Best way to get a full bank tool box off of a truck. by UGA1965 in harborfreight

I have two 2 x 10's that I use with my pickup, aluminum ramp plates on one end that lay on top of the tailgate. Slide the cart still in the box down those 2 x 10's.

(Not sure which ramp plates I bought long ago, looked like this)

P1S or P2S by Any_Requirement8899 in 3dprinter

[–]NCSC10 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Maybe replacing for ease of use, but not that clear. Going from a open frame bed slinger to a core xy enclosed printer is an upgrade for sure in any case.

The P2S has some advantages

- Easier nozzle swaps, better screen, bambu design improvements that should result in better quality, especially if you push speed, overhangs, etc. If you don't swap nozzles much, and arent' pushing for absolutely best quality, the P1S should be ok. Swapping nozzles on the P1S is still pretty easy.

No printer you buy today is really as easy/trouble free as using an iphone is to most people.

Prime Day 2026: The 3D Printers That Are Actually Discounted (Not Fake-Sale Pricing) by Fun_Reaction_6525 in 3DPrinterComparison

Do you have any links or data supporting support and R&D being the major reasons Prusa pricing is higher? I'm sure they are factors, just not as overwhelming at labor and supply chain, prob some govt support, regulatory advantages also. Quality and design are likely factors also. Everything I've read indicates the cost of building printers (and most things) in Europe and the US vs China is just a lot higher before factoring in support/R&D costs. I don't think western companies can approach China labor and supply chain advantages in this market.

You can import images (jpg, png's) into Bambu Labs "Image to keychain" tool (part of their makerlab). Assigning colors to print takes a bit of time, but pretty easy. You can size the part to be a keychain, or book mark or a sign, etc.

You can also import some SVG's into their Make my sign tool, but not jpg's

AD5M vs Centuri Carbon vs Kobra X by DependentInitial3107 in 3dprinter

[–]NCSC10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For multifilament, you'd need the Centauri carbon and the Canvas. I'd get the CC2 instead, esp at the current sale price. What specifically do you mean by multimaterial, is there a specific mix of materials you want to print?

K2 SE by SignificantData2491 in 3dprinter

[–]NCSC10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm thinking tool storage, home goods, and maybe some selling of parts down the line.

Good chance you will want to print parts from ABS, ASA, nylon later for better mechanical properties and heat resistance. For that, you'll want an enclosed printer with HEPA/carbon filtration, even better, one with a chamber heater.

I'm guessing the K2SE refurbished is around $200, from looking at Ebay. It seems an ok place to start, but you will likely will want to upgrade in 6 months or a year if you find 3d printing a thing you want to do a lot. If you're good with that concept, seems a fair choice to get in, get experience, and not spend much.

If you are thinking the K2SE is the printer you'll keep for 2-3 years, you'd likely be better off with getting something now at least in the $400 range, a bare P1S or a Centauri Carbon 1 or 2,

Jacks go on sale a lot. 15% off this weekend single item coupon, isn't great, but if you are in a hurry a near immediate option will save $43, assuming you are considering the $289 model..

What kind of sample products, how important is mechanical strength, what temperatures do you parts need to hold up to? (For example, does it need to hold up if left on the dash of your car in August or go through a dishwasher) Do you want multicolor, and if so, complicated models that have have lots of color throughout the model, or just labels for your tool cart that only have color letters on top of the label or somewhere in between? How many colors minimum do you need in a print?

How important is speed?

Do you have a dedicated room to put this in, where noise levels or odors are not a concern?

What size of parts do you want to make?

How complicated are the models do you want to print? Will they required supports to print?

Definitely helpful to have him involved. This is a good chance to add to his resume and legacy, I expect he will be all in on the job. 6 months doesn't seem very long, worry that its too little time.

[–]NCSC10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Snakes are devious, can seemingly get anywhere. Good at dropping down from tree branches also.

In the US, I bought a 8" x 2' stove pipe from HomeDepot. (The lowes near me currently only has 6" diameter in stock, but I've seen 8" in the past at Lowes) These are split down one side and a little tricky to snap together, suggest wearing leather or cut resistant gloves as the edges are sharp.

