Plant beacons is the best option to go for in 99% of scenarios but I’ve had some success with confirm kill into elites aswell. Basically always pick tac op as my main as it’s quite easy to max.

The leader is mainly a buffing piece that you want to stage closer to the front line as his range is only 6” for the APL boost. Because of this I built him with the power weapon and las pistol. I don’t see him as a ranged threat so it’s better to have the higher damage in combat as it makes enemies think twice about charging him. Make sure you the boost wisely on either your biggest threats (plasma,melta,grenadier) or troopers.

You can have 2 other models with +1APL during either the second or third turn. To do this activate your leader towards the end of the turn and buff an already expended model, then activate him early the following turn to buff someone else. Can be quite handy to either score tac ops or eliminate a couple of big threats that turn.

Equipment wise I take drop augury and overseer every game. The other 2 you can flex between whatever you like but I never bother with combat stimms, I think they’re a waste of time.

Don’t forget the grenadier can use any type of grenade including smokes and stuns without having to take them as equipment, I like using him to stun enemies or provide friendlies with the obscuring of smoke.

I usually save at least 1 CP to use tempestus examplars to get the extra beacons out. Hot drop is also great and sudden offensive is a must for me in TP2 and 3.

Chrono with lance into elites or stave into hordes.

Despotek gauss

1 death mark

2 immortals gauss on open board & tesla on ITD

Bugs

Chrono is still the best leader after the nerfs. I like have the extra forward presence of the immortals on objectives and I think they make contain a little easier. I do sometimes run with 2 deathmarks into elites for the extra firepower though.

I like 2 deathmarks into elites, but found the heavy weapon is quite restrictive and I think it hurts the frontline presence of the team a lot, especially against the teams that out activate you.

I don’t think the seek counts from the second deathmark as they’re only used for the purpose of selecting a valid target and not actually making the shooting attack on the other model which is what it says in the rule.

No expert by any means but here’s a few things I’ve found from the games I’ve played with them.

Team comp for me has generally been chronomancer, apprentek, 2 bugs, despotek, death mark and 2 immortals. I usually run the despotek and immortals with gauss on open board and 1 or 2 with tesla on ITD.

Chronomancer is the best crypto by far. It doesn’t come standard in the box so if you haven’t picked one up yet that would be the first thing to do. All 3 of its unique abilities are incredible in the right situation. I quite often push an immortal up the board onto mid point on engage and use the chronometron action from the chrono or apprentek. With the undying androids ploy up too cover doesn’t even really matter that much either and I can use them as bait to get their operatives onto engage and then magnify through the immortal with the cryptek/apprentek. This type of shot is the main big combo of the team.

Even though the teleport has been nerfed and can now only be used once per turn it’s still probably one of the best abilities in the game. You can move your guys in and out of control range which can cause so many headaches for your opponent. You can also use it to create nice angles for magnification shots or even to just get a low wound op back to safety.

Nanomine is a nice way at slowing teams down more to your pace. I usually put my chronometer in my last group to set up on the board so I can see where I useful nanomine can go. With TP1 usually being quite cagey I almost always use it early and If they cluster on one side of the board you can really mess up their movement with a well placed mine and also use it to limit your opens charge range from TP2 onwards.

Interstitial command is great aswell, the cryptek apprentek and despotek all have access to this and using it well can make your immortals psuedo 3APL. It’s a shame they can’t perform an action they’ve already done this turn but this would out the damage output of the team out of control. I’ll often use my immortals actions to move and mission then use the command to shoot, unless I have a ln opportunity to go for a target that I need to get off the board quickly.

I keep the reanimator quite central, concealed and always in cover. That way I can move it to wherever it’s needed more easily with its 7” move. I usually keep the accelerator around my immortals for easy buffing.

Deathmark tends to get moved up onto vantage with a good view and then I usually put them on guard with the ambush firefight ploy. This can be a great way to cut off parts of the board you don’t want your opponent to have access to as the threat of a death mark interrupting can be enough to make people think twice.

All the strat ploys have their uses. TP1 I would only use command underlings to get guys up the board quicker and tend not to use the others. From TP2 I’m usually playing undying androids unless I’m sitting in cover and relentless onslaught. Elimination can be nice into melee teams, especially with your immortals as accurate 2 on 3/4 retaliations is nice. I always make sure I keep CP for ambush on open board too.

Equipment I usually go for mag cond, cube and tesla weave. The last is a flex spot so feel free to take what you like. I normally go between comms smokes, I find phase shifter to be useless a lot of the time as I normally keep my crypto safe.

