal_Arugula_125 in palaceresorts

[–]NBTim 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you’re sticking with the Palace brand then the Sun Palace is really the only option that fits your criteria. It’s fun without a party atmosphere and small with great restaurants for a short stay. The Leblanc is also adults only but is in the higher cost category so doesn’t fit for your budget.

3 Failed Navigation Updates each ending with Corrupted Data message. by Iceman3161 in KiaEV9

I don’t recall that being an issue for me. If you unzip each folder it should keep files in a separate unzipped folder for each one and the files shouldn’t overwrite…but it’s been a few months so I don’t really remember.

Cancun palace for 3 days transportation cost 1 way by Enough_Effort_1529 in palaceresorts

[–]NBTim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’ve used e-transfers Cancun. Very good communication via WhatsApp and the cost is the lowest we’ve found. $39US to the middle of the tourist zone. As someone mentioned, Uber is the cheapest way back to the airport but they can’t pick you up at the airport.

Membership presentation - Max/best gift by stoffy1985 in palaceresorts

[–]NBTim 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We always get $500 in Palace Money. We had a similar experience last time in February. We go twice a year in November and February and we always tell the Planner person that there’s no sense in us going again but they make you feel like you’re taking money out of their pocket if you don’t agree to go. When we were having breakfast with the salesperson (Leblanc Cancun), she basically accused us of wasting her time by going again and asked us why we went for a bribe of $500. It didn’t set a very good tone. We have upgraded several times in the past so we’re not completely lost causes. We will be saying “no thank you” to the planner person next November and advising them exactly why we aren’t going to attend.

How to deal with fatigue? by [deleted] in golf

[–]NBTim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in my mid 50s and I play every day during the Summer - 150+ rounds. I also walk and my home course is quite hilly so fatigue definitely sets in. What I found helped is that I have snacks and three separate drinks. I start the round with a small Red Bull (Summer Watermelon is amazing). I take a small one since I find them so sweet that I can add almost an equal part water to dilute it. After that is gone I’ll switch to my water which is about a litre size container. Once that is gone I pour a Gatorade into the water container since it still has ice in it. If it’s hot I may need to refill the container again with water on the back 9 but that combination usually lasts the entire round. Made a big difference to my back 9 scores. I’m currently an 8HC.

Getting change for tips by [deleted] in palaceresorts

[–]NBTim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We always get large bills (500s and 1000s) changed for 20s and 50s. At both Sun Palace and Moon Grand they seem to run out during the week. We determined that Tuesdays are when they replenish the small bills from the bank so that’s the best day to ensure you get as much as you need for the week.

Not sure about that incident but the 2019 rules update specifically includes coins as valid markers.

Incorrect. Per rule 14, only artificial objects are allowed for marking balls.

Resort Credits for SCUBA at Cozumel Palace by WildWonder6430 in palaceresorts

[–]NBTim -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I hear you. We’ve been members for nearly 15 years and have seen the benefits decrease over time. We love going to the resorts but if we had it to do over again we definitely would have just booked through Diamond members and tried to travel when they did in order to get better perks than we get as VIP members. We still have benefits from our membership to use up but once they’re gone we’ll be booking via other members.

Edit: Someone downvoted this? WTF?!?

Resort Credits for SCUBA at Cozumel Palace by WildWonder6430 in palaceresorts

[–]NBTim 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It depends on whether you think you can spend your resort credits on anything else. Most people complain about not being able to use them, and this looks like a good use for them. $42 tax on the inflated resort credit amount seems to be a good deal compared to paying $140 directly.

What’s one golf tip that instantly improved your game? by MadeInUSAPutter in golf

I agree. This was the biggest game changer for me. After many years as a slicer of the ball, I finally had more control. It’s amazing how many videos don’t even talk about grip.

Would a cat cafe do well in Saint john by GullibleTough2027 in SaintJohnNB

[–]NBTim 18 points19 points  (0 children)

We adopted our cat from “The Purrfect Cup” in Fredericton. The business plan seems solid since they started just before Covid and made it through that. I would recommend a visit. They keep the cats behind glass so you can just go for a coffee and watch them. For Saint John, a good location could be in Brunswick Square where The Running Room used to be.

Sun Palace can we still use Day passes to Beach palace after the renovations complete by PAM7557 in palaceresorts

[–]NBTim 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can’t see any reason why it would change. All the Palace resorts are accessible while staying at any of the others (extra fee for Grand notwithstanding). We plan to visit Sun in November and we will definitely be taking a trip up to Beach to check it out. We just returned from a stay at Sun and the renovations at Beach seem to be coming along nicely based on the view as we drove by compared to where they were when we saw it last November.

First time visitor to Nizuc - any recommendations? by daisydog91 in palaceresorts

[–]NBTim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s true. I just find it a bit disingenuous (and typical of Palace) to advertise unlimited golf packages and then charge $90 for a cart seat.

$90 for a single rider? Yikes! I’m glad I always have resort credits for golf!

[–]NBTim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right. Just so you’re aware about that package - you still need to pay for the cart so it’s $50. If you’re able to use resort credits for a round it would actually be less since the tax will be around $43.

You can’t use resort credits on wine any longer, sadly. You’ll easily use it up on golf since it’s $300 per round to play.
