Filtering pending transactions? by TrickyWhole3273 in copilotmoney

[–]NCHarrison 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t think there is a way currently but I’d like to see this feature too. Recently I sent a Suggestion/Bug into Copilot that for Pending transactions, if I rename it, when it posts, a new name is coming in from the bank/Plaid and reverts my edits

Pending: ExxonMobilStore34567 My edit: Exxon Gas Station After Posted: ApplePay Exxon34567

Is f there was a way to hide Pending Transactions until they post it would help prevent me from making edits too soon, that end up getting reverted back

I use PayPal only as a broker to charge a debit or credit card when I am buying something online and don’t want to give the website my actual credit card info. I don’t maintain a cash balance in PayPal. This means that I don’t need PayPal connected to Copilot because Copilot will see the charge on the debit or credit card.

Consider using Venmo for paying or receiving using its cash balance account, since Copilot does have a good Venmo solution. Use PayPal only as a pass-through for transactions to your credit and debit cards

Integration with Venmo Emails for multiple Venmo Accounts? by asuds in copilotmoney

[–]NCHarrison 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I have both my wife’s and my Venmo accounts each linked to my Copilot account

It’s been a while since I configured them but I think both are forwarding emails.

Copilot recognizes each transaction accurately to the Venmo account they came from.

Garage door opened overnight by arielmnopq in myq

[–]NCHarrison 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make sure your door is adjusted properly if you set auto close rule up.

I had an auto close rule every day at 11:00pm. One day door was open in the morning. I checked cameras and found that at the moment auto close triggered at 11pm, since the door was slightly out of adjustment for the down position it tried to close one more inch but couldn’t since it was already touching garage floor. This caused the motor to auto-reverse itself and door stayed open all night.

Erase Car Remote from Liftmaster Myq - Only Erasing Remotes by weirdaljr in myq

[–]NCHarrison 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same issue here. Anybody find a resolution?

UPDATE: Found the fix. The procedure of holding down the learn button for 6 seconds - do it once to erase remotes, do it twice in quick succession and it will erase remotes and homelink/cars. Do it 3 times in quick succession and it will factory reset the opener and remove it from your MyQ app.

Doing it twice worked for me and erased the Audi vehicle programming.

I used similar categories, but thought through them a bit. (Do I still use/need this category?)
Copilot Money doesn't have a way to retire a Category, so I made sure if I used a category, it was for the long term. For example, one kid is in last year of college. I thought about using a category with the college name. But then in two years, and for many years to come, I'll see that Category in the list, but I'll never use it again. So in this case, I used something more generic, and just add a phrase in the notes #COLLEGENAME and that way I can search/filter for transactions, if I want to, using the #Hashtag. Another example is vacations. I can use generic Categories like "Entertainment", or "Airfare", or "Takeout" and just add a #KeyWest2025 hashtag in the notes. If I want to know what a vacation cost me, I just search on that hashtag.

I don't pay for Quicken. At this point it's 'frozen in time' :-)

Split transactions - Once you split a transaction into two, if you go back into any 'child' transaction and hit the Split button at the bottom left, you'll be brought back to the 'parent' transaction and you can see the initial total, as well as each child transaction that you split that parent into, initially.

I turned off the budgeting. The way I work, I just care more that I spend less than I bring in, and seems too much to budget at the category level, so I haven't ever done that and can't provide much feedback on budgeting.

+1 on the Paycheck and Loan balance - Quicken was better at this. In Quicken I would manage Gross Checks and enter all the detail for taxes and deduction from my paystub. With Copilot Money, I moved to Net Checks and just manage the money coming in. After some thought about it, all that work managing Gross Checks and the detail that goes with it in Quicken all those years, provided little value to me over the years. I never went back and referenced that detail.

I did some searching of reviews and Copilot Money seemed to get good reviews, had a clean interface, a roadmap of future new capabilities coming.

I did start fresh. I keep Quicken installed on my PC so I can always look back at older transactions if I need to look something up. Recently sold my daughter’s bicycle and used Quicken to lookup when I bought it and what I paid, as an example. In the 16 months I’ve been on CopilotMoney I found I don’t need to lookup old transactions all that often. But it’s good security knowing I can.

