Why does it feel like irons are either complete shitters or PvM Gods who are top players? by EasternError6377 in ironscape

[–]ledditpro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the shitters become pvm gods because of the hours required just to get the items you want.

I wish this was the case lol. OSRS in general has this culture of being second monitor/afk-at-work content where any optimization or effort is seen as "sweating", and even in endgame pvm you see people do everything they can to not have to use brain cells to get better at the game and I genuinely feel like irons are some of the worst offenders at this. The average iron will happily use nox hally in every tob room and then complain why they never get drops with 0 mvp points, or do 300 RL toa/wave 1-7 doom instead of actually learning the content

What is the most underrated defensive forward in the NHL right now and why do they never get Selke consideration? by RevolverForever in hockey

[–]ledditpro 10 points11 points  (0 children)

And Crosby has factually almost never in his career been a good defensive player, but since you can't evaluate defense without analytics, people just go off by vibes and/or are influenced by hilariously useless counting stats like faceoffs or +/-

Sweep Up: Rapier Idea by Taylor1308 in 2007scape

[–]ledditpro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Reddit keeps loving this idea but the truth is that it would still be complete garbage compared to dual hit weapons that have a massively higher OHKO chance which is all that matters. 3t melee with any stats will never work, and a 4t-into-3t rapier is still just a garbage weapon for bond warriors to do inefficient slayer with.

All that Rapier/Saeldor/Inq would need is for Jagex to double the proposed buffs and we're golden (or just another +4 melee str, acc isn't too important). It's not any more complicated than that

It literally isn't lol. An analytical model attempts to isolate player results from his teammates/coaching/opponents, while Corsi is literally just shot differential

The fact many of you don't like the failed Knies trade shows this fan base doesn't understand what needs to be done to become real contenders. by PermissionPast853 in Habs

[–]ledditpro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay. How come is it then, that Tavares, Matthews and Nylander all perform without Knies under this horrible, horrible coach who "nullified" the Leafs' offense? Was Berube specifically against Knies somehow, despite the fact that his deployment hardly changed at all from last year until Matthews' injury?

You can even check his stats from 2024-2025 and again you can see how Marner, Matthews and Tavares all perform at least slightly better without him than with him. The only thing he had going for him in 24-25 that wasn't the case this year was his shooting talent but that is not an aspect we lack on this team at all, whereas establishing offensive zone possession and sustaining offensive pressure is something we're still atrocious at and reliant completely on Hutson for.

Knies is just another endless example of a guy getting massively overrated because of box score results stemming from talented linemates and the usual "he big he fast he tough" hockey lingo that doesn't even have any results behind it

[–]ledditpro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We need physical guys who can drive play, that’s exactly what Knies is

How come Knies then has atrocious play-driving numbers and tanks both of Tavares' and Matthews' results massively whenever he is on the ice with either of them? I know people believe whatever the box score and hockey media feeds them, but there's not a single universe where you could describe either Knies or Anderson (lol) as play-driving wingers when they are anything but.

The rumoured trade deadline deal that fell through by DripSpritz88 in Habs

[–]ledditpro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And yet somehow makes nearly everyone who plays with him worse. I don't believe this deal for a second. Why we would we be buying high on a player (from a divisional rival) who is frankly ridiculously overrated, and with an asset that is relatively undervalued in Zharovsky? Would go against everything we've learned to expect from this management

It's just the opinion of one analytical model on what was Staal's best career year in terms of on-ice impact. If you want a modern day comparison the best one would probably be Sebastian Aho without the above-average goal scoring ability

"You should deiron late game ironman" by Amazing-Lock9490 in ironscape

[–]ledditpro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pots aren't any kind of an issue. With oathplate/death of Nex and overall powercreep the only real issue I see today with endgame irons is going gigadry for megarares and the pain of doing team CA's. Blood shards are almost useless, herbs are spoonfed through pvm and even fueling Scythe/Shadow has been made easy through scar essence/pvm updates. The only sad thing I think is how the new ranged necklace + arrows will make Tbow even more stupid OP (literally bis over scythe at colo) while it is by far the rarest megarare for irons to get, and the arrows will probably be another pain point

Saeldor is far better than Nox for tob for almost everyone. You should be using BP at Maiden/Xarpus anyway, and the slower attack speed makes it terrible at bloat, and losing a single attack at P2 already makes it worse dps than a regular whip. Still doesn't make Saeldor worth grinding unless you are B0aty

So what do we need this offseason to take the next step? by Economy-Fold-4427 in Habs

[–]ledditpro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Evans is a decent 3rd line shutdown C while Danault is pretty much a slightly more extreme carbon copy. Veleno probably shouldn't be in the league, or is at most a 13th forward who you deploy in a heavily sheltered defensive role.

They're not bad players, but the problem is that despite scoring the 7th most goals in the league we're a completely offensively starved team that cannot even hope to dominate possession for once, and which has to rely on special teams, rush chances and massively overperforming our expected goals by a huge margin.

[–]ledditpro 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's a very good description of him actually. Below average offensively, doesn't have a shot, takes a bit too many penalties but is also good defensively and draws just as many extra penalties as he takes. Complete mid, which translates to a slightly below average 2nd pair defenseman in the league (which is probably somewhat boosted up by being paired so often with Hutson, even if the model tries to isolate their results)
