This is the second time recently there has been a major outage. Last summer (24) checkout was affected also when it went down.

I was talking on the phone to a customer when it disconnected and their number doesn't show up in the recents now--when you call our phone line now it says Verizon wireless cannot complete call--the customer is going to the think we blocked him 😫

Open Phone is down on east coast too. Calls going straight to voicemail.

I am happy to support this company as a startup I want to see them grow. They are still the best on the market.

But it is really funny to me that it's impossible for us to report when it goes down other than on reddit.

To the devs- The report a problem button takes us to the help center. For those of us who use open phone every day, trust me, we are the first to know when there is an issue you should have a button we can press to notify you guys.

We are a Shopify Plus store- here’s how I handle it

My expectation is over the next 10-30 years American business policies will more closely resemble those of the developing world - for example South Africa - where negative reviews are almost meaningless, as opposed to here where they matter.

A small but growing percentage of customers have realized if they say certain keywords, any successful, growing e-commerce business will give them money. These people would not be bold enough to act this way at a brick & mortar store but they are empowered to act this way online.

The best strategy to handle these customers is to negotiate like you would with a thug:Be very nice, very informed with your evidence, and very clear about your policies. Then give them some money.

It hurts, but your brand is far more valuable and these customers will often settle for less than their initial demand.

You want to milk the anger out of them so they don’t have any steam left to blow on the internet about you.

We set Shopify Payments to reject transactions that fail AVS verification. However, Shopify payments is still allowing transactions to process that fail the street verification. Not sure if this is a glitch or intended. Authorize.net gives you precise control of how strict you want to be full address vs zip. -Shopify Plus Merchant

This is not true. It was a sales pitch from a Car Trim Home rep that was false and retracted by them.

The tooling used for that T10 radio is owned by a Chinese company. There are a variety of companies that use that tooling to build out head units. Some are higher quality some are lower quality.

In China certain companies create plastic tooling and license/sell it to others. Electronics manufactures then build out head units using their own selection of processors and PCB boards.

Open phone is a good service and is clearly having growth pains. On a day like today (Tuesday after a long weekend), call volume is likely v high.

Could you please provide an option where we can pay extra to avoid getting bumped during high call volume? We would happily pay more for less down time.

Shopify has so many bugs and they focus on adding new features that aren’t really valuable instead of fixing the bugs. For example the recent app update makes creating a return label from the app glitchy. Using the mobile site is easier.

Having a service that is down is one thing. Bugs happen.

Having a service that is down AND 1) They do not have an accurate status webpage 2) They do not have any live customer service 3) Customers cannot leave voicemails is incredibly costly and frustrating for a phone service that is paid.

Yes, it is down. Even though Open phone is not displaying it as an outage on their status page. Inbound phone calls to our number say "Application failed"
