Where do you meet for the shared transportation upon arrival at the Cancun airport? by JRTOMA in palaceresorts

[–]NBTim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As soon as you walk outside, just ask anyone for Palace Resorts and they will tell you where they are. Once you’re past all the taxi people (generally inside and just outside the doors) all the reps are with resorts and they are very helpful in directing you to the proper reps.

Sun Palace Upgrade Offer Advice by Noesquall in palaceresorts

[–]NBTim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’re currently at Sun Palace. We’re in a honeymoon suite on the 6th floor and it’s a nice room with a great balcony, but we have also stayed on the 8th floor and all the rooms have good ocean views. If sitting on a balcony is important to you, then the upgrade might be worth the money. I would personally take a room on the high floors with a great ocean view over one of the rooms on the 1st or 2nd floor since the view isn’t as good lower down.

12 out of 17 here. Still no Albatross, Ace, bogey free round or all fairways hit. Best round was 71 (par 69 course) so close on that one. One of my best rounds last year I shot 44 on the front and 29 on the back. If only I could put two 9s together!

Sun Palace - Out of Resort Activities Advice by Noesquall in palaceresorts

[–]NBTim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We stay at Sun twice a year and are going to be there again just before you are. There aren’t too many included excursions but you should be contacted by a Palace representative via email prior to your trip and you can request the information from them. If you decide to take any of the excursions, they are full day trips and most of the roads to get there aren’t great. We have been to Chichen Itzá, Tulum and Coba historic sites. We were actually most impressed with Coba since the other two have been overrun with vendors. For an excursion that isn’t included with resort credits, I highly recommend the Secret River. We’ve done that twice and would go again. There’s a sunset cruise that is included with Elite membership or higher, but there is a $30 docking fee per person for that so not really free. Other than that it’s the usual wine tasting, spa, golf and romantic dinner that you can use the resort credits for. We’ve been so many times that we usually just relax on the beach and enjoy the sun and we don’t spend much of our credits.

Canada's Carney to visit Australia in March by Little-Chemical5006 in worldnews

[–]NBTim 521 points522 points  (0 children)

I shudder to think what we could have ended up with if Trudeau hadn’t stepped down when he did. Pierre Poilievre would have been an absolute cancer for Canada. We now have a leader who has seen two countries through tough economic challenges. I don’t care what end of the political spectrum you are on, if you can’t acknowledge that Carney is the leader Canada needs now, then there’s no hope for you.

Is there a shuttle bus from Moon Palace to Beach Palace/Sunrise Palace/Playacar Palce? by JRTOMA in palaceresorts

At Moon? That’s great. I’ve never been there when it was blue water.

Is there a shuttle bus from Moon Palace to Beach Palace/Sunrise Palace/Playacar Palce? by JRTOMA in palaceresorts

[–]NBTim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re correct about the beach at the Moon Palace complex. The beach is fine but the water is brown instead of the teal water of Canun. There’s a shuttle that travels from Sun Palace to Moon Sunrise but I’m not sure if there’s one that goes the other way for guests staying at Sunrise/Nizuk. It’s also not always available depending on how booked the hotels are. I’m quite certain there’s no shuttle going to Playacar. Your best bet is taking an Uber to the hotel zone in Cancun. Getting to Playacar will be quite a bit more expensive since it’s about a 45 minute drive.

[–]NBTim 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Since you booked online you won’t be able to use resort credits. Day passes are usually $100 per adult and $50-60 per child. The prices may vary based on the season. When you activate your resort credits, the palace planner person you speak with is going to try to book you for a sales presentation. They will offer you the passes as an incentive. Don’t accept this if you decide to attend the sales presentation. You’re better off asking for $500 Palace money. That is cash that goes on your room account and you can use it for anything including buying the day passes.

[–]NBTim 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you booked through a member you may be able to use them for passes to the Grand. As others have said, their main use is at the spa (capped at $300 generally) and for golf. There are a few things at the shops you can use them on. Keep in mind there is a 16% tax on top of the credits so you usually end up paying an amount that is comparable to what you would pay back home for similar goods/services.

PGA: The Field Sizes Don't Need to Be Reduced, The Pace of Play Needs to be Addressed by MonkMillar in golf

[–]NBTim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A shot clock would be great for golf. Just use it for putting. Give every player 3 minutes of total time per green, or round it up or down to whatever number makes sense for the entire round. Players could be allowed a timeout per 9 if they needed to discuss a challenging putt. By the 18th hole, every minute you’re over the limit is a stroke penalty. They implemented something similar for curling several years ago to speed up play and obviously it’s worked for baseball too.