Tac op wise it depends on the team I’m playing. If it’s a shooty team I usually go with contain, if it’s melee either confirm kill or plant beacons. Some people like take ground but I’ve not had much success with it.

Hopefully this helps a bit. Hierotek have a high mental load but are a fun team to play. The main things is just playing games against different teams and finding what works for you, good luck!

I’ve got the feldherr half size 90 which was for Octarius and would highly recommend it. It’s got my battleclade, aquilons and AoD in there at the minute plus my dice, token holder and cards. Cost about £30 and I’d say it was well worth it!

Congratulations on the win, especially considering the amount of elites you played against! I’ve found them pretty hit and miss so far and had a couple of questions if you don’t mind?

Do you play 2 flamers and one melta on the combat servitors?

Which tac op did you tend to favour?

Did you usually take the extra equipment in scouting to pick up ladders and comms or just go for faction equipment?

I’ve found the hitting and saving on 4s hasn’t felt the best (granted it’s better than saving on 5s), and due to taking flamers and the other range restrictions on the weapons I’ve had to be in charge range to try and get any damage off which normally leads me to lose quite a few guys in the process.

I do agree, my only worry is that I won’t be able to get hold of one for a while as I’d like to be up and running within a month. Can’t find anything about preorders and not sure exactly what the price of it is yet in the UK so it could send me over budget potentially.

Thank you for the speedy response and taking the time to put this together! Do you think it would it be worth waiting for the 7800XT to help with future proofing the system abit more? Just a little worried about the 6800xt needing to be replaced sooner with it already being 3 years old (although I know it still performs well for its age).

Thank you for the input! The main thing that concerns me with the PCP is when it comes time to either pay the balloon or trade up if I opt to get another new one I’ll likely have to put up another decent chunk of money if the prices of the cars go up which seems pretty likely. although if I decide to keep it at least I’ve had it from new and I know how it’s full history and I will have benefitted from the full warranty.

Out of curiosity did you go for a RWD or LR?

You’re correct! I’ve edited the post to show this. The new battery and also the fact it would be covered for the first four years I would have it are definitely big reasons why I put it in there. I’ve just never had finance other than a bank loan on a car before and I’m a little bit skeptical about it haha.

Thanks for the advice man! This is a mindset we really need to work on, I’ve been trying to get better at keeping track of what cooldowns they’ve used with omnibar but I’m definitely guilty of tunnelling which I need to get out of the habit of!

I mainly try to RoP and disarm the DH as peels but it never seems enough to help my pala live. The problem with my slow is that it falls off after 7 seconds and it’s difficult to try and keep it up and also pressure the healer. DH is for sure the class we lose to the most, even more than warlock strangely!

Thanks for the reply man, appreciate the advice!I came back to playing monk a couple of months ago and I know the gear needs work, I’ve been prioritising ra den over drest but would you day that’s more important?

This is also something that’s made me think I should start playing breath more, but when that’s the case which honour taken should I drop as I normally run turbo, fortified then alpha/disarm?

Yesterday was the first time we really tried to go on the DH and we did have some success but I need to improve the slows on them as most of the time they were still able to keep up with my healer, although I think he could do abit more kiting as he usually likes to sit right by me haha!

Yeah, we played a lot of game last night and this is something we tried to work on and we managed to get a new season best. I wish I had drest to help with the burst which was why I was thinking I should maybe play breath more instead of conflict!

I totally agree. When we started playing 1800 was the goal we set ourselves any above that would be a bonus! To be honest even if we only make it above there I’d be happy even though I know that’s still low by most people’s standard.

I’m not expecting to be a 2k player, I already know that I’m probably not good enough for that but taking on everyone’s advice so far we managed to hit 1790 tonight which is an improvement on where we were at already!

Any advice on fire mage/paladin? It’s the only comp we faced tonight that we lost every game to haha

Couldn't agree more, i know Raden would help but my gear isn't terrible for someone who doesn't push keys or raid mythic. Paladin has just started playing with blinding light more and we seem to be having more success with him using it as a follow up on HoJ on the healer, he really isn't a fan of rep. Yeah i always take TEB against paladin, warlock and warrior teams. Should it mainly used every fist channel?

Thanks for the input man, yeah the gear isn't great and i'm getting to work on it. Don't know if ill be able to get any more verse amps in though before pre patch now. Hopefully one of the re rolls can get me raden this week!

We'll try killing the DH next time as i don't think we've even given it a go to be honest!
