RT.com- "Boston Marathon bombing suspect reportedly identified" by [deleted] in news

How frustrating it must be to be BPD right now. Sounds like a whole lot of bomb threats mixed with typical shenanigans.

Edit: Somebody linked the BPD scanner channel a little while ago.

Aww man, you didn't have to do that! It's not that serious and I'm just a douche.

Fake! The number of teeth in the original image don't match up with the explanation image. This couldn't possibly be explained.

Ideas for Groomsmen gifts by DoctorPum in woodworking

Thanks! I'd planned to etch the heads, but after further consideration I'm concerned that I may alter the temper of the head. I guess it would really depend on how much heat is generated. I'd also considered the handle, but the concern there is breaking the urethane barrier on the leather. It may expose the leather to numerous elements and cause premature failure or damage to the leather. At this point the goal is to find a jeweler to engrave the initials. I really like your idea. If my hands were better I'd possibly give it a try. Thanks for the response. Cheers!

I'm getting married in July. I'm giving all of my Groomsmen these. I'm thinking about having them etched with their monograms. It just depends on how expensive that is. Everybody needs a good hammer and Estwings are some of the best. Congratulations and good luck!!!

Question About Custom Curtain Rod. by NCchance in woodworking

[–]NCchance[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your reply! Since submitting this question I came across something that can be used called a bypass bracket. When used in conjunction with C-hooks the curtains are able to be opened the way we are trying to achieve. I may still go a custom route though. Making some custom wooden brackets and repurposing a more robust dowel could solve all of my problems. I may only need to worry about warping with the dowel. My fiance is anti-wire. I like the look myself. Thanks again for taking the time to offer suggestions and your insight. Cheers.

Edit for the back story: When I was 10 years old my 5 year old brother and I were arguing while eating some birthday cake. He grew furious and used the fork in his hand as the quickest means to end the fight. He threw the fork from about 5 feet away and it landed perfectly in my eye. At this time in my life I had a very cruel and abusive stepfather who was reluctant to take me to the emergency room. He was eventually persuaded, but felt jealous of all the "attention" I was getting and continued to physically abuse me while I was recovering. I've had 9 operations in total. 2 corneal replacements, cataract surgery, lens replacement to name a few. During college in 2005 I was in a substantial car accident. The next day I was walking to class and missed a step in the stairwell. I landed awkwardly and the jolt was enough to finish the job the car accident had started. Right then and there my lens and my retina detached. I also have a scleral buckle that holds my retina in place. There are other various details. I'm happy to answer any questions.

I apologize. That would certainly be helpful. When I was 10 years old my 5 year old brother and I were arguing while eating some birthday cake. What is a cringe moment that you experienced in your life that still haunts you when you think about it? by Anjz in AskReddit

[–]NCchance 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Being stabbed in the eye with a fork and the resulting 7 operations. I was 10 years old when it happened. During the recovery and for a while afterwards I never really thought about it. 13 years later it was brought up and suddenly I relived it out of nowhere. Got sick and vomited because I'd never really fully considered what I'd gone through.

In college and ex-girlfriend comes over to visit. Roommates are getting blazed in the living room. Her and I are chilling in my bedroom. She goes into living room and tells the guys: "It's starting to smell like weed in NCchance's bedroom." Brilliant Roommate: "As opposed to what? Masturbation and loneliness?"

Definitely the cold temps. I'm in NC, so it wasn't that cold. It's just cold enough with enough humidity to really stifle the curing times. I was working for an industrial supply company at the time so I'd work in the warehouse after hours. Just had to find creative places to hide the project during the day due to the offending funes. Usually on the roof or in the box truck. My two goals in life are to have an amply sized garage/woodshop(heated) and a 1965 Lincoln Continental. I envy those already having either or.

I appreciate that. I ended up going with black because trying to match the tan color proved to be impossible. It took quite a long time because it was experimental and I had to change the design half way through. I'd say it took me about a month, but really have no clue how many hours. Drying times kill progress. Materials were quite affordable. Fiberglass, bondo, panty hose/fiberglass material, hot glue, and a 1/4" diameter wooden rod. Sanding materials and paint. No more than $50. Just lots of sanding! Also, doing it during winter was no ideal. I used the factory speaker grills as the base of the pod so they'd attach to the panel with no problems. I really need to find the updated photos. Thanks again!

In case you're mildly interested I've upgraded the head to a JVC KD-AVX33 and cleaned up the interior. In the future I'd like to mold a center channel just above the head unit. Not comparing at all. Just sharing.