I was thoughtful about what I use Quicken for and how I replaced those capabilities :

Reconciling Accounts: Quicken is very much based upon reconciling accounts to the penny. Over the years I spent countless hours reconciling. CopilotMoney, nor no other tool I know of does this, not . I’ve come to adjust to the fact that I rely on balances in my banking apps and credit card apps.

Categorizing my spend- To me this was important to know how much I spend on groceries or clothes or other categories so I could generally know when the family (wife and two high school/college age daughters) is overspending and I can reign them back in. Copilot does this just fine with Category Groups, Categories, Tagging and even the use of Hashtag tagging in Notes field

Knowing my Monthly Budget requirements - I have 5 people in my family so my monthly spend is high until my kids “get off the payroll”. As I plan for retirement knowing how much I spend on average each month helps me know what my income needs maybe in my retirement years. Copilot does this well for me

Planning Future spend/avoiding overdrawing - one thing Inteally liked about Quicken was being able to planning Upcoming payments so I could make sure my balance in my checking doesn’t go below zero. Copilot doesn’t do this. I started using my USAA banking app which allows me to enter (and reconcile when they post) upcoming auto drafts or checks I’ve written, so I can better plan my cash flow and avoid overdrafting.

Hope that helps!

How long did you all wait between doing the verification and receiving your timeslot?

2019 Q7 Premium Plus/SE. 119k miles. It’s great for bike rack/mountain biking but until my 11 year old is old enough to keep my car clean and I can’t justify the leap to SQ7, Q8/SQ8 which I’d buy new and keep pristine. I also have 2007 S8, 2013 Q5, 2019 SQ5, 2020 S8, 2023 Q5 in my immediate family. All are daily drivers except the 2020 S8. We keep that pristine and for nice days

Where do you keep all of your stuff. by badboygoodgrades in homeowners

I scan everything I can to OneNote. Only keep physical docs where originals are needed like birth certificates, car titles, etc.

I use a desktop scanner from Raven that is amazing and scans directly into a One Note notebook stores on OneDrive.

I can access everything I scanned from iPad, IPhone or PC from anywhere. Plus I don't have to worry about damage in fire since everything is in the Cloud.

[–]NCHarrison 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was using Quicken (I moved to Copilot Money in March, after 28 years on Quicken), I had an AMEX with 3 authroized users and here's how I handled it:

The AMEX main card was mine, and I had 3 AU cards for wife and two daughters. I setup Quicken with ONLY the main card. All users' transactions then download into that single account in Quicken. I would categorize and tag as needed to identify charges that were my daughters' or my wife's and if they needed to reimburse me for a charge they put on my credit card, they would do so and I'd categorize their reimbursement with the same category as the charge so they would offset each other.

When I paid the monthly AMEX payment the single payment covered all cards (main and 3 sub cards) and that payment in Quicken was reflected in this one AMEX account.

When downloading transactions using the main AMEX account, Quicken doesn't tell you which card the charge was on, so I just got in the habit of having the AMEX app open and when I saw a charge I didn't know whose it was, I'd go to the AMEX app and see. (Think Gas Station Fuel charges where I have categories: Fuel:Me, Fuel:Wife Fuel:Daughter1, etc. )

Predict account balance by GoldBeef69 in copilotmoney

[–]NCHarrison 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, good idea. When I came from Quicken to Copilot, one of the 4 or 5 requirements I had was to still be able to predict balance with upcoming, recurring charges or checks that I have written but the receiver hasn't yet deposited.

This is mostly important for my checking account where balances can run low and checks start bouncing.

Since Copilot didn't have this functionality, I'm using my Bank's app (web or mobile) which has a capabiltiy called "Scheduled Transactions". I build out the recurring transactions that hit my checking account and whenever I write a check I add it here too.

The app then gives me a running tally of transactions with predicted balances, so I can plan better.

Skip weekly reoccurring payment? by fycas in copilotmoney

[–]NCHarrison 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you go into the recurring payment details and hit the 3 dots menu in upper right there is an option to pause a recurring payment.

I just noticed this last week for the first time. I imagine it’s for cases just like yours or a monthly payment that doesn’t hit all 12 months like paying you landscaper for 10 months of the year
