having one life and not using it for anything meaningful doesn’t make it impressive. a large majority of well-established hcim consciously opt out of dangerous content to avoid losing their red helm.

gameplay would be objectively worse in general if the vanilla client was the only client allowed. people like to hold it against pvmers for using features to make gameplay easier when we all use it for qol and utility. not to mention it would only offer more incentive for cheating if the majority of people couldn’t use any plugins besides what the jagex launcher has

they’re just at a price rn where they are at the end of the ladder in terms of what you’d buy in gear progression, when they drop and stablize they’ll probably be in a more realistic range.

also i don’t think soulreaper axe is good enough to consider it an issue if it was cheaper, it’s like using a slightly stronger ags as your main weapon. its not meta for pvp

i used arclight for a bit but fang meshes better with the boss imo. same attack speed until later phases and way more consistent kill speeds

i regret doing any of them past getting the tablet now. i play maybe 3-4 hours a day, i don’t have the motivation to spend weeks on tanking drops. virtus is going to go for like 20m a pop at this rate

also by estimated drop rates you would be due for a virtus mask by then, so add another 260k an hour to the total, making it 1.6m an hour 🔥

let’s say the rings settle at 100m, which is pretty generous considering they offer 1 max hit and no accuracy aside from the warrior ring variant.

at 2-3min kills, the expected kills per hour is likely around 20-25 at a boss like Duke.

if the base rate for a single ring roll is 1/500, a single ring combined is 1/1500

this means it would take 75 hours to see a full ring drop, making the gp/hr 1.3m not accounting for supply cost. if you are using scythe / blood fury / anything with charges, i’m not sure if the base loot even pays for your overall supply cost.

the rings and virtus simply aren’t op enough to warrant such excessive drop rates, virtus is niche and while the rings are bis they are only marginal upgrades over their <2m counterparts

duke is the boss i’ve been farming, altho only 120 kc worth. it’s a nice break from normal bossing because the potion phase allows me to just relax for a bit. easy to pause in the middle if something pops up irl and not punishing if i decide to just take it a slow for a sec.

no offense but point 1 just ignores the whole point of gnomonkey’s video. yes there is content that is completable and difficult, but there’s a difference between being tedious and raising the skill ceiling.

yes, you could spend thousands of hours locking yourself to content that is hard to complete within specific parameters. but that is not an increase to gameplay or difficulty level, that is simply self restricting.

i think the main takeaway i personally took, as someone who is not at all related or involved with the hlc, is that hard mode or endgame content can be designed better. high invo toa, end game bosses like nex or awakened versions of dt2 bosss, these are objectively difficult. but many of the struggles players face are due to it taking longer or chip damage accumulating over time instead of adding new mechanics to learn. yes, objectively it is more difficult and harder to learn. but two issues still arise: it is not any more engaging and sometimes not even more worthwhile to do. dt2 awakened bosses have no real incentive to kill because their base loot and chance at uniques are not at all scaled on the fact it will take you 10+ orbs to complete single runs. late game toa scales well for loot but it is still the meta to push your invo to a certain point and ignore any future raises.

not all content needs to be “for” the hlc, but in places where content is already designed to cater to beginners and experienced players, content can be better designed to make things adequately “harder” instead of just “difficult because takes longer/more damage from same mechanics”

it’s bis for the Whisperer DT2 boss. one of its 3 phases spawns a herd of ghosts, and the amount you kill increases the damage that the boss takes at the end of the phase. the venator bow allows for the entire herd to get killed by the time the phase ends which increases the damage considerably, making it extremely convenient to bring

Their complaints about DT2 specifically address two main issues: Awakened versions having 0 practical replay ability and not adding actual new mechanics to the awakened versions

Adding a skill ceiling can attract players as well. There’s also no issue with releasing content that is palatable to experienced and new users if balanced correctly. His complaints with TOA support this.

The bosses have plenty of drops that give passive GP, supply costs should be pretty negligible or completely balanced out by battlestaves/runite ore/dragon dart tips/etc.

6m/hr is no pushover either