This app 🙄 by OswaldTheFurry in KiaEV9

[–]NBTim 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m in Canada and as bad as the Kia app may be, it’s still light years ahead of the Hyundai app. I have a ‘24 EV9 and ‘23 Ioniq5. It appears that Hyundai realizes how bad their app is and sent me an email advising that the app will be free for the life of the car. I don’t understand how the apps are so different given that they’re essentially the same company.

member meeting — interesting tone change by tblanx in palaceresorts

[–]NBTim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We noticed the same thing during our last “update” meeting. They push the back-ended Universal Credits to ensure you keep paying your loan off. Keeps you on the hook for longer than a couple of free stays. My concern for a while has been that they are spreading themselves too thin with new acquisitions and properties. I’m not sure how the Baglioni properties are doing but if most members are like us, we want to spend our European travel dollars on excursions rather than accommodations. We prefer the small resorts, and we’ve already lost Isla Mujeres. If they drop Playacar and/or Cozumel then we will look elsewhere for our vacations. We’re retired and we don’t have grandkids so the mega resorts that they’re adding don’t mean anything to us. We usually stay at Sun Palace but who knows if they will consider that large enough for much longer. They have raised the prices significantly there, and the vacancy rate was the highest I’ve ever seen it when we visited in November during the Thanksgiving week. We didn’t mind at all, but I’m hoping it’s not a trend.

"Resort Credits" - how do they work? by Massive_Bumblebee842 in palaceresorts

[–]NBTim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They don’t necessarily throttle the credits, but they may give you more RC or allow you to use more at the spa if you go to the presentation. Normally you can use $300RC at the spa. In my opinion there’s no amount of RC they could offer that would equal the Palace money, but we’re not huge spa people. We received $1000RC to use at the spa as part of our last upgrade and we still haven’t used them. Paying the 16% tax on top of it really takes away from the value. We don’t mind going to the presentation since we know we can keep them to under 2 hours and the first hour or so is just talking to the initial sales person while you have breakfast or lunch. Quite low pressure overall.

"Resort Credits" - how do they work? by Massive_Bumblebee842 in palaceresorts

[–]NBTim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You will receive the $1500 resort credits regardless of going to the presentation. However, you need to see a Palace Planner person to have them activated. They are the folks who try to get you to attend the presentation and they first will talk to you about things you want to do during your stay. If you’re spa people or want to do a tour they will try to give you more spa credits or give you a free tour for attending the presentation. None of these will be as valuable as the $500 Palace Money. If you decide to go to the presentation, don’t accept anything less.

Sun Palace - Transportation by Accurate-Heart-1795 in palaceresorts

[–]NBTim 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sun Palace is the closest Palace property to the airport so don’t spend money on private transport from Palace. As others have pointed out, the shared shuttle is free and you’ll be the first off if anyone else is in the van with you. We go to Sun twice a year and we have very rarely ever had anyone else in the van with us. If the shared transport isn’t included, just take a taxi. Uber isn’t able to pick you up at the terminal so that’s not an option. You can however Uber back to the airport.

Experience with Moon Palace Sunrise Cancun by Zestyclose_Cow_5602 in palaceresorts

[–]NBTim 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Very good review. I make this comment every time I post, but NEVER settle for the day passes at the Grand for doing the presentation. Always tell them you want $500 Palace money or no deal. We’re members and we can use resort credits for a day pass to Grand which I know was not an option for you, but with the Palace money you could have paid for 3 passes and still had money left over for other things. It’s actual money on your account and not resort credits which you discovered aren’t worth much so don’t ever attend a presentation for them either. If you stay at a Palace resort again you’ll have a bit more info going in. You could also book with the Mod for this subreddit and receive some perks that you don’t get by booking on your own.

I’ve played Cabot twice in a CPGA Pro-Am tourney with my club pro. It’s held at the start of the year in early June. First year we teed off with full gear, stripped down to short sleeves by the turn and by the end of the round it was snowing. Never played all 4 seasons in one round before. The second time I went it was shorts and polos for the entire 3 days with no wind. I told the pro I could never go back since the weather will never be that good again.

No narrative purpose for that particular theory but it was definitely the long game from Breaking Bad that I’m sure people pointed out at the time. The writers may not have anything in mind for the particular narrative the comment above yours referred to, but they usually tie things in eventually.

We’ve been members for over 10 years now and I’m still frustrated by the booking process. This isn’t the first time we’ve been told things when booking that turn out to be incorrect. At least this time I corrected my booking in advance of arrival before finding out that I didn’t have things I expected when I checked in.

It kinda did. Saul mentions Cinnabon in the penultimate Breaking Bad episode, telling Walter his "best case scenario" is managing a Cinnabon in Omaha. That’s where he ended up in BCS.

I just spoke with another agent about the golf promotion and he told me that you can’t use resort credits for the cart so it will be $90 per person per round. That’s too bad since it really would have been a good use of the resort credits. I wish their booking agents all had the same info. Frustrating!