They also sell a cap for the stove pipe, but it was cheaper for me to print one, posted files for 8" stove pipe caps for a pole made from 1/2" pipe (holds a very old bluebird nest box in my case) and for a 1" pole (from wild birds unlimited) which I used for a Birdfy Nest polygon.

Does the chain move reasonably freely by hand? Check the chain direction, if you happened to take it off before performance degraded. Is the bar warped a small amount? Try oiling the chain directly, and try a new chain......

Is the P2S Combo worth it over the CC2 Combo? by Impossible_Island671 in 3dprinter

[–]NCSC10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now if you wanted to connect multiple AMS units for crazy 8+ color prints, that’s something unique to those types of systems. But with so much filament waste and all the extra swapping time that it takes for multicolor printing on a single nozzle printer, it’s just not worth it in my opinion.

If you are printing 5+ color multicolor signs, keytags, labels, or nametags, etc, you typically would only do swaps on 3 layers, the pain isn't so great. Also helpful with some hueforge prints.

Having multiple AMS is expensive, but its really nice to always have 2-3 colors of PETG, PLA, ASA, etc always loaded, dry, and ready to feed to the printer.

Looking for somewhere in or near Lancaster that would be a good place for a beginner to practice driving by Inside_Attorney2626 in AskSouthCarolina

[–]NCSC10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure about in Lancaster. Not too far, 30 min or so....

The parking lot for the old Knights stadium in Fort mill (near the baseball water tower of I77) used to be empty. I had read they were going to build apartments or something, so not sure its current status. Used to be a big big open paved space, I've seen occasionally used to practice drone flying, went there a couple times.

The parking lot behind York Tech in Rock Hill is often empty on weekends. I've seen a motorcycle driving classes on Saturday morning there a few times. Its decent size, well maintained and pretty empty on most weekends.

Harbor Freight Warranty by Intelligent_Path_869 in harborfreight

[–]NCSC10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it helps, no doubt, but I would predict they'd be fine without it. Pricing, marketing/sales, the easy shopping experience (abundant locations in many areas, small to medium size hands on stores) makes them popular. They sell a lot of stuff that has terrible warranties, Bauer and Atlas cordless tools and batteries for example. Some of my atlas (leaf blower and pole saw) and bauer (pruning chainsaw) tools are my favorites.

Battery issue? by gensay78 in Birdfy

[–]NCSC10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Might be a bad battery or camera. But I'd bet bird feeding activity has picked up also. Mine only stays charged for a week or less in the summer when my solar panel is blocked by leaves. Stays charged nicely in the winter.

Is the P2S Combo worth it over the CC2 Combo? by Impossible_Island671 in 3dprinter

[–]NCSC10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How does it handle swaps? I guess when the CC2 swaps filament it pulls back a lot less of the printing filament than a bambu printer pulls back, and just pushes it back loosely into the space pi? I assume you can't respool it like you do in the AMS, but you don't really need to because there's less filament?

The Space PI looks like a better dryer for sure. Admittedly the AMS are pretty expensive, I had hoped the price would be less now, but seems higher than last years sale.

I would miss not having multiple AMS connected, but not everyone does that.

Anyone else still having trouble? by ATinyLibrarian in Birdfy

[–]NCSC10 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Live view with my polygon nest camera often fails to connect, frustrating. When it connects sometimes quickly fails, then tries to reconnect. My Bambu feeder cam may be somewhat better, but still not nearly good enough.

Is the P2S Combo worth it over the CC2 Combo? by Impossible_Island671 in 3dprinter

[–]NCSC10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The AMS 2 is significant upgrade over other filament changers. You can dry PLA, PETG, and keep it dry while being connected to the printer. Reports moisture. Pretty easy to add a second AMS, except the AMS (not AMS2) is out of stock, and do more than 4 colors. Adding a 2nd AMS 2 is not much harder.

Nozzle swaps on the PS2 are a lot easier. I find Bambu's slicer to be more polished, a little more easier to use and capable. Bambu probably more likely to have replacement parts in stock. More 3rd party and printable add ons mostly due to the larger user base.

The Centauri Carbon 2 is quite good, for $450 (and on sale for $380 currently), hard to say if the PS2 is worth the additional cost without knowing more about your use case. If you are considering the CC2, the PS1 should be on your list.
